Thank you so much for this video. I’ve never had melanoma; I had breast cancer decades ago. I wanted to add that everyone should have an annual skin check (full-body skin check), even if there aren’t any symptoms of any skin cancers or other skin problems. This is prophylactic. Moles that don’t have any ABCDE signs can still be melanoma. Don’t be scared, just have a licensed dermatologist look at your entire body, including fingernails and toenails and scalp, once a year. And, of course, look at your own skin each month and see a dermatologist ASAP if you see anything questionable. And never go to a tanning bed place. Be safe and be well.

I am Stage 4 Melanoma . My melanoma started in my thumb .Under my thumbnail it was turning black . I went to a Dr and told it was a fungal infection . I even asked " could this be melanoma ? . I was told no . My sister who is an RN . I sent her pics of my thumb and she said the Dr was right . So I felt as ease . The nail became crumbly and I thought it was going through a replacement of a damaged nail . At times it glazed over but then back to dark . I kept it bandaged. Then in early 2020 , readying for work . I dropped a pair of pants and the hangers end tore through where my nail once was . Ran to the sink bleeding and cried " Lord . What are you telling me ? " .went to a hand surgeon and he couldn't believe how eyes . said it looked like melanoma me clipped pieces off . Came back malignant . Did a double surgery of amputation of the thumb and biopsy of my Sentinels . Came back hot . Did scans of my brain and body . Came back 3 brain tumors . They put in a chest port for immunotherapy and fashioned a mask for Truebeam for my brain . They knocked out the tumors and have been NED for a year . .

Woah what a story! I can’t imagine how scary it was when it did come back cancer…in this regard, trusting yourself was always the hardest decision when people you trust are telling you, it’s not cancer. I am glad to hear that you are NED now and have put melanoma to rest. Just remember how sneaky it is and that it can always return, sadly, but there are many who beat this for life!! I hope we are both that type of success story.

@@MyMelanomaWorld It's been tough . When I got the initial call that it was malignant melanoma . I was stunned . I would have never imagined that any type of cancer could start in a thumb . Even after diagnosis , Some thought I was joking " Nah . Cancer can't start in a thumb " . Though having cancer is awful , For me the worst part was having to go to hospitals alone through this pandemic , I have always tried to hold my pain in because I didn't want to grieve others .Sometimes I think it harder for loved ones to watch us go through this , Than ourselves . My best way to deal with it all . Is smile .make others laugh , be corny and do my best .. When I was scheduled for thumb amputation , A few days before , I asked my wife to come listen to me . Many might think this unbelievable , We have been together 23 years and she has never heard me play my guitar. I begged her " Come listen " Put on my guitar, Put on a backing track and played with blood running down my hand and unto the strings . I was crying and her eyes widened " I never knew you could play like that . Why didn't you go professional ? " . It has always been my escape and I never wanted to play professionally . . I felt that these were the last few days of ever playing again . So I had to open that Gift for her .I had written to a guitarist virtuoso . That was stricken with ALS in 1991 . That he was expected not to live , He is paralyzed and can only communicate with a computer that follows his eyes for letters , He wrote to me and I lost it , I found a piece of music one day online dedicated to me . A backing track to play along with . I broke down crying . I had to keep going !!! . I have asked like Forrest Gump did " What is my purpose here " and she told him . One day you'll find out . I am reaching for that everyday now , To find it is what I am to do , I think part of my life's story is to testify . To help others . Lastly , When people tell me I am strong and a fighter . I tell them " It's not me , I have been blessed with caring Dr's , nurses , and have courted Angels unaware . They have been fighting for me . Peace Stephen

My dad had malignant melanoma back in 1968. He opted for radical surgery and no chemo or radiation (his preference). They had 4 kids under 10, they went to Case Western Reserve and I recall my mother saying the surgeons didn’t even want to push on his chest near the mole. It had turned black purple and my mother “didn’t like the looks of it” and nagged him. They did what’s equivalent to radical mastectomy removing his pectoral muscle (chest) and removed a few portions of ribs and had to graft the huge cave with skin grafts. You could actually see his heart beating if he didn’t have a shirt on. He used to keep his check book in his left shirt pocket just over it to protect his heart. He lived 5 decades into his 80’s so the surgery saved his life. I have an annual skin evaluation with dermatologist to remove any moles that look suspicious. Wishing you the best. Thanks for sharing your story.

I am a 32 year old cancer patient, it’s not melanoma, but just having cancer and treatment puts me at risk of other cancers. I also have a family history of skin cancers, everyone in my mums side of my family from age 40 and up, all have skin cancer. This video is a wake up call, I don’t wear sunscreen unless I am actually spending time outside. Most of the time, I am indoors because I am disabled and bedridden. If I go out, it’s to the car and off to the hospital most of the time. I have never really thought about how the sun rays still get on me anytime I go out, even if I am not spending the day out going to the beach or something. So you have helped me and given me the best chance to prevent melanoma. I am also going to get this strange mole on my toe checked. I want to say thank you. I hope you’re doing okay. ❤

It was great to watch your story, thank you for sharing your experience and emotion. For me the waiting was the worst where i have developed health anxiety that has stayed with me since 2013. Had a mole that itched bad in the middle of my back, went to the dermo and similer to you had it removed quickly. Received a call 2 days later late on a Friday afternoon telling me it was positive for melanoma and to come in on a Monday for an excision. Thats it!!! Spent the whole weekend Dr Googling and hit panick stations, thinking the worst only to be told on the Monday it is stage 1 and all will be well. Unfortunately the stress i put myself through scarred me so bad and i havent been the same since. Get me near a doctor now and my blood pressure goes through the roof. Every lump, bruise or cough causes me anxiety. PTSD for sure.

I just had my biopsy on Friday. I asked the doctor to give me some clues, and he said to wait 14 days. I am not happy!!! I am googling everywhere to get something to hang on. My story: a few months ago, there was a white spot on my head just in the hairline, itchy and flaky! I did not know white could be a melanoma!! Now, it turns into a blackish spot... So, I have palpitations and worry. I am in Sydney. In her video, there was background talk; the noise was disturbing and upsetting. Thank you for this video. I found out two weeks ago a spot on my back was melanoma, stage 2. I go in on Feb 14th to have surgery. Wish me luck. The spot was on my back and my husband never noticed and of course I couldn't see it. On my back was odd because it has not been exposed to the sun since the early 80s.
When I was younger we layed out all the time, no sunscreen, etc. I guess it catches up with you. I had a full body scan because of other spots I wanted checked out. I kept putting off. Glad I finally went or the cancer would have gone unnoticed. I pray you continue to be melanoma safe.

That depends on the stage of melanoma. It isn’t the case if it’s spread to the lymphatic system. Your odds of reoccurrence is higher, since it’s traveled inside your body. I am not sure how much in depth you’ve spoken about melanoma
Localized melanoma. For cancer with no sign of spread beyond where it started in the skin, the five-year relative survival rate is 98%.
Regional melanoma. For cancer that has spread to nearby lymph nodes or nearby areas of the body, the five-year survival rate is 64%
Distant melanoma. For cancer that has spread to remote parts of the body, such as distant skin areas, or the lungs or liver, the five-year survival rate is 23%.

I live in Oklahoma and the fendbendazole dog wormer cure sort of became famous when a guy name Joe Tippens in Edmond OK. used it to cure stage 4 lung cancer. My Mom used it to cure colon cancer in 3 months, and didn't do any surgery, chemo, or radiation. Joe actually got the idea from his veterinarian who used it to cure her cancer. It was an accidental discovery that came about when scientists were using mice for cancer research and gave them fenbendazole to control the parasites. Soon they noticed the mice were cancer free after being given this dewormer. Nobody knows for sure how it works, but one theory is that it starves the cancer cells of glucose and glutamine, 2 things they need to survive, but it doesn't deprive healthy cells of this. Another theory is that all cancer is caused by viruses and fenbendazole is anti viral and disrupts RdRp enzymes required for viral replication. This dewormer is in the same class as the Iv___n so called horse dewormer that cures Covid. YT banned that i word at one time and would ghost ban any comment containing the word, so I'm still gun shy lol. I used the i wormer after catching covid when it first hit the US in Feb of 2020, and it saved my life. Anyway, sorry to hear about your brother. If he decides to try the wormer, you can YT or google search "Joe Tippens protocol" and it will show the dosage. He also used theracurmin, which is a more absorbable form of curcumin. My Mom also used this stuff. I don' know if it's really any better than normal Curcumin, but they say it is. It's about a hundred dollars a bottle for the stuff. Olive leaf extract and oil of oregano are also anti cancer, and my Mom took them too, but I think the main thing that cured it was fenbendazole dog wormer. It's a shame that big pharma is trying to suppress this information. As you know, chemo is a billion dollar industry. Joe had 1.2 million in chemo, which his insurance paid for, and it not only didn't work, but caused the lung cancer to spread into his bones and throughout his body. After all the chemo and radiation, he was eventually told by his doctor there was no hope, and to go home and call hospice. Chemo is the same chemical as mustard gas that was used in WW2 and later banned by the UN.

I’m so sorry about your dad. Btw, if a cancer spreads to another part of the body (in your dad’s case, to his liver), it’s called metastatic melanoma (in your dad’s case), not liver cancer. The cancer cells are still the same cells as their original source. So if my breast cancer spreads to my bones or liver or wherever, it’s still metastatic breast cancer, not bone (or liver) cancer.

Staying mentally strong, maybe the toughest part about fighting cancer! I can give you my piece of advice: FAMILY! It’s the only thing that got me through it. More time spent with my loved ones, enjoying each other, helps pass the mentally toughness of cancer. If it’s not easy to have a lot of you together, keeping busy helps too. I’m sorry about your family and I Hope that this new therapy works for him!!!

There are some on the App Store you can use. Search skin check or mole tracker or check. I haven’t used one recently so I’m not sure on names. I typically take a photo, add it to my notes with the date. Then next dermatologist appt I show them if there’s changes

@@MyMelanomaWorld seeing your story now, got me really concerned... I have my body covered with moles, so I do see a dermatologist regulary, I removed a melanoma in Oct 2018, it was found in one of this visits, as soon as he saw that lesion in the back of my right arm, a place I really could not see, he said it would be a big chance to be a melanoma, so when he said, that and scheduled it to remove, he was only going to go superficially, I told him not, I told him, go ahead as deep as you think you need to go to get this removed asap. It was sent to biopsy and came back as melanoma (Clark level II/III) and that all the boards around the lesion it was clear. My dermatologist said to not worry because I was clear and no treatment was going to be needed, I just do a follow up with him every 6 months , it does not go longer than a year to see him... So far every visit is a relieve to hear when he say, it is only good news, now seeing your story you were also clear, and then that same melanoma came back, this is scary... specially not knowing what to look for. I am Brazilian living in the USA now, and my doctor is in Brazil, my brother owns a lab, so every time I go there I have a huge series of lab work, blood tests, gynecologist, go thru endoscopies , I mean I try to be vigilant, my only problem detected later is that I am overweight and this is altering my liver enzymes, ultrassound show steatosis. In your case, how did you proceed after your first diagnosed, did you do check ups, and how long after the first melanoma you found that lump? THank you for sharing your story, as scary it can be it is also inspiring.

My father who is 86 was just diagnosed with Merkel cell carcinoma. At the same time, he was also diagnosed with his second squamous cell carcinoma. I had never even heard of Merkel cell carcinoma. Turns out it is extremely aggressive and rare. My father is scheduled for surgery on May 15. 😅I am his caretaker so I am taking him to all his appointments. I have had two biopsies in the past for skin cancer, but they came out negative. I did not take care of myself. Did a lot of tanning when I was younger and including in tanning beds. I am almost 66 so that was a generational thing. I’m so sorry you dealt with this as a young person. Thank you for providing all of awareness that you are.
