I thought she seemed rushed and rude by constantly cutting people short. Made it seem like an insincere conversation. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
Saw the movie last night and LOVED IT! I am not dedicated follower of the series either. It was just so good, well acted, beautifully filmed, wonderful scenery, costumes, great humor and compassionate humanity. See it on the big screen if you can. It is worth it!. :)
You bet there will be another sequel for wholesome entertainment. What a great way to return to the movies after two years plus Pandemic. This was absolutely grand. Cudos !💐❤️💐
Just got done watching original show for the 7th time, plus the first movie for the 3rd time. Waiting for 2nd movie on DVD. Anticipation...it's making me wait. LOVE , LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!! CAN'T GET ENOUGH!!! Hats off to ALL!!!!
It might not be a good idea to do this. Maggie's character, grandmama Violet is suppose to die in the series soon. (If she didn't die at the end of the movie already - didn't watch it yet, so no spoilers!). The other characters can hold on their own for the series, but it just wouldn't be the same with Maggie Smith, and in real life the actress is getting old so who knows how long she has left. I'm hoping 100+ years. I'm sure some of the other actors moved onto other stuff too for their main work.
3:22 "Still upset about Matthew dying in season one...so you're not a fan if you don't know that!" It was season three Matthew died. You're not a fan of you don't know that.
Rather snobby of you. My 83 year old mother knows that Matthew died, but would she know which season? No. Does that make her less of a fan? No. It makes you look like an arrogant fool.
It’s not arrogant to point out that she made an error in saying Matthew died in Season One because Matthew doesn’t die in Season One like she said. She was wrong. Pointing this out doesn’t make someone an “arrogant fool” and not knowing that doesn’t mean someone can’t be a fan. Your Grandmother has great taste! Savannah had a difficult task of interviewing multiple people, keeping things interesting, and recalling facts about a series over 10 years old.
I love watching Jimmy Fallon's version of this called Downtown SixB........My favotite is when one of the earlier cast was a meddling maid with a strong Scottish accent and she would be working out her plan with the meddling footman and at the end of it he always said "What?"......I couldn't understand her either.
All I know is...Nobody better die. Period. My two sisters and I are going to see this after work tomorrow. I'm so excited. We love Downton Abbey! I got them both hooked during the pandemic. Lol. I'm like a kid waiting for Santa.
I thought the same thing when she said it. Then she said real fans already know that and I said out loud that she must not be if she doesn’t really know what season, lol 😂
@@jan_c “real fans.” Does my 83 year old mother remember that Matthew died in season three? No. Does that make her less of a “real fan’? No. ‘Lol” shows your immaturity.
Ok I know that Michelle sings ( check out her singing The Folks who live on the hill) but didn’t know anything about Michael Fox , the footman, so I checked out their EP Watching the Silence single and listened to the rest of the songs in the album. Wow I was blown away by Michael’s voice esp in the song Misfire excellent singer.
'lucy' should have been sybbie's nanny...she has been part of the show since season 3 and she had always just left the room! tom and sybil in dublin would have been fun to see...and then tom and sybbie in boston...and it would have been fun to see tom and lucy courting! four minutes of screen time and BAM they're married!
I think Savannah just gave away the end of the movie, there's only one thing that could cause tears. So besides her usual poor interview skills and lack of preparation (Matthew died at the end of season 3) she has managed to ruin it.
It would be nice to see Brendan Coyle in some of these interviews. Actually it would be nice to see his character get better story lines. Boo Fellowes.
Brendan Coyle is an alcoholic, so maybe just a good idea to interview him. And there’s insurance involved with actors/actresses based on their behavior on and off set. He might not be in the movie much because Julian couldn’t insure him.
Maybe I will be alone with my opinion. The members of the family seem so quiet, nice, real aristocrats. On the contrary, the hostess is so loud, pushing, fast. They could hardly say Yes or No and maybe one sentence, and the hostess immediately jumped to another guest. Only her too loud voice was heard and it sounded out of tune with the whole scene. It is my personal opinion, no offence please!
I loved Downton but enough is enough. Instead of leaving with wonderful memories, they just keep making up more implausible stories. By now, Mary and Edith should be in their 50’s and Violet 115!
You don’t want to see the new movie, don’t. No one is forcing you. Otherwise: You are showing yourself to be a fool. The new movie is set in 1928. Lady Mary was born in 1891, so she’s only 36/37. I was a DT addict, for all seasons. UNTIL, I learned about how many people who worked in service, in highly stratified British society, because of the absence of social mobility. It's highly unrealistic, and a kind of slavery. To this day, if you forget your place, someone will quickly remind you. I appreciated how the interviewer kept everyone engaged and flowed from one question / response to the next. That's experience right there.
