Great guide on Mengsk! I appreciate your videos since they're fun to watch, and it's nice to see others play Direct Strike lol. You give a lot of solid advice on Mengsk and I agree with most of it. I'd offer a few different suggestions in no particular order: 1. Shock Division placement should be in the mid-line of the staging area, or further back. This is because the attack of the range of the siege tanks is far higher than the vision range of your units. If your tanks are too close to the front line, then it allows your opponent to attack them, or disable them sooner. Manual devouring dehakas, stasis ward or dark archon mind control vorazuns, tychus dominate or cannonball stuns, kerrigan leaps, karax machine control, etc. If your tanks are anywhere near the front, then any competent player can manually (or auto) cast an ability to disable your high value unit which is catastrophic in the early - mid game. Placing them further back reduces this possibility. 2. Spend your exp ASAP in the first 10 minutes in the game. Mengsk is balanced around the royal guards. The longer you don't spend your EXP, the less value you get out of that EXP throughout the whole game. Usually your first purchase will end up being the Shock Division or Aegis Guard depending on who you're going up against. Sky Fury or Blackhammer opener is viable if you know your opponent is going to do something cheesy with the air, or is just plain unskilled at the game. 3. Abuse the low cost of Zerglings and Vanilla Troopers. If you strategically position zerglings, then you can force your opponent to auto attack them instead of your high dps units. The goal of the zerglings is tank shots from more expensive units while your own units can kill them. If you do this well enough, then you won't even need ultralisks until the mid-late game. With this same mindset, not all vanilla troopers need to be upgraded. If your opponent has air units and you can't afford a Blackhammer yet (or Sky Furies aren't viable in that match up), then you can use Vanilla Troopers to go in front of your LMG or Rocket Bois, and tank the shots as cheap fodder since units prioritize attacking the closest units that can attack them. This will protect your more expensive bois or Blackhammer, especially if those units tend to over target units with multiple attacks, thereby wasting their dps (think tempests & guardians). 4. Mutas are trash. The worst unit in Mengsk Roster lolol. Thanks again for making this guide. I'm sure you'll help lots of people play Mengsk 😀
just to add when you should go mutas: against things like alarak, where muta-medevac-sky fury messes him up for a long time until he can grow ascendants big enough. Against hnh to tank WILD missles from deimos. Stuff like that. They shouldn't be in most comps but they do have a few comps where they're good.
As a new beginner to direct strike, your mengsk guide has legit helped me tremendously. Winning with mengsk 9 out of 10. Im able to greedily gas up as my cannon fodder zerglings take aggro away from the LMG bois and still able to push through 1.5 waves if i dont get countered. Your guide here has made my enemies so much saltier and i love that. Thank you so much for the thorough guide and keep up your awesome content.
Dont forget the sky fury loses its bonus to armored air when it gains the massive bonus also the blackhammer is actually bad vs single target big air units (aka hyperions or leviathans) thats where the rocket boiz shine (Im still not apologizing for that aggro opener)
For the Sky Fury, I checked and even tho it loses the bonus damage to armour its overall damage on normal attacks is higher than the damage bonus it had vs armoured so it really effectively lost nothing
Thank you for all the hard work you put into these videos, if I may make a request, could you do Stukov next if you are going to continue to do commander videos?!
This is my fav commander since it's so diverse bug he seems so much weaker lately. I never played his when he was op though only last 3 mos I started playing DS
would be nice if Mengsk also has his contaminated strikes like his ESO could be upgraded two more times, one to poison enemies and one more to get them feared
win rate went up a lot thx a lot man also wondering how much changes because of warhound? warhound seems really good from what ive seen especially vs tychus
Heh. Fenix is a good benchmarker because of the fact that he has heroes but also 'normal' units so he does okay in most of the modifiers. The only real thing he struggles with is air power which doesn't come into play directly because of the modifiers.
@@WujoozBlazemanGaming tyvm for prompt reply. Love this channel when u play mengsk again could u say why u picking certain units? I know most viewers know but I'm very new and I only play mengsk so sometimes I have issues making counter plays. Zagara is a issue for me when she massed abbs and forgot his name but he has the tentacle tanks and when he masses all those blow up marines how do I counter? Or when Raynor goes mass bio etc?
I swear, this week's comm brawl is full of cancerous noobs. I can't even win a single game. Everyone rushes gas and t3 like it is double income. Some people even forget to use auras.

Mengsk with artanis shield special is beyond broken. Easy guaranteed push when you mass the bois and lings.

Ahhh i never knew that, might actually start building them again
while not quite correct, its still a good move v heavy air (looking at you abathur)
|Mengs counter most of Raynor can do" Oh the irony considering that in the lore, it is the other way around.

Ofc! I'm a bit busy as of now but I'll keep it on my list of Guides to make

I always end up filling your Ultralisk fields with Blackhammers because in mid game my teammates yell at me for building tanks instead of anti air ^^
Make medivacs for tanks ;)
Can you make Fenix guiide? This commander is a bit tricky and seems powerless against Zegara and Mengs, so guide would be nice.
I'll do my best! I'm not that much of a Fenix player myself hahah
@@WujoozBlazemanGaming Best of luck then, I hope you'll figure him out.
I'm looking forward to the guide.

Do you have some vids on how to counter abathur host spammers?
Burn it with fire and aegis guards
What are warhaounds used vs?
most mech units and heroes. they're tanky and have good dps

u sit on soooo much energy
its always good to keep some spare in case you gotta respond to enemy build switches
abathur sucks, probably the worst commander. It's sad cuz I like him. Most fun in coop mish for sure. Stetman can be good or bad but lacks tanking
