They would do it now and then --- and it was usually around the Upper West Side area, since Reeves TeleTape Studios --- where the show used to be filmed --- was on 81st Street and Broadway. So that general area was often "cast" as the surrounding neighborhood.
I love how Northern started out as the excited one only to be the one who suggests that one more day goes by before the work is actually done. (smiles) God bless you always!!! Holly in east TN (a girl who will forever love him)
So two seasons earlier, Mr. Hooper celebrates his store's twenty-fifth anniversary, yet now he says the place is at least thirty-five years old. Oh, the inconsistency of Sesame Street.
I noticed that, too. 😄 My lame attempt to reconcile it is that he actually opened the store at that spot at least 35 years before, but under a different name. Like...I dunno....Hooper's Soda Fountain or Hooper's Canteen. THEN after a few years he changed the name to Hooper's Store and 25 years later that's what he considered to be the anniversary worth celebrating. Lame? You bet, but it's all I can come up with. 😆
Now, those were the good old days.
maaann! keep these David vids coming!!! cant get enough of them! RIP NORTHERN!!!!
I second that 150%. God bless you always! Holly in east TN (a girl who will forever love Northern)
There will never be another David!
I love David's tribute to Saturday Night Fever.
Oh my God that Stayin' Alive bit is AMAZING. It's soooo rare to see Sesame Street shot on the actual streets of New York City. I loved seeing that!

Good job, David! Way to take initiative.

Famous last words of David's. ...
I don't know what was in his coffee that morning, but whatever it was I could use some of that.
Hoopers store has always been painted yellow and black checks
