Thanks! It was a great litter. In fact, Junior (who I've made a couple of videos of) is in that pile of puppies. Thanks for your comment! I appreciate it!
Live in NW Oklahoma myself and can tell you that the quail are way, way down in our area as well. Sad situation. Enjoyed the video, and your Brits. Thanks for sharing..
Monte I live in northern Georgia and I haven’t seen quail on my place in 40 yrs, 3 hrs south they have quail maybe more habitat there and more food source 👍🏻
Having never hunted in cactus country, you answered my first question about dog's paws, Thanks. I'm in Minnesota and tomorrow ends our pheasant season. Snow depth ended it actually a week ago.
We definitely earned the two birds... but you're right, it was such a good ending (including me doing my part with the shotgun) that I felt good about the trip overall when I started back home after lunch. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
I'm convinced they need them. They'll be wearing them around the house and farm this summer to get used to them. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Hello from Eastern Oklahoma! Good Video! The bird hunting in Oklahoma has suffered lately. The Wildlife Department doesn't do a whole lot for habitat on public land. In recent years it seems they are trying to do better in some areas. We as a group, there's 8 of us, decided the best thing they could do on most public lands is to burn off the old growth. But I see habitat and predators being the biggest problem. I guess I need to take up coyote hunting. I really like your truck camping setup. Mines not nearly as cozy. Thanks for letting me tag along! Love the Brittneys. Happy New Year! God Bless!
Thanks for watching and for your comment! I actually just got back home from another short trip to Oklahoma. I went to a different WMA this year but that is still in NW Oklahoma. Probably shouldn't have done that as I'm still figuring things out. Anyway, I got into some birds (but not a ton). Also, I had boots on my dogs this year. I did think that some of the cover was too thick to be ideal for quail... maybe there was a little more rain there this past summer? I like Oklahoma for quail and will definitely be back. Thanks again!
Subscriber # 616 here! The Michigan video made me subscribe but it seems like I'm going to enjoy all of your videos if they are like the 2 I've seen so far. Awesome work!
That was interesting. Amazingly, I live in Tulsa and I’m down to one good Brittany but still find birds on public land far east of where you were and no sandburrs and no porcupines.
That's great that you've got good birds close to home! I'm pretty sure there were more birds where I was hunting than what we found. Hopefully I'll be more on target next time. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Enjoyed the video. I was researching pheasant hunting in OK and found it. Im in texas and have been looking for some adjacent pheasant and quail hunting. I really like the truck camp set up ya have too. Are you able to camp at the walk in areas? Or are you camped at a different location? Im looking at the walk in areas on the western portion of the state. If I may ask...were you targeting those same areas?
Thanks for watching and for your comment! I don't know that this part of OK is known for pheasants, but we did find some. I was at a WMA in the panhandle of the state, and I did camp in the WMA. I'm enjoying the truck camping and I'll camp just about anywhere... including rest areas or truck stops on long trips to get where I'm going. Works well. Thanks again!
I'm in eastern KY. I've had a couple of requests now for a camping/dog setup video. I'll definitely get one of those together for ideas. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion!
Excellent. Nice hunt Thanks for the ride along, Did you find water? Been sleeping in the truck since I've had a truck, Good way to go. How did the pups turn out? are they spoken for ??
Thanks! I didn't find any water. In fact, there was a riverbed not far away that was completely dry. I'm hoping there will be more moisture there this coming year. The pups are great. We had 10, and all are spoken for except one female and two males. They should be ready for homes the last week of Feb or first week of March. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching! I've watched a number of your excellent videos and know you do put quite a few birds in the bag. In fact, it was some of your videos that initially increased my interest in making the trip to Oklahoma. Great stuff! Thanks again!
@@thebirdbum9182 We've had three years of dry summers with lots of heat that has, in my humble opinion, negatively affected the quail hatch. In particular the number of scaled (blue) quail seems to be noticeably down. However, it seems that El Nino has maybe decided to help us out and send some timely rains. Hope springs eternal in a quail hunter's heart! Last season was tough but when numbers are even average those sage hills offer some wonderful bird hunting opportunities. Bring those Brittanies back and I'll spend a day or two afield with you.
@@wanderingwingshooter Sounds good! I've heard some rumors that maybe conditions might be better this spring. Unfortunately, I have to work around a work schedule for these longer trips, but I'm hoping to make it out again the week between Christmas and New Years. Thanks for your offer, and I'll keep you posted.
Just watched all of your videos. Truly enjoyed them. Some beautiful videography and good storytelling. You’re like the Eric Forrester of Brittany Spaniels. Any relation? Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for your comment and for watching the videos! I believe I have watched all of Eric's videos... he has a great channel. I know Eric from running in NSTRA, but we're not related... though some have said we look quite a bit alike. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching and subscribing! I'll definitely add more videos. I've gotten some requests for a video of the truck camping setup, so that will likely be the next. Thanks again!
Thanks for watching the videos! I live in Kentucky. I was actually thinking about making a late-season trip south to hunt Woodcock, but I can't this year because we have young puppies. Maybe next season? They are one of my favorite birds to hunt. Thanks for the invite!
I think that where you're talking about was a hen pheasant. Can't shoot hens in Oklahoma, so had to pass on the shot. Thanks for watching the video and for your question.
Love your dogs. Britts are so versatile and quick to pick up skills on the fly.
You really earned those birds.
I agree about Britts and on earning those birds!
Nice hunt and good shooting. Thanks so much for taking us along! Blessings!
Thank you!
Watching good dogs hunt is pure art in motion! Looked like a good healthy litter there at the end!
Thanks! It was a great litter. In fact, Junior (who I've made a couple of videos of) is in that pile of puppies. Thanks for your comment! I appreciate it!

My season is wrapping up, too... unfortunately. Thanks for watching
Man you and the dogs earned those 2 quail! I bet that felt great to connect on a double after all that walking. Makes that lunch taste all the better!
We definitely earned the two birds... but you're right, it was such a good ending (including me doing my part with the shotgun) that I felt good about the trip overall when I started back home after lunch. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Hello this is your niece Grace, I'm glad ge hunt went well!
Thanks Grace!!
Enjoyed watching. I ran boots and bras on my setters. They loved wearing them after they got use to it.
I'm convinced they need them. They'll be wearing them around the house and farm this summer to get used to them. Thanks for watching and for your comment!
That is some pretty baby puppies.
This was a great litter... they're 11 weeks old now. Thanks for watching!

Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching and for your comment!
Great trip and hunt and some good eating , I enjoyed it and nice litter of pups congrats 🇺🇸👍🏻
That was some good eating.. and it almost didn't happen. Got some birds in hand just in time! Thanks for watching!

Hello from Moscow 🤝! It 's a pleasure to watch how dogs work. Nice hunting man , nice !
Thank you!
Nice dogs! I hunted near liberal Kansas several years ago and my dog really needed boots as the sand spurs were hard on the paws
They are.. and my fingers even got raw pulling them out.

Great thanks we’re near Cincinnati so not to far
Nice video Brady! I’ve often considered OK as a destination. We’re you in an area that may have had scaled quail also or just bobs?
Thanks Eric! There was the possibility for scaled quail, but what I was hearing was bobs.

Always fun hunting a new area even if you don't see a lot of birds

Love these videos,
Where do u live?
Come meet me for a woodcock hunt

Next year you’ll have to take the legs. More meat than you think and you won’t regret it
I agree... and I should have taken them this time. Thanks for your comment and for watching!
