We'll start the day traveling to Arnhem to check out the Netherlands Open Air Museum! After enjoying a traditional Dutch meal, we'll continue our journey by train into Germany, where I suddenly find myself hiking up a steep hill in the dark, hauling my luggage on my back, to reach my accommodation - a medieval 13th century hilltop castle. This is an adventure you don't want to miss!

You seem like a really wholesome dude. Fun to see you visit my home town of Arnhem.

Nice to see you have such a great time! And good job figuring everything out yourself. For me at least, train travel is so much more enjoyable than planes or cars. It has a certain romantic quality to it, especially with all these grand european historic railway terminals. You really get that sense of traveling.

Suikerwafels are great :D My favourite driving snack, I get them at the gas station. I have to wonder though, what American chocolate milk tastes like! Chocomel is definitely considered the benchmark for chocolate milk here. I guess maybe it's not as sweet and a little more sour than you're used to?

The waffles were so good😋 Chocolate milk in America is usually made with 2% or whole milk, mixed with Hersheys Chocolate Syrup or powder. You can find pre-made chocolate milk but it's heavy on the chocolate in my opinion, but kids like it. I didn't like the chocomel drink lol

Hi Jack, I think you came a bit ill prepared without a decent coat for these temperatures when you're outside all day long.

It was really cold and I don't remember how many layers I was wearing that day, but I brought on the trip 2 pairs of thermals, a light jacket, and 2 winter coats. So even though it was cold out, I could wear 6 or 7 layers and it helped keep me warm 👍

Best recipe for Dutch pancakes: Make a batter with 500 ml of milk, 2 eggs, pinch of salt and slowly mix in 250 grams of flower. Id let it rest for a short while. I prefer the absolute classic, sweet and savory at once with bacon and sirop. Get a large frying pan, melt a lump of butter, put in one or two slices of bacon and then add the batter. Id say one decent size ladle of batter is enough. Panfry on medium high untill one side is nice and brown and then flip it. Make sure you cook it long enough because the flower needs to be fully cooked, probably at least 3 minutes per side. Now for the pro tip: Plate it, add sirop , maple sirop will do fine, and then roll the whole thing up and enjoy! For me the savory and sweet contrast really makes it. If you just want savory, replace the sirop by some slices of Gouda cheese, dont really have to cook it, just put it on long enough for it to melt.

I also stayed in The Little Duke in s'Hertogenbosch....didn't like it either for the price they charge as well.....on the other side of the road is a hotel Julien with staff and better rooms for a little more....
Love your vlogs Jack....keep it up ;)

I guess you're paying for the location - just a little communication would have been great. Thanks for watching!

Did you shake the Chocomel before drinking it? The good stuff tends to sink to the bottom, and it becomes a bit watery at the top. Definitely doesn't taste as good as it would when properly shaken. It's actually normally a pretty high quality chocolate milk.

I think the "no luggate" sign means that luggage shouldn't be left in the isle but instead be placed into the overhead storage space. Not sure though, been a while since I travelled on a German train. Great vlogs though, thanks for sharing!

I realized that later, but the signage wasn't clear lol.

'Going Dutch' splitting the bill is indeed usual in The Netherlands.
