Nice bucks guys! Tylers has some cool character.
Thnx, man! It sure does!
Great hunt shoot what make you happy it’s your hunt and your adventure
Amen, brother! Appreciate you!
Absolutely! I was happy to shoot the biggest buck we saw on the trip
Great video guys. Thanks for filming your hunt and sharing it.
Thanks for watching it!
Great video. That’s a good representation of what a good hunt is. Not 30” bucks under every tree!
Exactly! Thanks for watching, buddy!!!
They are out there though which pushes us to keep looking!
A couple of great buck’s congratulations guy’s awesome video!
Appreciate it Collin!
Collin…have you joined our Private community yet? facebook.com/groups/muleyfreak/?ref=share_group_link
@@MuleyFreak I would if I had facebook. I only have UA-cam when it comes to social media.
Really great hunt gang! Loved that it wasn’t private ranch deer and how fun it was to harvest some deer that were special for you.
Appreciate the feedback! Thanks for watching!
Epic 👍👍
Nice shooting fellas
Thanks for watching, Anthony!
‘Mature buck. Mature buck.” I’m sorry but that 3 point that pushed that buck off was probably twice as old. I understand wanting to push yourself to do your best in finding the biggest/oldest deer. But in a video platform you can’t keep saying you just want to find that one mature buck and turn your nose up because his rack isn’t as big. You even said “older deer but must have not very good genetics”. Understandable. But call it what it is. You ended up saying “biggest deer we’ve seen”. Which wasn’t the case. That mature buck was probably 30% bigger body and probably almost twice the age. Very let down by this video in contrast to overall content. I feel it makes us as hunters look bad. Sorry guys.
Yeah I definitely wanted to find a mature buck with a big rack but just never found one. I did shoot the biggest buck I saw which was potentially younger than the buck that was running him around. Not trying to make it seem like something it’s not. Meat is delicious though 👍🏼
🫥
The way I see it they paid for their tags it was fair chase so what does it matter? Did you buy their tags? Pay for their fuel? Or carry them on your back up the mountain? Nope it’s guys like you who make hunters not only look bad but dumb by causing tension amongst our selves… don’t like it don’t watch simple as that! Or here’s another idea start videoing your hunts and promote what you think is best! 😁 oh yeah it’s easier to pick apart someone else’s videos 😂
This hunt is almost as epic as that mustache.
Best mustache I’ve ever seen!
😂😂😂
You guys Rock!!! GreatJob
Really enjoyed the hunt 😊.
Did you run liners in the Tipi.
Thanks, Dave. Not sure on that. Tyler will have to weigh in on that.
Glad you liked it! No we didn’t run liners. I have never tried the liners to see how much it helps with the condensation. I’d be interested to see how much it helps
Hell yeah! Nice shooting, way to get it done!
Thank you! Our bullets did what they were supposed to!
What hunting pants are you wearing? Are those zipper side vents?
Not sure. Tyler can answer this! ;)
@@MuleyFreak I too would love to know what pants you're using
I was wearing Kryptek Takur rain pants. Love the full length side zip as it makes it easy to take on and off or unzip partially for ventilation. Under those I had puffy pants and Tora pants with a merino base.
Oh yeah if you stay more than a week and are burning pinon or cedar which builds soot do not I repeat do not smack your stovepipe unless your fire is stone cold embarrassing but true I did this living in a tent and the heat from the fire carried up a thousand pieces of flaming soot which in turn rained down like liquid fire and it took an hour and a roll of duct tape to fix all the pinholes in my tent!
Good pointer. We definitely got a few ember holes but nothing as bad as yours thankfully.
Too bad there aren’t big bucks in places like that any more.
They seem to be fewer and father between!
Mustache mules. Go big or go home. Not bad bucks either.
Ha ha! For sure! Thanks for watching!
What happened with you is the one reason why I do not try to video my hunts, because you spend too much time playing with cameras and other crap and then you miss the good shot! Plus I don't need to share my experiences of hunting with the world, I share it with the people that mean the most to me! 👍👍👍👍👍
Curious where you hunt?
@@MuleyFreak back country of Montana
Well obviously all of us muley freak followers mean the most to these boys. I'm freakin grateful as hell they film there hunts. How can you say that yet still watch the video lol
That’s why you aren’t on this video
Why ain't yall wearing blaze orange? I don't hunt without it for safety. You're liable to get killed. Ain't no point in whispering after he's dead either.
Likely hood of seeing another hunter in this country is slim to none and it’s not required by law in this area.
Great video. Could feel the cold from home, but that back strap was great!!
It was frigid! Nothing beats fresh meat on the mountain!
Great video, just subscribed, can you tell me your rifle and scope setup? Looking to build something similar.THANKS
TS Custom 7mm Rem Mag, Leupold Mark 5 scope!
congratulations nice bucks
Real life hunting there ,finished my first montana hunt in November brought a 152" muley home and now it's in my blood. Lion hunt in December and back for antelope and muleys next October,,can't wait.
Heck yeah man! Nothing better than muley hunting!
Awesome camp and hunt. I enjoyed the video.
Thank you! That stove was a life saver on this hunt.
Man,, that looked like a fun hunt! COLD, but fun. 😁 Bet that hot tent was more than inviting after a long day on the mountain! I gotta get me one of those! Nice job fellas!
You can’t beat a hot tent on a cold late season hunt like that! Comforting know you you can dry gear out at night. Also nice to use the stove to melt snow for water.
Knee deep snow? That’s not “truckin” that’s slogging… wow! Hell of a shot! Fun to watch. Thanks
I think you are at my friends outfitters camp and I think that is their green outhouse tent in the background
Hey what was the puffy camo jacket that Steven was wearing? Nice bucks, heavy packs, great hunt! I really enjoyed the video.
Thanks man! He was wearing the first lite chamberlain puffy.
I was never cold! 😂
Hunting at its finest !!! good job guys 👍
The fun's over when they hit the ground 😊
He's not huge but that's good meat in the freezer 👍🏻
I'm convinced if you fellers didn't have them big mustache's you would have all froze to death.
Me too! 😂😂😂
I've seen shot deer jump into a tree or just sit down but I've never seen one drop stiff legged like that so my question is where was the bullet impact on this buck talk about a knockdown shot!
That first shot was right through the neck. Severing the spinal cord.
Great video dudes
👍👍
Awesome video! Loved it!!!
Great video. I like that it was a hunting video not a music video. Do the deer over there usually migrate or just stay at snow line.
Great hunt. "Heavy packs" is right....nothing better.
It’s the best!
This was a fun hunt to watch. The good vibes really came through and got me stoked for the november snow
Thanks for watching!
Awesome hunt! Enjoyed your vid. ✊️
Thnx for watching!
New sub ☑ I'm enjoying your vids.
Any plans for cooking vids, to show how to safely enjoy or preserve meat? I understand bear and elk can be home to strong parasites.
Glad you're enjoying the videos! We should do more on bear, we've covered it in some hunt films, but with bear you always want to cook to at least 160 degrees to prevent trichinosis. You you watch are Bonsai Bears 2.0 video we cook it on the mountain and it's very tasty. With elk you can treat it like beef, cook it anyway you want and it's going to be good. Thanks for you comments and we'll definitely look into making some cooking videos!
Bear needs to be cooked such that the internal temp is at 165°, to eliminate chances of triganosis.
Those backcountry stashes stole the show
Ha ha. Thanks for watching!
Looks like Idaho?
🤷♂️
My Son and I will be trying our hand the last two weeks of Idaho’s deer season in Frank Church.
Good luck! Idaho backcountry is beautiful!
I really enjoyed your hunting video, !!
Thanks for watching!
I learned a long time ago while doing this same hunt, you better take the first legal one you see, especially if it’s BLM land-Public Land.
This must not be because they haven’t run across 50 other hunters.
If you can see him at 600,he’s dead.
Wow,in 3-4 years that area will hold some really good bucks.Y’all are right in their back yard!
What tent and stove set up is that?
It’s a seek outside redcliff light with the XL stove. Such a rad backpacking setup for late season hunts
What Ty said! ;)
I was wondering the same thing. Couldn't believe they hiked a wood burning stove up there lol
Crap. $1400 later 🤦♂️
Shit guys:
•talk about a dirt nap, for the first
Shot.
•wow what are you using?
•As in, gun, caliber, & bullet choice?
• & then you doubled it up. Nice job, boys.
300 win mag not sure what gun or bullet.
Second was a tscustoms build 7mag shooting factory hornady precision hunter 163 grain eldx. Thanks for watching!
Awesome shot. How far?
First one was about 400 and the second was just over 700.
@@tylerokamura3342 awesome shooting. We hardly ever take long shots like that here in northern ky. I could see it happening down in eastern where the strip mines are.
Thanks for watching, Matt.
@@MuleyFreak keep coming in with the videos. Thanks for replying, most of the guys who make their own content never reply to their fans. I’ll definitely be subscribing.
@@Thesac44yeah I always try to get as close as possible. There was no way to get closer on this one without being seen and conditions were perfect so I took the shot.
What cameras did you use?
Tyler mainly used his iPhone on this hunt but we mainly run, Sony A7IV and this season Sony FX3
The bonds that are built on a hunt will last a lifetime 🇺🇸 your weapons are amazing my friend! Thanks for sharing your hunt with us ✌🏼😎
Amen, Captain Awesome! Thanks for your support on the channel. 🔥
@@MuleyFreak You’re welcome 🇺🇸
That’s what it’s all about! Big adventures with good buds!
Is this a guided hunt?
No. DIY
So I am new to hunting and want to do it for the first time but I don’t want to wait so long for just a week of it so how do you guys hunt anytime of the year
There are a ton of opportunities around the country to hunt basically year round. That’s why we hunt more than just mule deer. We do some spring bear hunting, predator hunting and travel to hunt other states. Also hunting archery and rifle seasons will increase your hunting opportunity.
What a sexy mustache
We will be sure to let Tyler know!
What calibure where yall shooting?
300 win mag and 7mm mag
Did you seal the seams of your tent? Asking for a friend.
Nice work guys
😂😂
😂 lessons learned the hard way never get forgotten!
Remember to trim nose hairs before heading out this yr! Lol
Ha ha. Check!
Love yuor guy good good hunt ❤❤❤❤❤❤
👍👍
Cool hunt and Congrats on an old buck !
Thanks for watching!
what kinda of pack does he have?
Who's pack?
What camera do you guys use?
Cell phone lol
What rifle and ammo? Nice hunts!
7mm Hornady 163g eldx
Sorry I only answered half of your question. It’s a TS customs build, 7mm rem mag

Curious what was the temperature inside the tipi with the stove going?
Not sure, but a lot warmer than outside haha
@@MuleyFreak hahaha sold!
Nice work fellas!! The more miserable, the more memorable.

1:38 I have a pair of nose hair tweezers you can borrow.
THIS VIDEO IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE VIDEOS, SO FAR. FOR SURE MY FAVORITE FOR 2023. VERY COOL! GREAT JOB ALL THE WAY AROUND!!! AND CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR HUNT AND YHE WAY THIS VIDEO MOVED ALONG.
I appreciate that James! A lot of hard work went into this hunt. Glad you liked it!
Thanks for watching! 🙏

What a great hunt. Congratulations to both of you. What caliber is that rifle?
Awesome hunt! You guys ever use snow shoes on your hunts?
Thanks! I have tried them in the past but we were cutting as much weight as we could since we were backpacking. Snowshoes didn’t make the cut haha

You say "so" a lot.
Next time hit the pass button on the bucks until you see something worth shooting
Sappy sappy.
Hey guys this is mike A from Los angles CA. what city and state and what mountains are you in .
Want that coordinates too? Haha. Kidding.
Who uses a saw on twigs?
LOL
I was a guide for 30 plus years in Montana. On public, and private groud.
Never was legal to hunt without hunters orange
Probably isn't Montana then, you don't need to wear orange in Idaho
@MuleyFreak I didn't know that you didn't need to ware hunters orange in Idaho. Back country, I apologize.
Thanks for the information.
God speed
Are u fricking serious that was a young Buck, I can’t believe u would shoot something that small
I’m always out there to find the biggest mature buck I can but this one was also about filling the freezer. I’ll pass young bucks if I have a full freezer but I needed some meat. He’s one of the best tasting mule deer I’ve ever had 👌🏼
