thank you for this interview!! he's very gracious...i disagree, however about the definitions of wealth and poverty NOW vs back at the turn of the century...wealth is what you are grateful for...i'd rather be homeless in america (which i WAS! for quite a long time! cliche homeless vet!) than in any other country...and i was always grateful for the shelter of my car, the opportunity of working four jobs, and going to school...now i have a house, a little preschool, i only work about four total hours a day...telling 'poor' people they are helpless is unkind...infantalizing certain races is UNKIND...help people focus on what they do have because more will come to you with GRATITUDE!...test THAT!
it also kind of bothers me that lucy's mother made her a 'maid' ...like 'you're my daughter, i want you near to me, but you're gonna have to clean my house and serve me' lol...that whole situation is just weird...i like my version where lucy says peace out! i'ma go be a nanny for the crawley's! some sort of angry phase and then her and tom fall in love and when he left for america, she went to be a maid for her mom since she's forgiven her...'nanny' has always been in the show and she always had just left tom with sybbie to go get laundry, go get the meal...they had more than one nanny! and someone would have to be on duty at night, right? lots of late night conversations in the nursery, day trips to the lake with the kids...big fight over whether or not he actually slept with edna...(i don't think he did...cause whiskey dick is a thing! he was too drunk to remember and just woke up with her in his bed...) i just would have liked more of a relationship courting process rather than, 'here's this maid for tom!' FOUR MINUTES OF SCREEN TIME, ONE or TWO DAYS in the movies timeline and BAM they're married....i just feel kind of gypt...no tom and sybil in dublin...no tom and sybbie in boston...and no courtship (though i DO love the dancing at the end...she kissed him pretty fast! HUSSY! by that time's standards! LOL!)
Tom is one of my favorite characters on Downton Abbey!
How will Sybbie afford (pay for) the Villa's upkeep. And what happens in a few years when WWII comes to Downton (and the south of France)?
During some time periods, it could be rented out.
Ah, the charm of the Irish!
the accelerator on the steering wheel is as bad as the walther with the mag release around the trigger!
41 successful trips around the sun

This interviewer is constantly saying “you know “. Distracting.

Your version is an updated fan fiction view, which is fine. The show’s version is based on real life situations and how they’re dealt with.
