But that's part of the theme of the show, and of apocalypse situations in general. One of the recurring themes in the storyline is of struggling to maintain hope for a better future when any attempts at such keep getting knocked down. Despite the zombie apocalypse being completely fictional that theme is very relatable to a lot of people's lives, especially those suffering from chronic depression.

Rick Grimes was about to died at some point in the show. For TV. show's Critics like me "The Walking Dead" die the day they kill Rick Grimes only bloodline Son Carl Grimes the second most important character in "TWD" series if You really know what happens in the comics past present and future stories then You know that killing Carl off for ratings Value because the show is being plagued by low ratings for long now and they needed a big death character in the show to impact the fans, and because they refuse to pay the actor Chandler Riggs+Carl Grimes to save money for actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan to keep his (Negan) character in the show for two years more, was basically killing the show future hope because Carl Grimes suppose to be the last survivor in this injected apocalyptic world as Rick's only child because Rick is not little Judith's biological father was Shane and Carl Grimes best storylines to Henry or Judith Who is no a part of the Grimes family because like i say before Rick is not little Judith's biological father was Shane, is an insult to the show is an insult to the fans and is an insult to Chandler Riggs+Carl Grimes as an actor who gives his entire childhood to AMC and TWD show :-) Denise C. Andrew Lincoln and Chandler Riggs Confirm this news in separate interviews in this past months. they say TWD" show is ending soon, the show have few seasons left only but an AMC insider say for entertainment weekly report that they losing money fan's and ratings and for that reason they can end this show before season 11. if the show is lucky enough at last then the show can jump to the HBO channels but still difficult because the show is being plagued by low ratings for long now. and because former Walking Dead fan's already lost their interest in the show. but also because "TWD" is no longer the #1,TV show in ratings on Sunday's nights anymore since season 6. and when a show lose that much is almost impossible bring all that back again specially because the show is old now. He had the lamest death too being off screen. Sure you got to see Andy act as incredible as he can with Rick in the dumps. But, where can you go from here. Like everyone else says...Rick’s bloodline is gone. Then Andy left shortly next season. I heard many different reports that Gimple and Andy were working on a way to have Rick leave the show, but I am almost certain that the final nail in the coffin for Andy deciding wholeheartedly to leave is due to Carl’s unpopular death.
I recall an interview excerpt with Lincoln basically saying he was searching for a reason for his character to keep going and what it means to Rick. Knowing how Andy really gets into his role, basically method acting, it’s no wonder he felt no connection anymore and would have rather been with his real family!!

In TWD comic, each story arc feels like it could be the end of the overall story, when it isn't, we are quickly introduced to a brand new interesting situation so it feels fresh.

    • @jadduck
      @jadduck 5 років тому +17

The end game was *supposed* to be to find a sanctuary where they are safe from walkers, but that completely became irrelevant when walkers no longer posed a threat. That's the problem, they literally destroyed the entire show by focussing too much on other people and the rivalry and tension between groups of survivors as opposed to the actual zombies. They can't even go back because the way viewers view the show and TWD story has completely shifted. There were so many nail-biting scenes in seasons 1-3 where we genuinely got uncomfortable watching characters battle walkers, whereas now we just shrug it off because every outcome is the same. The main characters never succumb to zombies, and even when they do they, for some reason, decide to do it off-scene as to almost purposely reinforce that negative association we have.
AMC TWD literally just suffers from poor decisions and even poorer show-writing. People like Gimple should never be allowed anywhere near such a large-scale production such as TWD.

Killing Carl to save money was just their excuse; I’d bet my teeth that they REALLY don’t want to touch that story because it makes radical Feminism look bad.
Their leader is a woman who talks like a Feminist Professor, spouting the usual crap about how men are “all rapists” just barely restrained by civilization, and so while she is in charge, she thinks she can only control them by letting them screw whoever they want, including her daughter, and THEN Carl proves to her that Chivalry, even in this world, CAN be real, and the realization that her whole world view was a lie is apparently destroying her, to the point that she’s about to lead her people to their deaths, or so I am guessing from where I left off.

For me, TWD died when I realized the show was never going to answer any real questions like "how did this start?" and "how will things be fixed?"
Once I realized the show was essentially a drama about humans living in a world with zombies and not humans trying to strive for something other than finding a place to live, I was pretty much over it.
Them taking Eugene to Washington got me really excited because, finally, there was greater goal but once that fell apart and things went back to "find settlement, fight enemy", I lost hope. I didn't even realize Rick's last episode was his last episode until that season's finale and that's what really did it for me.

It’s hard to explain, but there actually was a way of beating the apocalypse. It wasn’t through some magical cure. It was through outlasting and starving the zombies. No matter what, the world would eventually reach a point where the zombies would starve and grow far too weak and decayed. After that, society would slowly start to reform. Idk why you got so hooked to that ‘Eugene-to-Washington’ point in the story. Eventually after Negan and Beta/Alpha Rick and the others would find peace. Rick ultimately passing away and Carl telling stories of the adventures to his daughter- *atleast was what* would’ve been the plotline had Carl not been stupidly killed off.

Carl was the definitely the first domino to fall. It essentially destroyed Rick as an engaging character. Their dynamic together was the heart of the show. Everything went down hill from there.. Rick became boring and Andrew Lincoln has hinted that he no longer enjoyed playing the character as much. We lost characters like Maggie and Jesus because they knew the show had peaked. And with Rick gone all together (future movies aside) it’s hard to care about the show at all. Who are we even following now that Michonne is leaving? Carol and Daryl? They’re cool. Where the characters are multifaceted and lovable. Where there are intense, heartbreaking, and often devastating things. And Darabont's signature style made this show so beautiful and heartbreaking. This was a show tailormade for him. He was perfect for this kind of show.

You're wrong about Season 2. Season 2 was actually one of the show's best. It gave us a chance to focus on the SURVIVORS for a while w/out the thread of other humans. The zombies were still very dangerous at this time, & Rick's group looked & felt more like a family, even beyond Lori & Carl. I miss the vibe that the show had back then. I think Season 4 was really the beginning of the "end" for the original vibe of TWD.
Also, Scott Gimple ran the show into the ground between seasons 7 -8. Negan held the show hostage for two seasons & was the most overhyped character this show has ever introduced. He never really paid for what the damage he caused, & I think it's ridiculous that viewers are now expected to somehow empathize with or root for this particular character. "Major character death" is just an attempt to grab ratings now, & the TWD franchise is bloated w/ a prequel that has lost it's way ever since the Clark family (save Alicia) was killed off, & "World Beyond", which has been boring af, even w/ the arrival of Jadis. Now that the comic itself has concluded, its definitely time for the main show to wrap it up.

Just the same BS over and over again. It is like as soon as the show progresses in a new direction it then ends up just going in circles.
Of note, Glenn's death did not bother me. I knew he was going to because of what people told me about the comics. Fuck Glenn, tiresome character always on the same bit that was far too similar to other characters. Plus it stayed true to the comics by killing Glenn. The only disappointing bit about killing Glenn was that Negan's jokes about it were not politically correct enough for the show so were omitted. Abraham was a far better character which they squandered and also gave dead end story arcs and plots to. I guess since they already killed Denise on the show as replacement to Abraham's death in the comics, something had to be done. The actor probably cost significantly more than other cast members as well.

Franchises that have the whole "characters can die at any moment" gimmick ruin themselves if they don't fully commit. People watch to see which character dies next, and they lose interest if characters keep surviving against mounting odds. The real bullet to the foot is if a death gets faked out. The writers are saying that they can bring characters back from death if they wanted and any stakes that have been built up are instantly thrown out.

So true, Glenn dying in the comics made sense because it’s what progressed Maggie’s character from suicidal coward to someone who has to step up to protect her kids and friends, pushing her to become leader of hilltop. The maggie in the show I love much more because she was a badass from the beginning, but that makes the story suffer because she never grew as a person and made Glenn’s death pointless because even if they kept Glenn alive, I could still see her becoming leader of the hilltop. Whereas in the comics if Glenn didn’t die, I could never see Maggie being the leader.

They need to find a safe haven to do that, but in that world there is always threats. Dee Brown some scenes really transitioned well in the show from the comic.
      Examples?
Bicycle walker girl (with some neat sympathy from rick...kinda forced compared to the silent year filled reaction to his first walker kill in the comic but I’m willing to look past that because I enjoyed the moment and it fit ricks character, like what he did with the walker he gutted by checking his I.D and saying he will remember that person)
Ricks “they find out speech” about the hunters to the group. Only difference is that they aren’t in a church and they are prisoners. Still badass.
Ricks speech to Nicholas about taking back the community. When I heard Andrew Lincoln saying the names of the characters I swear to god my balls dropped.
Now for moments that *SHOULD HAVE* transitioned well.
Negans first appearance. It had some good stuff but way too much deaths. It was stupid and forced to kill both Glenn and Abraham in such a dumb way. I don’t care how hot headed Daryl is, he knew what would happen if he attacked negan. For fucks sake keeping Abraham alive could’ve been an interesting advantage given his military experience

Glenn's death was so brutal and so graphic but his death was in the comics but no Carl's death Carl death was for shock ratings Value because the show is being plagued by low ratings for long now and they needed a big death character in TWD someone near Rick Grimes character to impact the fans but Carl's death was a huge big mistake because Carl Grimes was the world future hope. if You really know what happens in the comics then You know that Killing Carl off was basically Killing the show future because Carl Grimes play an extremely important role in the comics past present and future stories and now his death change drastically everything in the show story forever but no for good. Ps. actor Andrew Lincoln departure from TWD series has a lot to do with the stupid decision to kill Carl more than anything else :-) Denise C. Gordon a TV. BlueBerryNinja11/ Everybody knows already that Chandler Riggs never wanted to leave the show, Chandler Riggs already say in public for an Access stars interview that it was their decision to kill Carl and no his decision to leave the show, he say in that interview and is UA-cam You can see and hear what Chandler Riggs say about all that, Chandler Riggs say that he give up collage plan's and other things to do for later to move near the new "Walking Dead"installments set's to start his Carl Grimes best storylines ever and he was so exciting about it because his contract in the show was for 3, years more, when in the mid-season 7, and without say anything to Chandler Riggs and his family at first they change the original storylines for the mid-season 7, and season 8, to kill Carl Grimes, Chandler Riggs character, Chandler Riggs say in that interview that it was a very sad surprise for him because his contract in the show was like i say before was for 3, years more because they say they need Chandler Riggs for 3, years more in the show. Chandler Riggs,( cham's) father William Riggs think that they fired his son two weeks before his 18, birthday because they supposed to pay his son more money as an adult actor after his 18, birthday and Chandler Riggs father was so pissed off about it and he was post in his Facebook page the real stupid two reasons they have for fired his Son Chandler Riggs from "TWD" show two weeks before his 18, birthday because he wanted a little more money for his son after his 18, birthday because the show is decline AMC is losing money with this show that is no longer the #1 tv show in ratings in sunday's nights when new seasons start and they needed to save some money for actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan to keep his ! Negan) character in TWD for two years more but they also wanted to kill someone near Rick Grimes character to impact the impact the fans. for ratings shock value they needed a big death character like Carl Grimes because the show is being plagued by low ratings for long. long now. but Carl's death was death was the AMC biggest mistake ever because the show lose millions of fans no only here in United states were the show lose more than 17, millions of fans and lose more than 20, millions of fans around the world were this show was the fans favorite tv series. Something like that was happens with Emily Kenney (Beth) they fired the her in season 5. after the actress asked for a little .more money just few weeks before her 18, birthday.s sane thing was happen with Chandler Riggs they fired him two weeks before his 18, birthday. So You wrong buddy it was not Chandler Riggs decision to leave the show it was their decision to kill his Carl Grimes character in season 8. the show worst lowest ratings season ever until now because season 9, is the show worst season so far. new rumours say that AMC is seriously considering to end "TWD" show soon in 2020 because the show low ratings and because the show is losing a lot of fans in every season since mid-season 5. but more because AMC is losing money with this show. actors Andrew Lincoln and Chandler Riggs confirm this news a year ago in separate interviews, they say "TWD" show is ending soon the show only have few seasons left but after the show this past low ratings season's i think that end us so near now :-) Denise C. Skipping season 4 would have been nice. The artsy episodes with lots of dialogue and almost no action were not enjoyable. They were supposed to be character-driven, but the characters weren't driven to do much but flap their gums. The entire purpose of a video production is so the writers can show, rather than tell. Don't tell us who the characters are; show us. I think the writers don't trust the audience to make the right conclusions, so they bog down the show with talk, talk, talk, talk.
