100% Keeping my FXDLS - have my other sportbike variants if I need ultimate performance. I said it before and I'll say it again.. just something about a dyna that the softails dont have 🤙🔥
With you on that one, that FXDLS is something I will hold onto forever - I would agree in terms of character and legacy that there is something unique to the Dyna/FXR platforms - However, the raw inherent performance from the ST is nothing to write off - I see it as a have and run both situation if the fates allow
I feel the same. I love the new ST for the most part but I’ve put way too much into my Dyna at this point to justify getting rid of it for the latest and greatest that Harley has to offer.
Yeah I get it FXDLS is nostalgic. However if you don't have gobs of cash or patience to deal with it then trading up makes sense more powerful engine less inherent issues better handling. Honestly nostalgia and memories would be the only reason I would keep it.
Shoutout from College Point!!! I started watching you channel when you had like 30 subscribers cause I had a 2017 Low Rider S. This summer I sold it with 3400 miles to get a 2022 Low Rider S and the 22 is better in every way for where and how I ride. I will be getting a 22 El Diablo St here in the spring.
What's happening man! Glad you've been with me since the beginning! Yeah man I hear you, the performance is undeniably - However, I could never let me FXDLS go, hence the name
Not trying to be a dick but how many UA-camrs sold their dynas for the new Softail S? Almost everybody. Did they really like their dynas or did they need new bikes to make content? A real dyna bro is going to stick to the dyna. I would NEVER trade my dyna in for a softail. Oh and btw you can’t be a dyna bro without the bike it was named after.
You know where I stand on that - That dyna is my forever bike, will be with me until the end - However, I definitely see enough potential in the ST to see it as a formidable addition to the garage 🗽⚡️
I did the same... sold my 2001 dyna and more recently sold my 2005 FXDXI which was built, motor pumped, 6 speed Trans, custom paint job, flames and all... it was my dream build at the time. Built a 2019 sport glide, made it look like a fxrt. White paint and the rest blaked out... after about a year of riding the new bike, I sold my 2005 FXDXI... never thought I would sell it, I just stopped riding it after I got the 2019. Just a way better ride in my opinion. The 2005 was like my old school that just sat there, it did not compare to the new build. Not in handling, performance or comfort of ride. Sold the FXDXI to a friend who loves it. I also picked up a 2022 Low rider ST, great bike, but I do like the sport glide a little more. My bar setup and the fxrt fairing are more comfortable and the fxrt fairing is way more effective at blocking wind, especially at hwy speeds.
I like the fact that you held onto the Dyna long enough to make that decision rather than immediately getting rid of it - that’s interesting man, you’re not the first one to bring up the sport glide on here
@FXDLS Brooklyn hands down the best bike I've ever built, it's looks nothing like a factory sport glide. It gets mistaken for white ST pretty often now. Before the ST came out most people had no idea what it was. To be honest I thought I would keep my 05 fxdxi forever... I probably would have kept it longer if it wasn't a good friend that bought it.
I think we go thru phases of trying to find out what bike suits our needs in juxtaposition to what us going on in the other 90% of our lives. My buddy Kurt changes bikes often, he's a (many) small business owner that needs to haul gear and tools, yet his personality is stripped down, MX style supermotard riding on the street using Harleys, his practical side says buy a bagger and try to modify it to do it all, and while that tour pak is handy, it's not very sexy to look at when you glance back at your bike when you're walking into the coffee shop. Currently he's on a Switchback which may suit his needs (and he sold most of businesses claiming he's retiring) but I also see him glance at the ST and I know his favorite thing to do every August is to hot shot to Sturgis non-stop and return literally the same day doing a back to back Iron Butt and I know he's built enough custom bikes to know that out of the box thar the ST is capable at a fraction of the cost of what it would cost to build something of that caliber. (Dealer mark up not withstanding. ) Where as I live further out on the prairie and every time I get on the bike to go riding with my buddies, I ride an hour just to meet them or to go to the grocery or to the feed store to pick up cracked corn for the chickens (and even further now since discovering that Tractor Supply is owned by nothing but urban hedge funds and the chicken feed they sell has caused a nationwide egg shortage) so I moved back to the touring chassis which suited my practical side. Do I miss having a Dyna which handles like a great hooligan bike? AbsoFNlutely ...but they're not much fun with 100 pounds of farm feed strapped to the back of them. I thought long and hard about the ST, my dealer had a used one on the showroom with mods I would have made at a decent price...and I still wonder if I should have went in that direction. But ultimately, it pegged too hard on the Hooligan side of the personality scale and you know how much that rots ones serenity!
I really thought you were going to go the ST route there for a minute - I think you made the right call with the standard though especially given the riding you do 🗽⚡️
@FXDLS Brooklyn It wasn't a decision I made lightly. The Dyna is the perfect rural hooligan bike, and performance wise it covered all the bases, but it was not perfect ergonomically for me, maybe me ten years ago but aging happens, possibly hereditary arthritis, decades of ultra long distance running and hard living but the Dyna, like my former Triumph Tiger would cause me days of recovery after long distance riding, something my former RK didn't do nor Father Bobber's Victory Cross Country did to me even though I covered about 2400 miles in a little over two days on a seat that didn't suit me. I thought about floorboards and a FXRT fairing like my FXRT had...ten years ago, but I know that was a younger body. And I started going to bike nights, something I wouldn't normally do, I don't like bad cover bands or loosely organized dealership sales events, but I enjoyed hanging out with Kurt and his buddies who I'd known for decades and now they're old men riding Baggers and covering miles and I want to follow in those guys footsteps. I did consider the Softail ST, I liked the bags, the suspension, the fairing, the potential...but I was picturing myself ten years in the future. Growing up I'd seen the old grey hairs riding batwinged Electra Glides and possibly nostalgia won out.
If I had money to buy these new bikes (Low Rider St/Pan-America) I definitely would. But I have an OG FXDXT so I’ll keep it forever. Especially when it’s the inspiration for many newer bike builds.
Why not have both. I own the Low Rider ST. LOVE IT. From your content I can tell you are really into the ST. I recommend doing what it takes to get you one. Easier said than done, but ultimately worth the price of admission. Take care.
I've had twin cam bikes, one M8 (which didn't go well at all) and am back to a TC88 low rider with a carb. I full time moto commute in and out of DC from maryland daily year around (about 95 miles round trip). the harleys had more trouble staying reliable with the abuse of the commute, and the M8 blew a head gasket at 34K miles, and also revealed a host of other hidden mechanical issues. I now commute 95% of the time on a verysy 650, and ride my 2004 stage 2 FXDL for leisure and the occasional commute. So I would not trade my 2004 dyna for a new Low rider with the M8 for full time commuting. I just don't think they can handle the abuse (IMO) of the cold winters and very hot summer commutes. My Kawi never flinches and never gives me any trouble. just my experience. love the videos.
After all taxes, fees etc, you’re looking over 25 k for the low rider ST. At that price tag get a glide which has better bags (clamshells aren’t great), infotainment, speakers, better fairing etc.
Ehhh I hear you, I just like the way the STs handle way more than anything from the bagger platform - I'm also just not a speaker/infotainment guy, I keep this minimal in that regard
Went to Australia rode my mates 2019 Sport glide for a week came back to NZ sold my Dyna that I had spent some bucks on,bought a 2018 FXLR and man I am very happy with the softail platform it really does work very well, not disappointed with my decision!!
I don't doubt the FXLRST is a superior bike, Modern advancements in engineering with the M8 engine and the fairing. I mean hell, I own a 2021 FXLRS. But there is just something so chiche and captivating about a tricked out dyna with the exposed rear shocks, performance parts, the panel-style paintjob and running with a T-sport or FXRT/P fairing. It's been around so long that dyna's have started a subculture, just like Vicla's or the whole Gangsta Nike Bikie Vrod/Breakout culture we have down in Australia. At the end of the day despite technological advances, Dyna's have essentially engrained themselves in the Harley Culture. It's just timeless.
I will buy every Dyna I can get my hands on. I have my 02 lowrider and several street and wide glides. Got my Ironhead even. Me personally, if I had to have this lowrider all I'll have to do is wait about 3 to 5 years and buy it for less than half the money with about 10 to 15k on the odometer. They're everywhere. My 05 and 06 street glides had 11k and 15k respectfully and I bought them each for 5k cash.
I’d say stick with the Dyna if you put a lot of work already into it. If it’s just a used beater Dyna that you bought for cheap just to get your feet wet, then I’d say trade up for that new ST.
I miss just having one bike, it really does simplify things, a lot - There's definitely benefits to owning multiple though - But similar to how BIG said - More bikes, More problems
@@FXDLSBrooklyn I'll remember that next time I find myself wanting, or "window shopping" for the next or "better" bike... I worked hard and had a few iffy bikes before this one, shit 4 years ago every bike I rode was stolen so... yeah man my bikes with my buisness and only getting better. I'm gonna go ahead make a video cause fuck it why not. ..
ST looks great...but I would wait for used private sale ones that will come up in a few years rather than pay the gouge...I mean the dealer MARK UP over MSRP....
Short of the fairing which is admittedly for many a huge part of the equation you want a discount LRST? Consider starting with a used Sport Glide. These can be picked up reasonably. You can cam the 107 to be a tick off the 114 or if you are going to rebuilt the motor anyway it can be built into a sweet 124/128/139. STFU has drop in kits for the 128 and Moonshine STFU Cycle Rama & Revolution all have 139 kits. Kits for the fairing are now getting more known. Many of us swap wheels anyway or you can do the 15" Arlen Ness front rotor to make reasonably good brakes on the cheap. You can use the Bunk King shock extension and the factory 56 mm spring off another softail the get the back of the bike up cheap & easy. Food for thought.
Everyone desire the new bikes because is new and has all the new technology/performance little things but when all look back to the dyna you forget everything and keep the dyna. And they will not be released again. Performance dyna is the best of all
To each his own. The Lowrider ST is a cool motorcycle. Maybe if I didn't have my stable, I would at least test ride it. There is something to be said about a man who has his motorcycle for decades and is known for that particular motorcycle. I've met older men who have had their Fxr from the dealership. I find that to be cool. I'm not into the ON TO THE NEXT type vibe. Like I said to each his own.
You're definitely somebody who fits that profile to me in terms your FXR builds and the chopper - For me, that's going to be my Dyna Low Rider S in terms of a forever bike - However, you know my feelings on the ST - I miss you man, hope you're well!
Haha cant beat a dyna 🤙🏻 i just bought a 22 Roadglide st end Of last summer, the dealership asked about 5-6 times while i was there if i was sure that i didnt wanna trade in my dyna. I just couldnt do it its treated me great for years and shes still a blast to ride
@@FXDLSBrooklyn yessir I honestly never rode a road glide till i test drove the ST and i went home with it the same day, i was actually going for a lower st but the bagger surprised me ive had electra glides before but the road glide st is an animal 🤙🏻
I sold my fxdb a few months ago and upgraded to a 114 fat bob no regrets here. It feels like a natural progression the same as when I sold the sportster to get a dyna. Of course it would be nice to just build a dream garage of bikes, I definitely have a few on my list
@@FXDLSBrooklyn 2009 Super glide custom, Vivid, and 12 Street Bob, Vivid, Halloween of 2008 I went in to go buy a T-shirt, and the Super glide came with lol and I never rode a bike before, had them drop it off, told them I’ll figure it out, rest is history 21 bikes later👍 like the vids keep them rolling
the ST looks amazing but like all the new softails the tank doesnt look right, thats the only thing holding me up from trading in my dyna for a new bike
Believe it or not, last year for example, I could count the days on one hand where road conditions were unreliable due to snow - Funny too, because on those days you would still see the delivery guys pushing through it on all sort of motorized scooters
While my 2011 dyna street bob 11 tire shredder is not the most extreme build out there, (106hp122tq more than enough to get into trouble with) I just can't justify trading it in and getting next to nothing for it just to have the latest and greatest being the low rider st. Besides I also have a 2020 z900 if I want to haul ass.....not to mention both bikes are paid for, just my two cents!!!!
@@FXDLSBrooklyn most probably is but you well know this becomes an addiction to start upgrading.. street or road glide it's going to become a money pit as well...too much good shit to leave stock and we always want more power..😎
Sold my low rider ST and kept my Low rider S, both 2022’s it’s just better to keep the S with the type of riding im doing and I just prefer the look of the S, I prefer the single gauge as opposed to the digital riser gauge, if I was gonna do trips then I’d have kept it but if ima be realistic I don’t see any trips anytime soon unfortunately
The new bikes are awesome but anyone can buy one so the cool factor is lost. There is nothing like having a one off cool factor bike that makes you feel good and when you’re out everyone wants to talk about your cool bike.
I agree that Dynas are going strong, and me personally would never get rid of mine - However, I wouldn’t say it’s misleading since I provided evidence of people doing this assuming you watched that far in- if you don’t believe me go shoot him a DM - Regardless, Dyna or ST, it’s all good as long as it’s moving and making miles - Thanks for checking it out! 🗽⚡️
I know these new HDs are faster but I can buy a stock 600cc sport bike and ride circles around a Harley lol or my dream Japanese bike Suzuki 1300 B-King , stop with the performance Harley Davidson, it even sounds funny, I ride a Harley Davidson for the feeling and going fast especially in NY will get you a fast track to the grave, just ride , cruise and take it easy, that’s what Harley Davidsons are for, Performance lol
@FXDLS Brooklyn No real desire to, If I want handling and speed, Suzuki B-King , 0-60 2 seconds, ST 0-60 4.5 , B-King 2008 0-100 4.5 seconds, ST 0-100 10+ seconds, if you want performance, almost 900lb harley davidson is the wrong way to go, but a sportster on the other hand is 100% the way to go! Look up the stats , it's fast for a 800+ lb HD and my friend just got one and definitely a great bike but not the reason I ride a harley davidson, I am more into the classic looks
I don't understand you guys at all how you could put so much money into a bike and lose it when you go to make a trade or a sale. I keep my bikes for decades. When I get another bike I don't sell the old one. It's like adopting a new dog you don't go shoot the old one.

You can use the Bunk King shock extension and the factory 56 mm spring off another softail the get the back of the bike up cheap & easy. Food for thought.
Yeah it's funny man, just a bike a very rarely see - I only know one person with one, he actually wound up swapping out the fairing for an RT
keeping my 14 FXDB, but I have a 17 road glide to be the long haul bike
That's a good combination man
Everyone desire the new bikes because is new and has all the new technology/performance little things but when all look back to the dyna you forget everything and keep the dyna. And they will not be released again. Performance dyna is the best of all
Truth
You gotta be out your f’ing mind to trade a fully built dyna for that ST
People do it - Personally wouldn't let mine go, but I get it if someone is in a situation where you have to have only one bike
All is well I'm cooking up something.
Yep I get it man - You have best of both worlds now 🗽⚡️
@@FXDLSBrooklyn yessir I honestly never rode a road glide till i test drove the ST and i went home with it the same day, i was actually going for a lower st but the bagger surprised me ive had electra glides before but the road glide st is an animal 🤙🏻
I sold my fxdb a few months ago and upgraded to a 114 fat bob no regrets here. It feels like a natural progression the same as when I sold the sportster to get a dyna. Of course it would be nice to just build a dream garage of bikes, I definitely have a few on my list
😑😑 db to a fat Bob? Might as well bought a fatboy
The low rider always looked a bit generic to me, and the st was just not in my budget. The fat bob has always been my favourite m8 model.
@@rob7105 is this the old fat Bob or new one
@@berealz9701 114 fat bob so the newer one
Hate the 3.5 gallon tank and exhaust, would def change those out and bars
My first bike was a new Dyna, had a couple, maybe another one this summer, if I can get a deal👍
What year and model?
@@FXDLSBrooklyn 2009 Super glide custom, Vivid, and 12 Street Bob, Vivid, Halloween of 2008 I went in to go buy a T-shirt, and the Super glide came with lol and I never rode a bike before, had them drop it off, told them I’ll figure it out, rest is history 21 bikes later👍 like the vids keep them rolling
the ST looks amazing but like all the new softails the tank doesnt look right, thats the only thing holding me up from trading in my dyna for a new bike
I have a buddy who feels the same - Personally does not bother me, but I get it
How much horsepower does the grey bike make ?
More than enough to keep you moving fast
@@FXDLSBrooklyn 80 bhp ?
16th birthday but yea id say he’s a pretty rad dad 😎😎❤️🔥
Your Dad's awesome man! Looking forward to linking up with you guys next time I'm down that way - How are you liking the Low Rider?
With all the snow you guys get there, how do you get by without a car or truck? I know you aren’t riding when the roads are full of snow
Trains
Believe it or not, last year for example, I could count the days on one hand where road conditions were unreliable due to snow - Funny too, because on those days you would still see the delivery guys pushing through it on all sort of motorized scooters
@@FXDLSBrooklyn that’s how this year has been in Michigan. On the really bad years what’s the move then?
While my 2011 dyna street bob 11 tire shredder is not the most extreme build out there, (106hp122tq more than enough to get into trouble with) I just can't justify trading it in and getting next to nothing for it just to have the latest and greatest being the low rider st. Besides I also have a 2020 z900 if I want to haul ass.....not to mention both bikes are paid for, just my two cents!!!!
Yeah man with numbers like that, you'll be just fine 🗽⚡️
Do you have the link for that seat?
Dude I looked and couldn't find it - Hit them on their website or on social media and they can assist you, they're responsive
It's not worth 20 / 25k..and then have to upgrade engine and suspension...I'd rather spend a bit more and go Street or road glide.
I think the point would be to leave the motor and suspension alone - More than capable stock from the miles I did
@@FXDLSBrooklyn most probably is but you well know this becomes an addiction to start upgrading.. street or road glide it's going to become a money pit as well...too much good shit to leave stock and we always want more power..😎
I know absolutely no one that's selling a dyna for a ST. Maybe buy both but not sell the dyna
I do have a few friends that did it, specifically for the M8 platform in general - It would be a have both situations for me
Sold my low rider ST and kept my Low rider S, both 2022’s it’s just better to keep the S with the type of riding im doing and I just prefer the look of the S, I prefer the single gauge as opposed to the digital riser gauge, if I was gonna do trips then I’d have kept it but if ima be realistic I don’t see any trips anytime soon unfortunately
shit, i just ordered an 03 st and i got it coming with the s single gage, bet im going see alot of that.
I hear you - For me it would be double gauges or nothing
I traded my stock Dyna low rider 2015 for the ST
How'd that pan out for you?
Absolutely not. Keep the OG . However, I did trade in my 2014 Dyna for my sick 2022 RG spl.
Yeah the FXDLS is definitely staying with me forever - Congrats on the RG, buddy of mine got one and isn't complaining 🗽⚡️
Can you do a vid on the ultra rare FXDP Defender?
Frankie? Is that you?
The new bikes are awesome but anyone can buy one so the cool factor is lost. There is nothing like having a one off cool factor bike that makes you feel good and when you’re out everyone wants to talk about your cool bike.
100% - I'm in the best of both worlds camp for this
I always thought of harley as a brand that you buy and keep forever. Always buy more, but never sell them!
Definitely is true for me, there's some bikes I will not part with
I want one but can’t justify the 30k cad. Then easily another 3-5 k to get it where I want it. I’ll be buying another fxdx.
It's true for sure - But also if you heavy into an FXDX, including stabilizers and all the works, you're looking at laying out some money
@@FXDLSBrooklyn for sure. I have an fxr and I’m over it. Seems it’s always something else breaking. Bike was down a lot last season.
Lmao Dynas are still going strong this title is misleading everyone I know here prefers their Dyna
I traded mine for 22 RKS & miss it
Never too late to get it back
Nope, don't trade your Dyna in!
Yeah definitely not a bike I could lose
⚡
🗽⚡️
Not everyone, only the sellouts
👀
DYNA all day…
Always 🗽⚡️
I know these new HDs are faster but I can buy a stock 600cc sport bike and ride circles around a Harley lol or my dream Japanese bike Suzuki 1300 B-King , stop with the performance Harley Davidson, it even sounds funny, I ride a Harley Davidson for the feeling and going fast especially in NY will get you a fast track to the grave, just ride , cruise and take it easy, that’s what Harley Davidsons are for, Performance lol
You ride on yet?
I really like this analogy
👎👎👎👎👎👎 🤣🤣🤣🤣.... good video bro nonetheless
haha I knew you would enjoy this topic 🗽⚡️
Also let me know when you're ready to set up that tee order - You got my email
@FXDLS Brooklyn shit ... sorry man... life has been crazy my guy... gimme until next week to get situated and bring up your email from the other day...🤙🤙🤙
