    I just came across this video today. I am happy your story was a positive one. I am currently waiting for my results. I had a mole on the side of my head. Unfortunately I waited 2 years before I did anything about it. The mole had gotten larger and became irregularly shaped. It also had began itching and developed a scab. My dermatologist had to do a punch removal. I will admit that I am very nervous. I shouldn't have waited so long to have it checked.

    Well done! As a two time, early stage melanoma survivor, I appreciate this immensely.

    This is so important! Thanks for sharing your story. A lot of people associate Melanoma skin cancer being an older person's issue. This is becoming so prevalent in young people! Your story matters, and yes you're a survivor!! Never downplay your story!! Your video I know will save lives!! Catching this nasty cancer early is key!! I am 20 years past my melanoma diagnosis!! Very grateful for that, i have been very much blessed. Thanks for sharing your story!!

    Nice message. I have melanoma on my nose. Had the surgery yesterday and waiting to see if the Dr. got all of it. If so(prayers), then off to the plastic surgeon.

    Hey I totally relate to your story. I’m 34 and I live up here in wi, not exactly the sunshine state, and I had melonoma on the top of my ear which was removed and a lymph node in my neck removed and checked. That was negative! But the whole thing was a pretty scary ordeal. My doctor told me the supplement vitamin D3 is a good one to take when you’ve had a history of skin cancer. Anyway, thank you for sharing your story

    I've been having breast pain in one of my breasts. I'm 27 and had a mindset of oh it's nothing, oh I don't want to go have a doctor touch me, etc. This video just happened to pop up in my suggested videos. I know my issue is not skin cancer related but I feel I needed to see it. Thank you for posting this.

      +mcg267 Wow! Thank you for sharing! It can be hard to be that vulnerable but the alternative is so much worse. I hope you see a doctor soon and find that there's nothing wrong. Feel free to come back and let me know!!

    actually, I think we need more of these stories. I come from a family with a history of melanoma, my sister passed away 3 1/2 years ago. Im Irish Italian Greek and German. I had all the irish red headed and pale. she had all the Italian and Greek, so black hair, could tan. so we never even thought she was at risk. she got her mole on the back, so never knew it was there, nodular melanoma only takes 2-3 weeks, to maybe a month, cause it grows down, not outward.
    I learned from her ordeal, you have to attack it as soon as possible. I dont care how small or unconcern you are, if theres a little part of (you) that is concerned, go get it removed.
    there are advancements every day , and I always thought skin cancer was easy cause they can just cut it out, but your best shot is getting it early.

      i also had stage zero melanoma, i had surgery to remove the cancer & the surrounding skin around it
      have to see a dermatologist every 3 months for 2 yrs, then every 6 months at 2-4 yrs & at the 5 yr mark, go see derm once a yr
      get checked! it could save your life!

    I'm really happy to find someone who has had an easy go with, what I consider to be, the one cancer, above all other types, that I never want to get.
    When I was a teen I naturally tanned dark without lying in the sun trying to tan. I never burned. I remember my mom gave me $20 once if I'd cover up for rest of summer - she was concerned how dark I was getting.
    Because of the natural exposure I got as a kid + teen I have made the decision + have avoided the sun totally for years.
    People lying in the sun + using tanning beds need to watch a video about multiple myeloma because so many people know very little about practices that are dangerous in promoting cancer + avoiding them.
    Come to think of it I need to do some more reading.
    I do wish you the best of luck + believe that you did have a great Dr who acted early. All the best.
    P.S: There is a UA-cam channel called "The Patient Story" who is run by a cancer survivor who has patient survivors come on the show + tell their story's.
    It is divided into playlists based on the cancer type. It is a wonderful resource for patients just diagnosed to help, through knowledge, dispell fear from the unknown. I think that your story would be great to show that the disease isn't always life changing + a nightmare.
    It's just a thought!
    Again best wishes!❤

    I am not worried about biopsies, but worried that what would happen if I have something serious. It could save my life though still. I have a suspicious mole on my trunk, it doesn't grow soon or pain, but still I am scared.

      If you don't mind me asking how did your biopsy turn out? I just found a weird looking mole on my chest that I hadn't noticed before. I went to the derm to get it checked and she found a second weird shaped mole on my back. I had a biopsy on both. Waiting for the results and I'm really nervous lol. Hope everything checked out well for you! I'll pray that it did!

      Tired Mommy Tales thanks! Got them yesterday! As far as I understood from the diagnosis there is no evidence of melanoma on that skin. Now i will just have to protect myself from the sun and watch out for the new moles i guess.

    Was the eczema on your hands actually related to the melanoma? Or was it just a coincidence?

    • @TiredMommyTales
      @TiredMommyTales  7 років тому +1

      The exzcema was not related at all - was a complete coincidence!

  • @tchrisou812
    @tchrisou812 5 років тому

    was the biopsy painful?

    • @TiredMommyTales
      @TiredMommyTales  5 років тому +3

      I don't think they are particularly painful. I've had both shave & punch biopsies and they numb the area beforehand. Depending on where the biopsy was it can be uncomfortable afterward if clothes rub on it or its an area that is touched a lot. For instance, I once had 3 at one time, including one on the top of my head and one on my side. The one on my side was worse because it was close to my bra line.
      I would 1000% take the discomfort after a biopsy over a melanoma diagnosis!!! Thanks for the question!
