I’m planning to buy this lens. I currently own a canon 80D. Crop sensor. I’ve been using the 85mm for portraits. I’ve been getting great results. If I get a full body shot. The pictures tend to look grainy. Nervous on getting this lense since I’ve never tried it but after seeing this review. I’m definitely impressed
A Nice all rounder lens that I should consider buying for my 6D Mark II when I've finally bought it, should be around Xmas time if the price is at a suitable price.
Great video! How would you rate it against the new Batis 40mm? I am a Canon shooter with a 6D and couple of expensive and heavy 50 and 85mm primes. I am greatly tempted to buy a Sony full frame body with the Batis 40mm for daily walkaround use, but just getting this 35mm for my 6D would be lighter on my wallet instead of spending 3-4 grands.
That's a tough one. This lens is one of my favourite for use with Canon bodies, but the Zeiss Batis 40mm f/2 is one of my absolute favourite lenses for Sony bodies. This lens is definitely really nice for everyday use and you'd definitely get some really nice stuff using it and that's also true of the 40mm. You can check out our video on the Batis 40mm here if that helps: ua-cam.com/video/jRBExKlO1J8/v-deo.html Thanks :-)
Hi, yes it does, that's actually a really good point that I meant to bring up in the video. There is some noise when auto-focusing which would be picked up by an on-board microphone. I use an external microphone when filming so it has never been an issue, but it's definitely worth bearing in mind. Thanks :-)
Hi there! Thanks for the great video! I have one question: In this video: ua-cam.com/video/Qqiron4Z-fk/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DylanBass, Dylan says the autofocus is noisy for video (he demonstrates it). Do you have the same experience? P.S.: I use an external mic - a Zoom H1N mounted in a damper, which in turn is mounted in the hotshoe. Would the autofocus noise be audible?

Just ordered one yesterday, hoping it will be all you said. Thanks for the review.

Great video! Informative and keeps me engaged. Thank you
Would you say the image quality is sharper than the 50 1.8 or about the same?

Being a USM lens, does it make a noise with on-board mike in video autofocus?

Agree 100% with your review. Are you wearing lipstick?
