As a current RA customer and purchaser of a few Biothane products as well as having a custom made Biothane multipurpose lead, I can say Biothane is an awesome product. However, it has its down sides. It does not work in as well as leather. If your dog runs off and the lead coils around your leg or slips from you hand, you will get a significant leash burn. However, the material is waterproof. Freezeproof and very durable. Every end must be stitched. I would recommend 2 rivers at each end of the stitching. The stitching on the non riveted end WILL unravel over time as a result of repeated bending. I know this from personal experience and had to call customer support to fix. I added rivets at each end of the stitch. NO ISSUES. IMO the only real design flaw. I strongly recommend producing the leads with 2 rivets at each end or making a custom lead. Only a few dollars more to get what you want.
I just purchased two biothane collars for my dogs. They have a strong chemical smell. And now my dog’s fur smells like chemicals. Is that normal for biothane to have a smell?
Omg thank you for explaining the rivet and stitching!! I was curious what would be the better option so I’m going for the stitching
Glad it was helpful!
