damn always loved the drums on this and definitely puzzled me as a kid cuz it sounded like too many things were being played at once lol and the fact taylor changed how he played it over the years live
One reason it may sounds that way is that the drums are actually double-tracked. Dave played it once in one room, and then he played it again in this massive other room that was almost like a parking garage. The tiny imperfections in timing between the two tracks create a flamming effect. So it sounds like more drums are being played than really are.
Wow.. Big drums and fat snare.. would be really intresting to hear another drum track song recorded by Grohl: "I Sat By The Ocean" by Queens of the Stone Age, that song has one of the best fat snares recorded in rock
One part (bass and toms) recorded in a parking garage, and the other part (snare and cymbals... and maybe bass and toms too?) recorded in studio. There's a video on recreating the drum track.
Hi, nice video, thanks! Can you confirm if my perception is right? It's a kinda impossible to play EXACTLY this with only 2 hands right? hahaha. I mean, pay attention, hit hat is on the quarter notes while toms are hitted with flam intention and there are some ghost notes on snare! Of course, it's a studio version, they can and honestly should benefit from record another isolated track with toms... or ask dave: Hey, can you help me here? hahaha anyway, I'm not saying that is an impossiblie song to play live, there are so many ways to overcome and sound awesome :)
This is due to the fact that the bass drum and toms were recorded in a parking garage to give some natural reverb and the snare and cymbals were recorded in studio to keep them clean. Really cool how they did it.
Is there any chance of a Seru Giran song? For example: "A los jóvenes de ayer" or "La grasa de las capitales". Seru Giran is probably the greatest band in Latin America of all times, check them out, trust me. Greetings from Argentina

It's very pleasant to hear this isolated drum. My Hero motivated me to start learning to play the drums.

@@rome8180That’s a perfect explanation. I think the flam sound at the beginning is awesome.
This has become one of my favorite UA-cam channels. Rock on, bro ✌️
Cool comment. Thanks bro ))
@@kiboko_drummer if you take requests, can you provide the isolated drums for Nirvana's "Oh, The Guilt"
I need a cigarette now.

God like
Didn't I read somewhere he recorded two full drum tracks and doubled them up for this one?
Though I can't say I definitely hear that in this so now I'm unsure...
at the beginning I believe

Yep, the intro consists of William goldsmiths part and Dave’s added part over the top.

I think you're right. It's most likely an overlay. If there is an original live on UA-cam, you can see how it was played live.
This is due to the fact that the bass drum and toms were recorded in a parking garage to give some natural reverb and the snare and cymbals were recorded in studio to keep them clean. Really cool how they did it.
@@bagenius5970Wow, I never knew that. I always wondered how he got that great sound from the toms. Thanks!

Greeting. I don't have such tracks.
More RHCP songs please
Ok.
