In today's climate, I want someone to yell at the High Evolutionary "Dude. You just awakened as a furry in the 1920's and didn't know how to handle it. There are plenty of outlets to help you 'enjoy the next step in evolution' all you want!"
I have to say. Marvel is pretty lucky with all these people from before the 1950s aren't sexist or racist. I mean could you imagine how disturbing a racist High Evolutionary could be.
I remember reading Peter David’s Hulk run and in the middle of some arc Beast just shows up and is like ‘come on Hulk the Avengers need us for the EVOLUTIONARY WAR’ and then you flip to the next issue and it’s Hulk going ‘that was dumb’ and left me wondering what the hell that was
You should watch Guardians Vol. 3 then, because apparently High Evolutionary is legitimately really well-adapted as the villain there. Just an absolutely vile bastard.
@@Tamaki742 pitch meeting made a joke about that. A really good one. I think I would prefer him as the next big bad then kang. Though kang wasn't terrible but I'd prefer him.
The High Evolutionary is a character I keep seeing throughout comics and everytime he appears I get more interested in the stories he's in. In summary, you have my interest!
@@Freefall347 Have you seen Guardians Vol. 3 yet? He's the main villain in that movie, and from what I've heard, he's really well-done and a legitimately intimidating/hateable villain.
I have all these annuals and have read them, I've always liked the high evolutionary, his 60s and 70s stories are pretty interesting, he also gave Warlock the soul gem
Thank goodness Sal continues to talk about stories I'm probably NEVER reading. Y'all manage to make anything far more entertaining than it actually is. I love it!
Btw, High Evolutionary has 1 appearance in a GotG adjacent book(outside of him being part of Adam Warlock’s past): Annihilation’s sequel, Conquest, where the GotG are formed by the Kree as a black ops group fighting back against the big bad. He got hired to try remaking the Kree iirc
The High Evolutionary isn't just a super-genius in power armor. Wyndham experimented on himself, causing him to develop powers on par with other heavy hitters of the MU.
So glad you are covering this book. I remember reading about it back in the day, through What If? Vol 2. #1 where the Avengers lost the Evolutionary War. However, I have never read it.
YEESSSSSSSS!!!! I’ve had every issue of Evolutionary War for about a year now and I’ve been dreading having to read it all. Now I can just absorb the story from you guys and just put it on the “read” shelf with a clear(ish) conscience
I'm going to be one of those annoying nerds that Sal hates and point out that High Evolutionary evolved himself into a God-like entity. Hence, his uber-powerful armor.
I have always loved the High Evolutionary. I saw him on the first x-men comic i got [extinction agenda]. i love his design, and i always smile when he shows up 😅 its always at some random event or what not, he was great in the movie too.
Sal showing off that trading card in the beginning reminded me of how I learned about all these "Seminal" events due to my older brothers card collection. It seemed like it was a big deal because it had it's own trading card!
Love this episode! The deep dive of some forgotten Marvel characters! I had a Slug marvel card in the 90s, idk why it existed in my deck 😂 but I was 9.
I know I’m not alone when I say I’m excited for gotg3 but I’m really interested in what Gunn does with the villain because he seemed really badass in the trailer
The High Evolutionary Motivation He doesn't want to make things perfect. He just hate things the way they are. No truer words could describe this mad man.
The thing about the moloid evolving is very similar to what they discussed somewhat recently in xmen with cyclops wanting to eliminate all of the Brood even though there's 1 that can speak and doesn't just automatically murder everything it sees
Thabk you for reaffirming why ive avoided anything with the high evolutionary. The villian equivlant of a mary sue with the creative impack of animorphs.
I know you're never ever gonna do this book on B.I. but I feel like I would at least attempt to ask for it. Rick and Morty vs. Dungeons & Dragons was a book I picked up last year not really expecting anything from it. But it turns out it's fantastic and fun. It's kind of weird and out there. But if I'm being honest it's one of the best 3 stories from R&M that I've seen in a long while. At the very least I recommend reading it lol

a new back issues episode makes my day better. but this... welp... this is something to behold. LOL also, let's get this video up to 200k views! #BackIssues #ComicPOP (also, please clap for Sal. Because he's awesome!) 👏👏👏👏👏
Hi sal and the gang great episode today and I don’t want to sound like a needy SOB LOL but can we get some ultimate Spider-Man in here. Thanks for all you do and god bless you all
I always hated annuals. I always thought they should almost run like wrestling where the comics monthly issues are set up like Wrestling’s T.V. weekly shows and culminate with the annuals like the wrestling P.P.V . As opposed to the annuals being USUALLY unrelated garbage. However using the annuals as the character tie in to a big over all series is better than loosely tie-ing it in to the characters monthly book.
