This is all so true, Michelle! My environment affects me deeply, and I am home during the day while my husband is at work and my kids are at school. I need my environment to be nice and to look good. My husband does not understand this at all. He thinks everything is “good enough”. We built our house quite some time ago and it needs a lot of updating, and it is like pulling teeth to get him to go along with any of that. You are pretty lucky to have a husband that doesn’t seem to mind updating your home, and even helping you with your projects. 😊

I've done a decent amount of woodwork. The most important thing when refinishing wood with new stain is the preparation. You need to sand all previous finishes and wood until you are at the bare wood. This means if there's previous stain, sand wood until that's all gone, then you can stain. I don't think your table was prepared well enough for it to absorb the new stain. That's why the stain was wiping off. I think you might also have issues with a top coat if your current surface is sticky.
Love the video! For the console table - it would give you the results you’re looking for by sanding it before hand! Right now the stain doesn’t have anything to stick to so it’s going to show the brown underneath. A polyurethane on top would help to seal it too! Just a few tips I leaned from our many failed DIY’s 😆

I love the extra talking which provides so much to your viewers, I.e. not afraid to show and tell us you are not perfect, letting us know how much time things took, giving us inspiration and motivational tips. Love the new console! It might also look great with added legs. Just a thought, it’s beautiful as is, too! I love your rug, sofa, kitchen cabinets, countertops and white flowers at sink. Hi Michelle. Thanks for your sharing and motivation. Nicely done and you got everything tidy and cleaned up.🥰And saw u using a wired vacuum, if you need a cordless one, you may take a look at Prettycare
We always strip or sand before staining. Not sure if you did that but we get the best results that way. More work but works out better.
Also I think you put to much. Next time thinner layers and wiping if it’s not dark you can apply more in between drying to avoid the sticky.

I love your chatty videos! I have stained a little bit and have not sanded. I use a gel stain and a polycrylic to seal it. I’ve always loved those tall vases but I understand why it was time to let them go! 😊

I love staining old furniture.
You gotta put a sealer on it to get rid of the stickiness with that kind of stain!
Hi Michelle....you do need to sand your furniture first before applying the stain. Your table looks good in the video but the finish may not hold up well against wear and tear. I love that you're chatty it keeps things interesting and makes me feel connected keep it up please. I love your new media cabinet, you have great taste.

I wouldn't wipe the stain after you put it on. Let it really dry completely for days. Don't bring it inside until its completely dry. I think it looks great. That stain usually doesn't need a sealer but if you think you'll be putting a lot if items on it then you might want to seal it. But its got to dry really well also. The round black coffee table should look nice.

You need to spray your house inside and out and specially underneath furniture for spiders, it seems you have a lot that was to many eggs under that furniture
