      Michael Prag you can't do that in the UK it's intrapment within certain circumstances ofcourse.

    • @Mikepragland
      @Mikepragland 7 років тому +103

      i thought it might be... I can understand entrapment for something minor, like an otherwise nice guy seeing a wallet on the ground that the police had planted and taking their chances... that to me would be entrapment. But your average joe doesn't just take their 'chances' and try and steal a motorbike thats locked.
      The UK's law needs some updating

    • @AutomatricsMtrack
      @AutomatricsMtrack  7 років тому +44

      You can add security protection to any asset that's at risk of theft. In hot spot areas where the theft risk is greater people often ask the police for advice.
      As a part of the police security advice they can officially demonstrate and recommend to install any CPI Secured By Design (SBD) police preferred product or security tracking system.
      As Automatrics theft recovery tracking have Secured By design approval I cannot see a demonstration fitted unit being regarded as entrapment, although I guess in theoiry a would be thief could actually be caught during a demo lol

      New bike chains don't need lubrication like older roller chains. They are internally lubricated and sealed with o rings inside the links. No need for extra lubrication. That actually makes them collect more dirt, dust, and road grime. It's best you just clean them periodically and keep them dry, not oiled.

    • @remb9614
      @remb9614 4 роки тому +3

      Jordan Paulsen you have to use o-ring chain lube but they do need lube. Most people’s problem is poor maintenance and either over-lubricating or not lubricating at all.

      London we guess could be quite hard for owners to find secure parking. If someone really wants it they will have it regardless. We recovered 2 x stolen BMW RR with two of our separate tracking systems inside, stolen the same night from the same high security car park in North East London, with double locks, 24/7 man guarding and CCTV. We also witnessed and found a second stolen R6 in the garden shed so there are plenty of other victims out there especially R6 owners....... as one of the worlds most stolen motorcycles.

    • @EinkOLED
      @EinkOLED 7 років тому +77

      With this tracker, it seems he can park it anywhere. And this helps fight crime. Also these trackers can be hidden and cannot be distinguished. If every bike in London had one, bike theft would drop significantly.

    • @draifly7925
      @draifly7925 7 років тому +21

      grapewater123 exactly my thought, I have no sympathy for ppl who don't store their bike inside a the house, garage or back yard. Having it locked to a lamp post over night is just stupid. If you don't have a decent enough place for it don't have a bike.

    • @grapewater123
      @grapewater123 7 років тому +14

      Drai fly Well said!
      I used to have an R6 for about 2 years and lived in London back then.. Ideally I'd never leave the thing if I took it out, but if I had to I'd make sure I had somewhere in mind to put it before I left. If you have to take it to work and you can't find somewhere safe at work id speak to someplace close by ideally like a car mechanics or someplace like that and lock it up there where someone who knows who's bike it is, and is constantly around it at all time.
      You'd be surprised how many places that would let you leave a nice bike on there premises. But if I had to give them few pennies I would too :)
      If you can't do that and the only option is the street, then don't use it. Simple.
      Also never park a bike in secure unground parking .. especially at a residential address, thats a crime scene waiting to happen.
      Because at 3am when everyone's fast asleep and the thieves come out, no one will hear them smashing your locks off from deep underground.

I really like the idea of sending a dedicated member of staff for a hunt with that 'echo radar device'. If it's true that you really recover 98% of stolen bikes with this device I guess you've just earned another customer. I've got GPS on my bikes but THIS looks like a product for me. Especially that my dear friend and neighbour had two of his bikes stolen and couple of attempts in the last three years.

      You may have noticed some of our other theft recovery videos , 50% of the stuff we have protected for the last 10 years is plant equipment , its worth a lot of money , its difficult to identify, easy to resell and involves organised crime. These criminals are experts in what they do and a GPS only location tracker for security is a total waste of time especially if it gets jammed or cannot see the sky like when this equipment is hidden in the back of a van or a shipping container.
      People really do need to understand the difference between a GPS tracker and a professional theft recovery system provider.
      In this case it looks like you have sussed that one out :)

    my Buddy called me once when I was driving into town and he told me his bike got stolen. so as we were talking I looked up at the pickup truck in front of me. Me: "Did you get that exhaust put on after?" Him: "Yea, why?" Me: "Found it." Even luckier there was a cop next to me at the lights so I hopped out and got infront of the truck while shouting for the cop. So my buddy got his bike back and the kid who stole his bike topd the police about the whole theft ring going on. There hasnt been a stolen car nor bike in the city since the cops arested the 20 man theft group

    • @AutomatricsMtrack
      @AutomatricsMtrack  7 років тому

      When you say it works very well do you mean you have recovered a stolen car with it ? This is not something we have heard about before .....generally speaking GPS DIY systems are not something people could reasonably rely on for theft recovery security needs for a whole bunch of reasons which are written elsewhere in our repliy comments on this video

    • @hippopotamus86
      @hippopotamus86 7 років тому +5

      I test it regularly, it's never failed. It's completely hidden. I don't really see the need for a pay monthly / yearly tracker. I work with companies that fit trackers to plant vehicles, and there is nothing those £500 trackers can do that this £12 can't. I know yours also have RF tracking which is more ideal on bikes since they can be hidden, but my car isn't the sort of car someone would expect a tracker to be installed on. If I were driving a £50k car, I would probably choose something a bit more robust. It's besides the point anyway as I didn't install it for a security reason.
      I'm actually testing out several cheap trackers, and working with the manufacturer to have redesigned / repackaged for a particular niche.
      P.S, I can't find the comments you mentioned.

      DIY tracker issues
      1 The majority waste police time as they repeat last known position if later hidden from GPS view (which basically sends resource to the wrong location)
      2 Police have no confidence in DIY devices due to their poor performance in theft situation experiance
      2 Based on the above and non independent approved tests the police response is very poor if at all
      3 The SIM card is not M2M contract standard so more volatile and needs constant user management
      4 The SIM may be forced to GPRS so unable to report in poor reception area's (SMS enable required)
      5 The SIM cannot roam all UK networks for maximum coverage, also global roaming needed
      6 The SIM can get locked to cell network who will mage the SIM technically to release a locked SIM
      7 Poor support if any from manufacturer
      8 Not recognised by insurer so may not be covered for theft insurance if an approved device is mandated
      9 Defeated by a simple GPS jammer (GPS is not a secure or secret frequency and very low powered)
      10 Battery versions don't last long before need a recharge
      11 Live wired units can be scanned, traced and removed by bandits
      12 Not tested in real world needs to be accurate and withstand high temp, impact or environment required
      13 Poor quality components which use high power consumption
      14 Designed for fun not security
      15 user portal front end commercial mapping license is not existing.. Google shut down free sites which do not comply to their commercial licensing every day. Cut and paste co-ordinates system is not ideal and difficult to use
      16 No GSM cell mapping feature to see where the bike is if stored in underground car park etc
      17 No Timing Advance feature (where we gain a better location on Cell map triangulation)
      18 No RF beacon for indoor location tracking
      19 No customer 24/7 support for maintenance, testing or actual theft recovery support
      20 No at theft support team if needed
      21 No or very poor product warranty

    • @hippopotamus86
      @hippopotamus86 7 років тому +1

      AutomatricsMTrack Well most of the points are your own assumptions of other products. Do you not use GPS / cell site positioning to locate the device? therefore isn't your tracker susceptible to all the points you mentioned about using networks, loss of signal etc? Also aren't yours battery operated as per your website? Isn't the Maxima you're using actually intended for tracking pets? That's all the information I could find on the device.

      Not sure what friend or company that was for but that's certainly not our experience. The difference is we have people who find the stolen asset there and then using RF finding equipment on site. The police always attend Automatrics recoveries and they will usually attend within 20 minutes or so but in London it can be longer especially if Friday or Saturday night. The longest we had to wait was about 8 hours but we never left the stolen asset location and we remained there until the end. Automatrics supply professional theft recovery services with Thatcham and the only UK Police approved theft recovery tracking service. We also have a partner agreement with NaVCIS so they also help with our police response.
      You can see plenty full length versions of our recovery video logs on our UA-cam channel
      ua-cam.com/users/AutomatricsMtrack
      Ebay DIY GPS trackers have no credentials for motorcycle theft recovery and should not be relied upon.

You can run a Diamond cutting disk on most grinders now so you need to go to max level Heavy Duty, So when they show up they take a look and think "damn that lot is gonna take and ages to cut off, So if you Have locks that have built in alarm sounders gas cut only locks chains etc they should walk on by unless they are evil and Torch your bike because you stopped them taking it

      @@TheSLUser My god, thanks mate.
      Respect for giving me such detailed & amazing advices.
      I do live in a city, and we have a giant parking area right under my apartment where bicycles get stolen all the time.
      That's why I've been really nervous about parking there, so this really helps out.
      I'm studying at a university, and have to leave my bike out for 8-10 hours each day aswell. Which simply makes me more nervous.
      You've got some great information, really.
      Do you perhaps know of a lock that's light and small enough for having in a backpack, and still strong enough for these dirtbags to shit themselfs?
      You've already given me all I need to find such locks of course, but I'm very new to motorcycles etc.
      Therefore I'd feel safer knowing what brands you pros recommend...😅
      Thanks anyway, I'll look into some locks that might work regarding to what you've written above.
      :))

    yeah your pride and joy and you chain it to a post on the street? Why not rent a garage or keep it in a mates garage or do what we use to and put it in the house. My dad use to keep his in the hallway and i kept mine in the dining room..... Also i would double chain it atleast. Even these boys said he was lucky to get it back in one piece so you can't just relie on the tracker.

      rent on garages in london is insane and most places wont allow a bike to be kept inside- plus the fact that if yo live in a flat you cant really lift an r6 up there everyday!

      98% theft recovery performance is pretty good for our professional tracking protection services , if you have the right provider performance odds are better .
      But certainly agree to deter a theft in the first instance must be better.
      I guess there will always be some scenario's where deterring theft could prove difficult........ so rather than cancel an entire outing a good theft recovery system can come into the overall risk evaluation process :)

      We have an optional remote control for end users to end the inbuilt motion sensor. Tomas had a remote but only used it on the third theft, we sent him a movement text and a few minutes later he called back to say it had been stolen.

      raWar you should clean the chain with a cloth and then use only light lube on it . This is the correct way to maintain these chains . But then what do I know I only worked in a motorbike shop for 5 years and 10 years in a bicycle shop but well done for your opinion and I hope you have learnt something .

      BBC Thief Trackers is a series of 10 programs which are all 30 minutes long. This one was from series two episode 6 which was broadcast in October 2016. The programs also include other tracking stories and sting operations to track stolen kit in London. Automatrics as a supporter of the program received an official copy of footage from the producers. We edited to show only our relevant content, we do describe this as "Automatrics version".
      We also featured in the BBC Thief Trackers series one program broadcast in October last year, this Automatrics version still retains the BBC intro......so you can check that one out ...its on the recovery of a stolen caravan hidden inside a building (blocking GPS signals)
      ua-cam.com/video/KjVfxDd9Odo/v-deo.html
      This story also helped the police make an arrest and conviction of the bandit which is a perfect result !

      Hi there,
      in future would you mind putting a flag on videos containing tags 'BBC'
      Or anything elicit or pornographic in nature as my two boys have access to youtube and i wouldnt want to block it due videos such as these which i wasnt aware were allowed on youtube. Thanks
      Regards,
      Sharon

    • @AutomatricsMtrack
      @AutomatricsMtrack  7 років тому

      Hi ....sorry but there is actually no added content other than the original BBC footage which was broadcast at 12.30 am on daytime TV ?
      Comments to UA-cam videos could include bad language.
      May be an idea to check UA-cam parental controls.
      Automatrics would flag any video we felt was inappropriate for children.

    I would be tempted to get a tracker for my quad, I've only had it for a month and I'd hate to have it stolen. Its really the joy of my life, I understand how these guys feel about their bikes tbh. I know that a quad isn't really a bike but I love it just as much as I would a bike, this company is pretty fucking awesome honestly.

    I have 3 Yamaha R6 motorcycles where I live you don't leave a $16,000 bike sitting outside anti theft system or not. If your going to own a super bike you either get a storage unit or buy a house with an attached garage. As these thieves get more brazen eventually they will figure out a faraday cage will keep the anti theft system from being able to send a single!!

      Guess Insurance is different in US. In the UK we always get hammered by additional charges in insurance premiums for a policy holder theft claim, for 5 years with all insurance suppliers (as they share customer claims profiles). Honestly ts like having a real bad credit rating. Nightmare, much better not to claim on the insurance if its the owners fault (and theft in the UK is treated as the owners fault)
      Then we also do want to try to catch the bandits or they just breed ........and cause more stress !

    • @roadtoad3484
      @roadtoad3484 7 років тому

      I talk to my insurance company and they told it wouldn't count against me if my bike got stolen. Also you should read this article from a bike thief. www.reddit.com/r/motorcycles/comments/t5shp/ex_thief_chopshop_operator_ama/

    • @AutomatricsMtrack
      @AutomatricsMtrack  7 років тому +2

      Yeah good link... I checked out some of that stuff. We don't use the same tracking technology as that to which he refers. Criminals in the UK for motorcycles are professional gangs, well trained and slick operators, but yeah the scooters are stolen by similar low life scum bags. This guy would get caught red handed within minutes of touching any bike protected by Automatrics MTrack system. Non scan-able, No wires to trace, no battery drain, silent motion alarm operated by remote control, GPS updates or GSM updates if GPS jammed.
      Hey we have never lost a protected motorcycle in 8 years, not a bad record. But we agree that any security system can be defeated........ so people should do their homework :)

    I had a motorcycle stolen years ago. The police did nothing but give me a crime number, over the phone, to save them coming out. A month later they rang me to see if I had found it (so they could take credit for solving a crime).

    Give me a break. If this were an Automatrics inside job, the bike would always have been abandoned in a public place, not private property with other stolen bikes. Nor would video footage of the perps exist.

    What british companies can do if they care about their customers is add trackers and have those trackers be registered with the motor bikes license plate
