A Little Life is written so beautifully that even if you don't like or don't care for the story, you still love the book because the writing is so good. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as Hanya Yanagihara enjoyed writing it, have a beautiful & delightful day! ✨💜📚 I have a very random YA romance recommendation for you. If you like Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter & ANYTHING by Jenny Han, can I please suggest Always Never Yours by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka?
I HATE read A Little Life. In all honesty it ended up just being torture porn by the end of that insanely long book. Very readable and I certainly cried. It made me feel like I was reading about a puppy that you wanted to cuddle that just kept getting kicked right in front of you. To each their own, I never hate on someone who loves that book. Just saying I HATED it by the end. I look forward to your thoughts on it
The Cruel Prince was an unexpected favorite of mine! The whole trilogy was great. Saying this as someone who went into it really hoping they’d like it, but had also seen a lot of the mixed/negative reviews! I’d almost describe it as a political series with romance. Slow burn, true enemies to lovers, and entertaining plot. As a YA book, the writing was a bit too idk… literal? at times, but I am a 20 something year old reading a YA novel. I do believe the author did a great job at exploring complex themes, characters, and relationships while still catering to a younger audience.
A little life is beautifully written with wonderful characters, but it truly is just trauma p0rn at the end of the day. I DNF’d at what i assumed had to be the happiest point so i could pretend the characters had a mostly happy ending because i just couldn’t continue frankly.
Just a heads up: Haunting Adeline also includes a full on literal blood libel scene that the author claimed to have fixed (she in fact did not). I didn’t know about it going in nor was I prepared for the Q-anon vibes of how human trafficking is portrayed in this book. Just letting you know because if I’d known I wouldn’t have wasted my time on it.
girlllll fourth wing was BAD and the second one was worse !!!!! there were some fun parts, but for the most part it was boring, the writing was bad, the author used the same trope over and over, and i could see the plot twists coming from a mile away. dont read it girl, save your time

@ i wouldn’t blame you! If you’re someone who enjoys emotional books/books evoking emotions it’s worth a shot!
