    Your video is as interesting as the black walnut videos on Ty Ty Nursery from the State of Georgia.

    Thank you very much smart lady! I thought that was very interesting that the male flowers and female flowers are on different parts of the tree. -- Learn something new every day!

    Hi, I must admit that I did love this vdo. Very well done and explained. However, I would appreciate if you could let me how exactly do you grow a walnut tree (is there a seed or do you put the walnut into the soil), and also how long (I know it takes years), before the tree bears fruit.

    thanks for sharing. I recently bought land and found that there are lots of walnut trees. I was planning to garden and plant herbs, tomatoes, fruits and do other gardening activities; I was told it is not possible to plant anything else or I had to cut down the walnut trees? what do you think I should do?

    I am a grandson of an Iranian (Persian) walnut farmer. My grandfather used to plant 10-15 walnuts nuts (in the hard shell, but not the soft shell) in the same spot in a spiral formation. It is best to choose nuts from different trees. This will take care of the cross pollination need. Why planting 10-15 nuts together? First, maybe up to half of the nuts will never germinate. Whatever germinates, becomes one strong tree. This tree will not get as tall of a typical 40-60' tree, making harvesting easy. It also produce much more nuts than if you plant a single nut.

    I grew two English walnut trees in my back yard. They were quite productive, but unfortunately, the local squirrels decided to rob the trees of their fruit in July, several months befor the nuts were ripe. After two or three years of frustration, the trees ended up as either compost, or fuel for my smoker.

    • @tangokaleidos1926
      @tangokaleidos1926 3 роки тому

      sorry to hear how they ended up. Actually, for the first 3 years, the squirrels were doing you a favor as you don't want to allow your trees to produce nuts those years.

    Hi, I have two questions.
    1. I have a walnut tree and its about 10 years old now, how long does it take before fruiting? Every year it just grows leave and gets taller.
    2. Do all trees have to be grafted, if so would it be too late to graft onto mine?

    • @MsMathslessons
      @MsMathslessons 9 років тому

      It's ok, I have got my answer.
      For taste, i have to graft. So where does one obtain these cuttings?

    • @MsMathslessons

      GrowOrganic Peaceful Valley
      Thank you for your reply.
      I am in England, the Midlands.
      The tree was grown from a seed and is approximately four metres tall.
      Shall I wait until it fruits, before deciding to graft?
      Or is it certain that the taste will be unpalatable?
      If the situation arrives to a graft, which part of the tree do I select.
      The central vertical part or one of the side branch?

    what would happen to my production if I didn't water/irrigate my trees at all? I live in a temperate climate Black Sea area with moderate temperatures and an annual rainfall of 470mm. I understand the required water is 600mm. would I lose some production and if so, how much in % terms?
