In September, we spent two days outdoor bouldering in Rocky Mountain National Park with elite climbers Alex Puccio and Alex Waterhouse.
In the first of the series, we tackle outdoor bouldering problems ranging from V1 to V13, spending time with a wonderful group of locals who showed us all the best spots in the area, as well as offering their tips and advice for climbing outside - which might be especially useful for climbers who are transitioning from indoor climbing gyms to outdoor rock.
We used Kaya Pro as our guide for the day. Alex Puccio, Alex Waterhouse and Hannah Morris assembled a list of climbs that they hoped to project using the Kaya tick list feature, and shared a fun session working on the problems together.

Awesome! The sounds you made before you topped out 🙂... Brought a lot of fun memories. I have a video of me leading a route where I make the same series of sounds while realizing that I am completely pumped and cannot clip before the big fall... Also forgetting the climbing shoes. True classic. I drove out to the desert just to find out that I left my shoes at home (but brought all other equipment). Had to climb in my partner's shoes that I literarily had to put over my running shoes because his feet were so big. Lol!

Slow to the comment section on this one, but just thought I'd say that I'm so happy for you to be collaborating with such legends. RMNP is such a beautiful place. I got to climb there a few years ago (videos on my channel, *wink wink*) and when i saw the hiking path at the start of the video i immediately recognized it. I hopped on the potato chip boulder and climbed the same problem as you did at the start of the video. It definitely brought back a lot of nostalgia, I can only imagine the memories you made climbing there with Alex. Congrats on all your success!

@@hannahmorrisboulderingI’m so old I remember when the phrase caught on, very early 80s. Climbers at the Gunks were recording and sharing Sony Betamax tapes (a long gone competitor to VHS tapes) of climbs.
Sony did put the Greek letter β on the Betamax cartridges, so however you pronounce that is fine.
Technically, I think the Greeks pronounce it “veeta”, but they invented Ouzo, a demon spirit that caused me to once wake-up with no shoes and a revulsion to the taste of black licorice for the rest of my adult life - so nuts to them, “beetuh” away!
