I have three daughters, too. 5, 4, and 1. And I totally know the feeling of getting home after a long hunt, and sharing those stories and the complete love that overwhelms you. Congrats on a beautiful family, and a pretty great bull.
Thank you, sir. They are my greatest accomplishment in life. Thanks for watching!
@@MuleyFreak I love your stuff; it’s always so well put together! And if you wanna see my little ones trampin around the woods, check out the muskrat / beaver trapping stuff on my channel!
Dude, that scene where you go home and your adorable daughters are excited about the antlers is the best. Love seeing stuff like that👍🏻
Thanks Landon! Erik loves those little girls of his!!!
When you have been putting in for the same tag for 20 years and still waiting... this is super inspirational!
Don't ever give up! Stick with it!
Good luck!

Perfect timing, I drew a Colorado shiras bull moose tag this year. 4 more weeks!
No way! You lucky dog. Good for you!!!
Will definitely have to incorporate some of the calls this year you and Payton were doing. Also chuckled pretty hard “with the fresh 200 dollars in my pocket”! Congrats on the moose Erik! Great team effort!
LOL. Yeah, we're pretty novice moose hunters when it comes to calling. Thanks for watching, Danny.
Ha ha. We all need to go to a moose calling seminar.
Great hunt! Glad you stretched it out and enjoyed a long, intense once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thanks for having us along!
There's nothing like grinding it out on a once in a lifetime type of hunt. Thanks for watching, S!

Great hunt, and what a great family you have dude!
Thank you, sir. Very blessed indeed.
Thanks for watching!!
Awesome video and I am very impressed being a guide myself at how a group of guys could walk away from so many choices of bulls, many guys making a film like this would have taken one of the other easier bulls and edited their video in a way that made it look like one of the smaller bulls was just the right bull they were looking for!,lol, You guys had a mindset and stuck to it! Great stuff!
Man awesome bull man congrats and I can’t believe all the sheds you guys found I know it’s Utah but what unit
Thanks for watching, Russell.

Awesome hunt. For a epic bull.

I may have said it before but I think it’s funny how you always see what you’re not looking for. On a moose hunt you see a ton of deer and elk but come the elk tag it’s a mission to try to find them 😂
Man oh man. Isn't this just the downright truth! Crazy how this happens!
It's funny how that works out sometimes!
Helluva bull Erik!! Congrats bud!!

Great hunt! It still amazes me that animals that big love to live in the thickest shit around
It's crazy how well these big animals can hide!
I wanna get into this kinda hunting, moose or deer. Now, I can't digest meat due to a stomach condition I was born with.. But I'd gladly donate the meat to someone who needs it and I'd probably end up using the antlers for knife handles as I'm a blacksmith. Stunning moose my man, what a stud he is.
Sorry to learn your condition. Thanks for watching Erik's shiras moose adventure! It was an epic one!
Staying down wind when hunting always works for me. I've hunted for elk moose and sheep in my state. One thing I know about moose and elk they like bedding down during the day and get moving before evening. Evenings have always been good for me. I shot my first bull moose with a 257 Robert's. One shot through the heart. Moose don't go down easily. If you have snow use it to your advantage when packing out meat. We use a snow toboggan. One thing I was wondering don't you guys gut out the animal first? It really helps cool the meat down faster. Nice bull by the way. I live right by some of the best hunting area in Wyoming. Been hunting for 41 years. Elk hunting is my favorite hunt.
'with the first $200 in my pocket '😂
Awesome hunt! I'm sitting on 12 moose points in Utah, so hoping to draw sometime before I die. Ha
Haha. Sad to say, but you might be in for the long haul
Keep applying, brother!

Incredible film man, congrats on the bull! What unit was this?
Thanks for watching, Stantson. I hope you're well.
I know I'm late to the comments here, new subscriber. I'm wondering how that 225 eldm performed. Obviously put him toes up, just curious how that bullet acted. I'll be moose hunting this fall and I've got a pet load in my 300 rum with the 225 eldm that I'm considering using. Any idea what impact velocity was? Hit any big bones? Any info would be appreciated. I've killed a bunch of deer and elk with the eldm in various calibers, just nothing as tough and heavy as moose. Love the content by the way, keep it coming.
7 points towards my Montana moose and probably 20+ to go. Here’s hoping!
They are not easy to draw!
Good job on your moose
Thank you, sir. 🙏
Thanks for watching!
First congrats on the moose.
And I feel you on how a big bodied animal can act like you are not even hitting them, in how they respond to the shot.
My 1400+ lb Buffalo, just stood there like I was slinging a spit wad and not a bonded 30 cal. Bullet lol.
Same result though. A moment that seemed longer than I am sure it was . Stumbled and down they go.
Cheers and happy hunting this season
*_These bigger ungulates are able to soak up a lot of lead. Thanks for sharing your experience!_*
wicked hunt. Now I understand when Alaskans think my BC northwestern moose are small cause that big Shiras is cute haha.
That last scene is what really made this video. I had to stop it 2 times so I could go pee while watching it, I like these longer 2 pee videos! And everyone acting all shy like they don't eat the booty. Easiest way to get $200 in your pocket that I can think of! 🤔
😂😂
LOL. It was a grind. Thanks for watching, Marcus!
What isn't to like about a moose hunt. That thing is a stud. Was this Utah or Idaho? You can message me privately. Once again patience pays off. How do you like moose meat? It definitely tastes different than any other game I've had. Still delicious. Great job guys!
Thanks, buddy!
It was Utah
I’ve got 25 points and been shooting my 65# recurve staying ready when if finally draw, great bull
Good luck, Jeff!
Freakin stud OIL shiras, congrats!
Thanks, buddy. He's an absolute tank of a Shiras.
Thanks for watching, buddy!
Can you please provide some measurements from this bull? I drew my once in a lifetime Colorado tag and am researching and preparing. I know score isn't everything, but I want to hunt hard and look over a lot of bulls. I'll pass some up for the right bull worthy of the tag. My guesses: 46" wide, 33"L x 9"W paddles, maybe 18 points, and 6.5 bases = 161 gross?
51” wide.
I wonder what year this was, and what unit. My father-in-law had a Wasatch tag last year. We had the hardest time finding any Moose. The tree's had kept all their leaves til the end of the hunt. We saw a few small bulls, but the big bulls just weren't there. So it's crazy you guys are seeing so many bulls, and how decent they are.
Bummer to hear! Did you guys end of killing a moose?
@@MuleyFreak Yeah. He was able to harvest a decent Moose. A lot bigger than anything we had seen.
Seems like a good thing Aaron was there to spot everything haha. Congrats on getting a sweet moose!
LOL. Erik's the one who sent Aaron over there to look! LOL. He will feel good about your comment though. He reminds Erik daily.
LOL. He likes to remind me! Believe me!

With you being Ogden boys..what are your thoughts on the cinnamon creek block of state ground being sold after this year?
I’m pretty bummed about it myself as I have lots of hunting/camping/outdoor memories up there ever since I was a little kid.
Not sure I know about that!?

What caliber of a rifle were you using
.300 Norma, we have a video with the whole build on our channel!
I haven't yet found a good recipe for antlers. 😉

Travis at TS Custom Rifles builds all our rifles, be sure to check them out! We also have a video going over Erik's .300 Norma Build!
Why shoot match grade bullets I’m guessing they all exploded on impact?
They're actually a pretty solid hunting bullet. They don't have as thick of a jacket and interlock ring, but they held together great. No explosions lol
Great moose what was the width?
Just over 50"
