I had a 1961 MGA mark 2 , it was my first car back in 1966 , loved that car , being a mechanic ,I had it painted, new top and the new type of aluminum side curtains at that time . Wish I had it today . I also had a 1990 Mazda, Miata that I installed a supercharger, exhaust, and much more , trying to get that MGA back in my head LOL , today if I had my old MGA I would install that Miata engine and transmission in the MGA , but being 75 it’s just a dream now , your car is beautiful, don’t ever sell,it like I did ! But my excuse was I was 20 years old and wanted more ! LOL

I am definitely not an engineer, I would not even describe myself as home mechanic. I owned an A back in the day 50 years ago and decided to purchase a wreck and restore it. Ironically it came from the USA. I had endless problems that I had to solve and I made many many mistakes. However, the one area which was absolutely straightforward was attaching the 5 speed gearbox, although it was made easier with the body off. I did it all by myself and I am 70 plus and not skilful.I do understand the speedo cable problem for LHD. The conversion together with a MGB 3.9 diff has made all the difference. If I can do it, I can assure you, you can. I bought my kit straight from the creator. I thought the quality of the bell housing and propshaft was excellent.

Hi there I installed the vitesse 5 speed gearbox in my MGA roadster three years ago and it's fantastic. Luckily I have a 5 main bearing MGB engine so have a little more power to play with. For the sake of trouble free motoring when the old gearbox was removed I replaced the rear main seal and had the flywheel surface machined I also noticed some damaged teeth on the ring gear so replaced it. Add black smith to my list of achievements. I too had to cut the fire wall a bit to get the old gearbox out and new one in but over all the job went quite well. The hardest thing I came across was getting the old spigot Bering from hell out🥵. Even with a puller it took ages of me lying on my back and having to tap the wrench with a hammer a fraction of an inch at a time. The car has now been transformed she keeps up in modern traffic on highways and cruises happily at 100 Klms all day with plenty in reserve for over taking. Great video I wish it was posted when I was doing mine 3 years ago.👍🏻
