The GREAT Datsun 620 Truck! My Dad bought a brand new one in 1973, the first year introduced to the States. Four years later, he gave it to me. I drove it until 1979 and sold it. I then, used that money to pay down on a brand new 1979 Datsun 620 King Cab. Unlucky for me, less than two years later, I was involved in a bad crash and totaled out the truck. When, I recuperated several months later, I bought a 1980 Datsun 720 Truck. I bought it in January 1981, as a "hold-over" truck. However, I still liked the 620 model better. Good luck with your build. :)
I bought a ‘73 in 77 for $1500. Nice to drive, was very good in the snow with good snow tires, (I’m from Canada 😁). Only issue I had was that the 1600 cc engine did not pull very strong, at least no where near as good as my uncle’s Datsun 510 sedan. Any way, I digress, my truck was red and had silver rims. If your interested in keeping it stockish, I believe silver was the colour of pretty much all the rims on these trucks. Great project, have fun.
They were beautiful little trucks alright, however, whare your from and whare I'm from, they never lasted because the road salts and chemicals ate these little girls up really bad.
I'm from Michigan and when I was young I used to buy these trucks for five $600 sometimes 8 the body was good and they were the best trucks ever I must have put hundreds of thousand miles on it was awesome
I had a dozen of these and a barn full of parts back in 1990 wish i still had all of it. I also had a 73 620 with a 400 small block that I drove as a daily driver.
I just ran across your channel by accident and I like what I've seen. Congratulations on the great finding. It really does have character, so slam it like no other.
Thats a cute ass truck ...Im glad we dont have smell- O- rama. Thats a great truck....very cool. Your car guys and a "tina". I didnt see you power wash the engine compartment ??? You got a good deal at 400. I know you didnt say undercoat, You do mean bedliner ?( two component bedliner is the only undercoat you should use ( I know you guys and a "tina" know that. Transmissions in those trucks always go because they are. Car and not heavy duty truck trans. So its common. Hey tina doesn't have to pole dance all the time.. But it adds a new dimension to the two guys build cars on you tube thing. That she is around being cute ,I call your show Two Guys and a "Tina" Im trying to get one of those trucks sitting in a junk yard they will want more than 400 I know. Id keep the pat"tina" just Get it up and running till you feel what you want to modd. Get it dependable then you can always tweek it. You have enough projects to finish. That is a great buy...but focus on the projects you already started winters coming not far away....Thank god, I moved from New England to Florida...
I had one of theses trucks grown up and it's out lasted all of my newer family cars and trucks . That's why now I own Nissan trucks I have the hardbody d21
OK guys. What you do have here is a Ford product. Ford bought the Nissan Z engine off of Nissan in 1990. A Mercury Villager IS a Nissan Quest. The Datsun 240,260, 280 and the 300' a were straight Ford six cylinder engines in that car. I can go on, however, you get my point. Ford, Nissan,Mazda, Jaguar, Volvo, Austin Martin and Kia are all tied in with each other. The Ford Courrier was a Mazda, and the Ford Aspire was made by Kia fir Ford. I went to school with a kid who had a Ford Aspire and when you looked at tte drivers side tag, it said, Kia Motor Corporation on it. I can go on with many other specifics about all of this to, if your interested in reading about them.
I found and bought one of these but it's a dually made for a full camper but the camper was torn off. Paid $70 for it and drug it home. Some pc of garbage tweaker cut all the wires out of it but will re-do the wiring if the motor runs....wish us luck! Would like to see your truck now....got it running? Rockers replaced? How many dead animals were inside the cab? Lol....good luck!
Damn that's rad you don't see the dullies pop up often, will make a bad ass project. Sucks about the tweakers and the wiring lol. I honestly haven't touched it this winter. I bought a five speed and clutch for it in the next video and haven't touched it since. I probably pulled 50-75 pounds of who knows what out of the cab haha As soon as I get my girlfriends E30 done I'm going to focus on the Truck and my Z car so should have another video up with it hopefully running soon.
Ive been taking some time off. I had to prepare for our baby Silvia but she's here now and I was actually thinking about making some videos again really soon. This one is a top priority. Thanks for taking the time to check it out
Looks like a 1976. If it has disc brakes on front, it is a 1977. I had a 1975, certainly worth what you paid for it, with such low mileage. Like the styling of these from 1972.5 - 1979.
That's what the Japanese are noted for. They change their body styles in the half of the year, and move on to the next, newer designed cars and trucks for the following year.
It looks like a 1974 Datsun a little surface rust. Are you planning on a full restoration? If you came to Elmira NY to buy an antique or classic vehicle it would possibly be in a lot worse shape
Not a 1974, doesn't have the black plastic vent on the B pillar. 1975 was the last year for that. 1974 was the only year for the 1.8 litre engine. like the 1974 Z car, the 260Z was only in 1974. I think it's a 1976, if it has drum brakes on the front.
I wasn't aware of that when I bought it but not that I know a little more it does seem like the majority that pop up for sale are extended cabs. I definitely lucked out
I had one identical to it that I bought new in1974. It was yellow also and they came with white walls back in the day. Would love to find another one like it and relive my teenage years.
They are out there if you're willing to have one shipped from out of state or travel. Unless you're fortunate enough to live in a state with a lot of Datsuns like California. Just check FB marketplace and Craigslist often and you're bound to find one sooner or later. Maybe this one will be for sale later this year after I fix it up
They may have had it built for the Datsun I'm not sure. The previous owner told me they pulled it behind their camper, it was just two bolts and it bolted right up.
my aunt bf just passed and had a 620 sitting in his garage since 1998 with only 31k miles i just bought it and I love the lil truck check it out on my channel
Where do you find the rockers?? I just bought a 73 yesterday 7/12/2018 and I deff didn’t spend 400$ on it....anyway I’d be pumped to hear back thx brother!!
Tabcoparts.com has left and right side rockers for the 620. I haven't dealt with them personally but from what I have read they seem to fit well and they are about $40 a piece. Congrats on the 73! Thanks for checking out the video. tabcoparts.com/pickup-trucks/datsun/620-pickup-1973-1979/16840.html
Make sure to subscribe so you get updates on the 620. Picking up a 5 speed this week hopefully we can get it started. Good luck on the project and thanks for checking out the video.
Sang you got ripped off with the tires. Where I live you can find new tires for that truck for around $50 each including balance. Used tires can be found for a bit cheaper but it's hit or miss on quality and price.
I was trying to find tires with the same white stripe. White walls aren't the easiest thing to find, I could have got used tires for $20 a piece down the street. I typically do this when I buy snow tires for whatever winter car I have
@@JoeySkidz Hope you keep it stock, and not lower it or put wagon wheels and thin tires on it. Also, wouldn't hurt to spray paint the chassis and floorboards along with the frame with black rust olem paint to keep her from rusting out. Be kind to her, and she'll give you still many, many more years of use and run very well for you.
Brother!!! Do you think you could help me find a rear end??!!! I’m in need big time only issue is I live in hawaii but I’m down to pay for time and shipping and part of coarse

I had a 1977 Datsun truck, loved it, very much. Wish they still would make these little trucks today.

I bet that 73 with the small block ripped! Man too bad you didn't keep them everyone wants a 620 now,
I've been looking for a good standard cab short bed for a while. I still have a nos clock in the datsun box
@@David.Colvin was that the older more square body?. There was one in town with a 283 that was squirrely little rocket I rode in, sb400 woooooooo 😎
no it was the 620 your thinking of the 521.@@dezrat

Man I need this truck
I'm about to bring this project back in a couple months. Putting a CA18DET in and doing a Beebani kit with some bags
Cool don’t know how can someone waste a little lovely thing like that one ☝️
Seems crazy to me all he had to do was put a new trans in he already pulled the old one and then let it sit for 16 years lol
Beautiful pick up in Beautiful girl
