A few select clips from the movie The Eiger Sanction. Thanks to Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer's "commentary" on the Venture Brothers for recommending this hidden jewel.
I always loved this movie. Loved it so much I stayed in this hotel (Kleine Shidig) at the base of the Eiger this month and it looks now just like it did in the movie - amazing! They have some Eastwood photo's on some of the walls. Beautiful hotel - great movie. Most incredible views from the hotel I have ever seen in my life (when we could just get the clouds to move out of the way for a few minutes).
We were in Grindelvaul located at the base of Mt. Eiger. From there we visited the Jung Frau otherwise known as the top of Europe. To get there we had to take a vernacular train up through Mt Eiger. At some point, it stopped so we could get out and see where the fight seen took place. It was all open in the movie but today there is a glass wall covering the entire opening. Going to the JungFrau was the highlight of that trip. No, it was the highlight of my life. If you go there make sure that it is a clear day, like we had. Clouds tend to ruin it.
When Jack Cassidy enters at 1:09 you have to love the way his voice trills and goes up an octave when he says "alone". Later when Hemlock is beating up the bodyguard the camera cuts back to Cassidy and the look on his face, excitement and fear, is unbelievable. I'd watch this movie again just to see his acting. ua-cam.com/video/58qidtqywa0/v-deo.html
I’m surprised that Clint was so blatantly macho that he had every woman he crossed paths with drooling over him. What the heck was with the hotel at the training camp with all the scantily clad bimbos?
Here is my ranking of the women in this movie by hotness: 1. Buns 2. George 3. Jemima 4. Horny art student 5. Madame Montaigne 6. Nosey reporter who ticks off Ben Bowman 7. Miss Cerberus
IF YOU KILL A MAN, IF YOU TAKE A MANS LIFE... Oh great, looks like I have mechanical legs now... CLINT? CLINT DID YOU GET THIS? Is this true? I have gills now? Oh alright, Yesterday I was playing the scene as if I didn't have them... but.
Don't worry, he got it. When you weave the absurd with the realistic, that's when magic happens. It's why i can't stop watching this film after 30 years.
Another 70's film that can never be made today.
Might have the best rock climbing & mountaineering scenes ever put in a movie.
comment on the insanity
You left out the best line...
Dragon: Twice a year I have to have my blood completely replaced.
Hemlock: With what?
A movie with so many great quotes, but that one always topped the list for me.

Hidden jewel??? This movie is a classic.
Was hoping for a little “beat it, buns”!
Apparently, Dragon changed his name to Jergens and left his government spy agency job to become a boxing promoter, working mostly with Apollo Creed.
Jack Cassidy (RIP) was great.
@Paul Kryder Self-destructive how?
Ironically, Jack Cassidy was bisexual.
He sure could turn on the smarm.
Fell asleep drunk with a lit cigarette not great
He was always good in _Columbo,_ really good in fact.
But that was about it.
Jack cassidy plays a great fruit lol
There were other Jonathan Hemlock novels ...this was Eastwood's only movie to use the hero.
It's total offensive nonsense. And because it's Clint Eastwood giving the lines, I love every bit of it.
Some great scenery and crazy dialogue. Especially the dental floss delivery 😄
Excellent movie one his best works!
Every good climber must see this.

I could just see the remake, it would have to be a silent film if they stuck to the original script!
Classic movie.
It is insane to hang out in your ski gear in a shaded cafe patio on a mountain that's completely green. C'mon man!
Some parts of this script wouldn't hold up well today.
Agreed, the joke about rape was pretty tasteless even for THAT time.
@@trwent
And having a pooch named _fa-got_
And Clint telling Jemima all about being a _Black Chic_
@@donarthiazi2443 How about George Kennedy telling that nosey reporter to "go get herself screwed"?
Don't forget the "decency...." line
No way could this film be remade today because it's so politically incorrect.
"you drive a hard bargain Hemlock"
This movie is camp gold
There was just something about that electric piano.
Soft.
Erotic.
Beautiful.
was looking for the clip when he interacted with mr dragon.
Luv this movie

hey that's a good name for a tv show
that was insanity. more from other films please.
I love the yorkie
Me too, so glad he lived in the movie. In the book the poor thing doesn't.
It's the "Valve" tune, so it's from Left 4 Dead, Half Life, Portal, Team Fortress ...
...For a gay guy, Jack Cassidy played a great gay guy.
No, that was the name of the dog.
The rumor was he was bi.
No George!
Aw. You missed out all the bits with Dragon. The Publick Hammer commentary is best when they're riffing on all his ailments
He did say, :Va-jamima
Good job. BTW, Is that you in the opening? ROFL@You and clip. :)
No Dragon?? OUTRAGEOUS!!

This movie is funny
John Williams... = tunes
I miss Jack cassidy
Is the opening music from Left 4 Dead or doth my ears deceive me?
You missed the best part of the first scene!
IF YOU KILL A MAN, IF YOU TAKE A MANS LIFE... Oh great, looks like I have mechanical legs now... CLINT? CLINT DID YOU GET THIS? Is this true? I have gills now? Oh alright, Yesterday I was playing the scene as if I didn't have them... but.
can u believe the # of Mack Bolan books? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Executioner_(book_series)
Where's the scene where he puts on the captain's hat and talks like a (stereotypical) gay?
Macho, love it
That first scene - they cut out the good part!
How is this a thing?
0:26..lol
Wtf I have seen this movie and I didn't remember any of this funny shit. Maybe it was censored.
The trouble is Eastwood didn't realise that Hemlock is a parody, and played him straight, along with the whole movie.
Don't worry, he got it. When you weave the absurd with the realistic, that's when magic happens. It's why i can't stop watching this film after 30 years.
A Great Score by John Williams ..Released finally in 2021..Excellent Score.. truly Horrible Film!
