After Texas freeze ran into several LG refrigerators that were no longer cooling after power was restored. Even after several days. Compressor and all fans running. Reset board. Any ideas?
But can you do it with a 4 wire condenser fan motor? The answer is. No. Im fighting that battle now. The Pwm signal to the C-fan motor doesnt have enough umph to activate a solid state relay. And the + wire to the C-fan is always +12v... which means no “control” over the compressor. I wrote up a arduino code to use the pwm signal to activate the relay, but the Fridge motherboard didnt like the power consumption of the arduino... Round 3 im going to try a Pwm converter and separate power supply to see if that will work.

There us a friend who has a refrigerator just like that only lasted 2 yrs and compressor gone and if I could get a schematic of the wiring I would be able to repair it
Use a thermocouple to show us accurate temps. You showed 41f for fresh foods and 11f for freezer...way too high...41 and above is danger zone for pathogen (e coli, salmonella, listeria) growth and 0f is required for freezer long term storage. Spoilage bacteria grows above 0f and doubles its growth every 5 degrees above 0f. So at 11f, food in freezer will eventually spoil...it won't hurt you like pathogens but will taste horrible.

have a big question, doesnt the system detect that there is no linear compressor conected?
no, previous generation lg refrigerators, do not have any feedback from inverter

So I'm not sure..
Great video. Those linear compressors are terrible. Most of what I encounter is it’s not pumping. It’s running but refrigerant isn’t moving.
What are the colors on the two wires on PBC board for the condenser fans to the relay?
The solid Pink wire is positive and the the Gray wire with the Red strip is negative/common wire.
Bought my 1st LG REFRIDGERATOR 6.5 YEARS AGO, thought they were a good brand at the time. They have proven me wrong big time! First I had the local appliance repair co. come due the ICE MAKER not MAKING ICE. Fix $248 and change, no fix, compressor bad. Good news compressor is under a 10 yr. warranty but I have to pay labor(they got you again)$450 labor.Repair man here only 2 hrs and he is paid hourly and was LG'S MAN THEY SENT. At 25$/hr that's 50$ so where did the other $400 go? The fridge made about 1/2 bin full of ice then has went on the blink again. Called repair man and told him the news. He is supposed to come by when he is in this area again! What a deal is this. .........RAY W.
The really SAD story is this. Looking in several stores(Lowes. Home Depot. 3- Badcock stores (EASTPOINT, ST JOE, AND P CITY) and only 1 badcocks could get a fridge here as soon as 3 days but that was another LG for 3,000$ plus delivery and supposeably set-up (COST $139 DOLLARS). We were assured by the sales lady the men would set-up and move the older fridge out the kitchen door and 4 steps to where I was going to hook it to hot water tank inlet water line to make extra ice. Delivery men called thirty minutes ahead BUT SAID they did not move furnture or the old fridge, so then it was to call the sales lady and let her handle this problem. The men showed up and uncrated the new box, and came in they never said boo to us. They were very rude looks and did not talk, which was a good thing.because by then I was ready!
NEXT CHAPTER:
NEW FRIDGE IN PLACE AND MAKING ICE AGAIN; After 7 1/2 days going to buy ice twice a day to ice 4 four coolers and ice tea.
The new fridge ice maker stops and ice ran out on the 17th Opened up ice maker door and found the shipping tape and all the other factory stuff still in place. That and the fact wife noticed the handles on doors were upside down and on the wrong door the day after delivery, she calls badcocks owner(IT'S THE ONE ON TYNDALL PARKWAY). Guess what, the lady must think her customers are all fools, she tells my wife that no the delivery men are not to move old stuff out for new stuff to take its place. WELL HOW BOUT THAT, I'M 81 AND WIFE IS 77 AND SO GO FIGURE, how does she think we gonna move appliances out for hers to go in. I DON'T THINK SO! After Texas freeze ran into several LG refrigerators that were no longer cooling after power was restored. Even after several days. Compressor and all fans running. Reset board. Any ideas?
Get a technician or super lawyer
Could you refer any technician who can perform this conversion in Los Angeles area? I have an exact refrigerator here.
So did you cancel out the board or what was that part in the video that you were going to the board
He was using the fan power to control a relay, which then powered the compressor.
I know how to make that work
@@arappliances5979
I got it working. I used a $6 pwm input to voltage output convert, a 40amp SSR and some simple wiring to run a conventional embraco compressor in the fridge that uses a 4 wire pwm controlled condensor fan. So far it works like a charm.

It would have been nice if you could have shown which wires go to the condenser fan out of so many, could you just match the colors?
On this model the Two wires he is using are the White/Red Wire and the other is the Pink wire. If you look up the schematics on your fridge it will show on there.
@@1xicano ok jr in chickendale
There are 4 wires to the condenser motor. The pink and white/red wires are the only 2 that gives 12 Vdc. It is also noticeable that once power is applied to the control board, 12 volts is available, and the fan doesn't start until after the system has run through diagnostic checks and go to normal operating mode. 12 volts is always present as long as power is on. How do you control the cycling of the compressor when the set temperature is reached and what happens when the system is in defrost. Very anxious to this cause I'm trying to fix one of those same lg.
@@euphony62 the condenser fan will not run during defrost. And, really even if it did, no big deal the heat will go up and warm the coils, before warming the food,
@@bluuedaniel the challenge is that the compressor runs all the time with the power cord plugged in. It doesn't stop during defrost or when the temperature settings is satisfied, because those two condenser wires are always live 12VDC. Anyway I figured out how to use the defrost circuit to stop the compressor during the defrost cycle. I'm just not able to cycle the compressor when the temperature is satisfied.
What type of relay tho?

My compressor just went. LG said compressor was covered under warranty but not the labor or software update or anything else needed. Debating if I change out myself or have their techs replace compressor. Not sure what something like that would cost. Techs want $100 to come out and diagnose then give me an estimate.
the best of it LG is not even a shame of it juste like it is normal what a bad company
What is the horsepower of the compressor you are installing?
You need low a temp. approx. 900 btu compressor
I find it difficult to fathom what all that PCB complexity can possibly be for.
So when condenser fan motor is energized the compressor kicks in on that circuit. Ok
Hello from brazil.. my compressor was replaced for a non-inverter (i had imported my fridge from usa and can not find the original compressor here to order)… fridge is cooling but everyday the error code DH appear (defrost error)… i need to turn off/on the AC… how can i set the board to make the defrost?
Just use the aftermarket dual thermostat....
I would flush the system with nitrogen before soldring it together so it gets no residue from the inside . Then vacuum and fill. But i don't know much about fridge circuits. I build HVAC
The wiring segment was too clear for me can you do over that section or explain it
Good job thanks very much
What happens if you don't do the circuit board mod and just plug the new compressor in?
LG tech did my son’s today and said software update was mandatory otherwise it won’t operate properly and also replaced other board too. 90 minutes.
@Brian Baker this is a conversion to a non linear compressor so no software update is necessary.
add how many oz r134 ?
Conventional compressors are the best. New tech compressors like linear and inverter are rubbish
Conventional are the simplest. The Embraco inverter models are very reliable, it is the control boards which may fail first within the first 5 years and replacement is DIY and about 80-100$. Cheaper if you know what you are doing...
Inverter nonlinear compressors are superior
So are these so called "linear" Compressor from LG are faulty and failed design actually?

good afternoon, I'm a refrigeration-air conditioning technician, I have a fridge like that and it's the motor that doesn't work. with the video you made there are some connections that I don't understand. can you give me some explanation?
Those two wires have direct 12 volt they do not shut off the relay that you are using for the compressor🙄😔
You still need to add FL-3FF-S-Z relay module 5v. to the signal Orange wire that turns on the fan coming out by the condenser fan or PCB, Blk & Red=12v...
There us a friend who has a refrigerator just like that only lasted 2 yrs and compressor gone and if I could get a schematic of the wiring I would be able to repair it
Hello everyone, I need your help. i don't get it yet. Thank you very much
Use a thermocouple to show us accurate temps.
LG authorized tech set our son’s this morning at -4F and 37F which he said was recommended.
Do we REALLY need all the complex electronics to perform a simple operation of compressor on, compressor off???
Bad idea for 4 wires fan it work only with 3 wire fan
you do realize that lg watched these videos and changed the condenser fan power supply so you cant add a relay right.
perfect job

the is 2 wire giving 12v dc alway. But there isa 3 wire its 0,6v dv when fan is stop. and when fan is On , its 1,63v dc.
and a 4 wire arround 6v dc always
i saw in the comments some people manage to wire the compressor to the defrost circuit
there maybe another way to make it work. pwm to dc voltage, i working on that now. its a small device conveting the fan pwm voltage to a stable dc. do your reseasrch
I did it 2 years ago with a transistor

You should be using heat block on the steel lines going into the body to keep the insulation from melting.
This is dumb why not show us a close up of the wiring now we have to guess on how to do this
Not a fan of using solder as a mechanical connection - should have cut off that connector and crimped both wires into a new connector.

I have an LG GS73SDD 2019 Also with a malfunction linear compressor. I can buy a new one for 250USD and get it installed but the LG morons say that I have to upgrade my software and I don't have that programmer.
The compressor I have is a FLB075LANA and must be replaced by a FLS075LANA, I assume the S stand for the modified parts that fail typical for the FLB075 compressor. I assume that the FLS075 is mechanically and electrically the same and these compressors don't interface directly with the controller. So why the hell want LG force me to make extra costs for and upgrade.
Does anyone know the reason for that software upgrade or is it just and other scam of LG.
Lg compressors often fail due to poor software. If you do not upgrade the software, new compressors are likely to experience premature failures.
@@ApplianceRepairinColorado Thanks for your response, i appreciate it. But how can software cause mechanical failure? I assume that the coil of these linear motors are AC activated to make the inside piston move alternating within the magnetic field. I do understand that there are maximum frequencies and currents that may limit the capabilities of this linear motor, but I guess within a certain margin these motors don't differ that much, isn't it? or are they that sensitive?
