Solid PSU (which is weirdly the first thing I check when looking at build lists 🙈). A great gaming build all round.
I have a pretty similar System except for the gpu, i chose a 7900 xt
Good stuff mr Daniel! Wish you where my teacher in school!
Nice build list
Compromises* it's misspelled in this comment and on the video's picture.
Instructions unclear. Which hydraulic press do I buy to crush my games?
Daaaaannnnng 💀💀💀
😅😅😅
A simple table vice should work.
Banana
A pneumatic one is enough.
Just want to point out that I remember when Daniel only had like 3k subs, and he hasn’t changed a bit since getting 185k+. This is proof that you don’t need flashy effects, expensive audio, or Hollywood-tier b-brolls to make it. Just be honest, be factually informative, and be kind. Congratulations, dude ❤
This is what integrity looks like. GZ Danny-boy!
Man I've just discovered ur channel. But I can say that, like, it's fun to watch you. The way you talk, way you look at your surroundings and stuff, it feels more genuine and feels like actually you are talking to the viewer instead of a camera!
I think he's a good speaker from years of teaching classes.
@@RickBeacham oh yeah? didn’t know that. the thing is, personally I like a good teacher more than anything else. they are the key in teaching, that’s golden for me.
The Montech Air 903 Base has a 140mm fan in back that matches the two in front. For mine, I moved the rear fan to the front (requires adjusting positions of all three) and added one I had on hand in back. There's also the Max version that comes with all four fans; they're RGB, but easy to turn off.

Hello Daniel, after more than a year of watching all your videos meticulously multiple times, I finally built a gaming pc too, based on your most recent recommendations in this video (ended up going for a 7600 and 4070 ti super, Alan Wake 2 at 1440p was my goal here). After fifteen years of gaming on a console, I am extremely happy with my return to pc gaming. Thank you so much for the great content and your advice! I will continue to follow your channel. Greetings from a fellow teacher from Belgium!
Glad you found my channel useful for planning your build! Enjoy!
Your builds are great help to those looking for the right parts. Your video comparing the cards led me to choose the 4070 super which was upgraded from a 1080ti and I couln't be happier!
The HDV/M2 mobo is absolutely goated
For those not wanting RGB/ARGB, its gold!
very good mobo for the price! been using Asrock since intel days they never disappoint!
Just picked one up yesterday at Microcenter in a combo with 7700x and some t-force ram. All for $330 after taxes. The board is way better at thermals than expected. Love it.
Great pc parts list! Provided that you don't care about upscaling or ray tracing, you can also get the 7900xt for about $690. About the same raw performance as the 4070 ti super and 20gb vram vs 16gb on the 4070 ti super.
If you want to go for more value, you can go with the 7900gre. About 13% less raw performance than the 4070 ti super, but it offers what it does at a much more affordable $530. (16gb memory, 13% slower than the 4070 ti super, but it is 31% cheaper).
Ewwww AMD GPU

I feel like saving money on PSU cost you more in the long run. I've paired my i5 2500k and Titan with Enermax 920W and today it is still alive and kicking, powering 5960X (200W+ TDP with OC) and RTX3070. Similarly my main workstation still runs on Corsair AX1500i and, unless standards drqstically change or a lightning finally fries it, it will last another decade. Quality PSUs lasts for multiple generations. Conversely my friends spent more on PSUs over the same period of time by going bare minimum, either by the virtue of needing more power for upgrade or PSU just giving up after being constantly abused at 95% rated capacity after a period.
Here is my Poor man cant afford to go on vacation buid. Built a PC in 2019 with X570 ,3600x 5700xt 16gb 3200mhz ram 750 psu.
Purchased Coolermaster MA612 to cool my new 5700x3d. upgraded to 32gb ram. Found 6800xt on used market. I have no issues playing games and only feel inferior to people with a RTX4090.
I got my 5700XT for $120 (Dell version) used. Not bad if you can find it
That build is perfect for the price.
I've got a 5800x3d and a 6800xt and it's a great combo for 1440p. At this point I basically feel like swapping my gpu to anything less than a 7900xt would not be worth the money.
@breadandcircus7695 5700xt was solid. Even after pairing with the 5700x3d many games got a Great boost. Just wanted a bit more jam. 6800xt is a great value right now and a strong performer.
@patrickmcgovern4004 Exactly. Its not the fastest but it plays everyrhing this year and next year at high detail. I will get a 8800xt used in 2.5 years 🤣
My algorithm of choosing hardware is 100% the same as yours. Cheers from Poand!

well this is usa money without taxes, after you buy the usa product then you get the tax . So its the same amount either way , just the european one is safer because it includes the tax so you dont overspend

25% extra + chemical taxes 💀cheapest 4080S is 1300$
@@Herr_Affe lol felt that. But hey, what's a 60% to 90% tax? pfff...
Bought that same cooler Daniel recommended for my 5700x3d recently. Easy install and it keeps it quiet cool without much noise.
What did you upgrade to your 5700x3d from? I was contemplating upgrading to that from my 5600g, just to remove some of the lows I get occasionally in games. What has your experience been? Would you recommend it? Does it run hot naturally?
Prime day is about 3 weeks away, so just keep that in mind
Ah, prime day. The same day where distributors drop prices to what they should be after increasing them...
My man said prime day😂😂 who gonna tell him?
Supply and demand on GPUs doesn't warrant "sale" pricing.
@@tony_T_ HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH you right man!!!
for reducing costs I honestly would have suggested cutting AM5 and go for the same AM4 performance but a 5800x3D instead.
5800x3d fit on am4???
@@Kevin-mx4vm Yes, although the 5700X3D is arguably a better value. Depends on the actual pricing of both in a person's region.
All you need is an used rtx 3060 12gb for $200 and you can play any game you want in 1080p. I know because i have one and there is no game i can't play. I can even play alan wake 2 medium settings
I have five terabytes between three different drives, and I regret not getting 1 4 terabyte. That would make my life a little bit easier. I did it most people would do two terabytes and be fine, but I Maude Skyrim and fallout 4 with Wabbajack It takes a lot of. mods that are pretty big And I'm still wanting to do more mods.
SLC cache is present in all modern consumer SSDs. I assume you were thinking of a DRAM cache, which is no longer as necessary as it used to be, so only high-end SSDs use it.
Teamgroup MP44L was a good choice for the price though
Build for 1457$ is just perfect, thanks a lot!
as an ordinary user who watches videos, and plays games daily. i would go for b650 pg lightning (you can get new for 140$) it has no wifi or fancy additional stuff. but with good vrm and simple design it does its job done. paired with 7800x3d and 6000 ddr5 32gb indeed. also i consider my 3060ti enough for 1080p gaming
i built: i5-13600k, z790 msi gaming pro wifi mobo, 32gb 7200 mhz ram, noctua nh-d15 , rm 750e psu, bought these items all at discounted prices and picked up a facebook marketplace gpu (rx 6800) for 240$ bringing my total to around 1100-1200$ not bad plus i got a case that came with a 1tb ssd
"I wanna just plug an ethernet cable"
Don't we all? that's the dream, but house layouts..
@alargecorgi2199 it doesn’t work in some houses I heard. I am lucky enough to be able to use wifi 6E 6ghz!
I hired an electrician
@@Juice_VI live in a rental :c
Get 2 used/cheaper WiFi6 routers like an RT-AX53U (although there are better ones, but they're usually $40), install OpenWRT and use a WiFi to Ethernet bridge with those. I've had really good success in the replace where I CANNOT run cables and my clients only had WiFi 5 or just generally shit connectivity. WiFi 6 router to router is a livesaver. My main routers get between 1.5-2Gbit between them
@@ameliabuns4058me too, and i ran over 200 feet of cat 5e rj45 for my 3 2k security cameras, work laptop and gaming/nvr/media server pc, there is always an access panel to run cables trough the walls in apartment buildings, do it bro, you won't regreat it as soon as you try that sweet sweet 2.5Gbit lan speed 😂.
Wanted to add something about RAM. You may have same timings and speed in mhz, and you should look at ram speed itself. Had few ram sticks from Kingston, same speed, timings but speed of ram itself was 48 000mb vs 40 000 or less, don't remember
I love your thought process in building this machine.
I have 7800x3d and a 3080. Few months ago I helped a friend of mine to build a PC and my recommendations were 7800x3d unless you have to get something cheaper. My friend didn't care about GPU software features so we just looked at the current pricing and Techpowerup GPU performance list and settled on 7800xt. In motherboard selection I recommended to look at the features and ports he wants and after that make sure it has a good review. The performance of my current and his new system should be about the same and it should handle most games 1440p +120fps.
One of my friends got 7500F now and will upgrade if it starts feeling inadequate. TBH the performance is good enough compared to my 7950X3D unless you really want to squeeze absolutely every frame to match your 540Hz monitor 😅
Why do you have a top of the line CPU, paired with a previous gen gpu? When 4070S provides value for money!
@@pratiklandge3207 because 7800XT is much cheaper than 4070 Super and if you don't particularly care about RT (honestly, out of all games I play regularly only 1 supports it... and it's not even worth turning on - Darktide), 7900GRE is the better option... and still cheaper 🙄
@@pratiklandge3207 Mainly because the 40 series was way more expensive than I had expected and I still wanted to upgrade my cpu that was 5600x at the time.
I bought the 3080 at launch for msrp so none of the 40 series cards felt like a good value upgrade.
@@Micromation Very true and that is a good way to go unless you are a enthusiast who gets the good stuff just for the fun of it (like me). Back in the day when I was a student I luckily got rid of my performance issues by overclocking my 4670k, ~10% clock increase without even touching the voltage.
Honestly, you've done a good job. I think $1,500 is not too much to ask for.
for the longest time, it's always been about 1000 to 1300 for a good mid high-end computer anyway. My problem is I love rgb, so I have spent 800bucks on that alone but now I have it for future builds
I made an 1600$ build with 7700 CPU (nonX - it gives a cooler too) and 7800XT GPU, the main expensive part was - Samsung 870 QVO 4 TB 2.5" Solid State Drive (299$) - and the - Chieftec ATMOS 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (189$) - I like Chieftec for PSU. I was also looking for low base energy requirement, but high overclock potential still if needed.
Nice build but I would go with a better motherboard especially for AM5 because of the option to upgrade the CPU later + higher tier motherboard has more and better features.
I'm 100% with you, no RGB in my black box.
Great build! I was looking for a good ATX case and my requirements are the same: big box with good ventilation. Also I was surprized that top-tier PC is possible for under $1700.
If I would personally go with a new PC at the moment, I would probably go with
CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D or wait till new X3D are out (Worth the extra money in my eyes)
Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 360mm (I am really sensitive if it comes to noise)
RAM: 32GB 6000MT/s CL30
Motherboard: Depends. I like to have a lot M.2 places
SSD: Lexar NM790 4TB (I am in Germany, and they are priced well here, and I use a lot of storage)
GPU: RX 7900 GRE (I play on 1440p, like to try Linux and the 4070 Super doesn't give me enough FPS with RT on to be interesting for me and I would overclock)
Case: Lian Li Lancool 3 (have the Lancool 3 at the moment and I love it, so I don't think I could go with another one)
PSU: Probably 850W+ just to be sure
Good point the 4070 Super likely does not give enough RT performance either way. I have the Lian Li case with Auros Master and the air flow is super great . If your only worried about gaming/lite productivity then likely a 7900* is the best value but according to recent bench marks the NVIDIA is still a must needed tool for 3d artists and other workflows in AI. Rasterization = AMD and NVIDIA = Ray Tracing.
I'm just playing AC, Rfactor2, Fifa, and Iracing so the 7800X3d with 6800 worked for me. Linux runs on my Macbook in a virtual machine. :(
@@RickBeacham yeah no the 4070 Super doesn't give enough performance for me on 1440p. At least according to the benchmarks of Daniel owen. And yeah I am aware that the 4070 Super is better for workloads, but I don't really use them, and if I do something for 3D rendering it is just an SLC file to something my 3D printer to understand. And that takes way less time than the print either way. Even with a RX 480 8GB
And yeah the Lancool 3 is awesome. Needed to clean mine a few days ago, and how it is build just made it so much easier
I actually play a lot of AAA and heavy games (although I now play more Indie games at the moment). But want FPS around 90, because 60 FPS doesn't feel great for me. Even in single player games. And that is hard enough to hit either way on 1440p. So I don't think RT will be important for me at this point. Especially not if I would play indie
I also don't use Linux at the moment, but thinking of switching more and more. Especially now that most games I play, that didn't run before, work on Linux. Also tried it on my steam deck, and it is really cool that they now work. Which I didn't expect. But I would like to put it on another SSD before I switch, because I can't really use one of the ones already in my PC. And then just see how it works for 30 days
In my experience, Arctic's fans actually have a somewhat annoying whine when they're running at about 40% speed (at higher speed they become louder but less annoying). If you want silent across a wide range of speeds, a Noctua air cooler is probably a better choice (but comparatively more expensive - you'll be paying as much for a single Noctua fan as you would for three Arctic fans).
@@RFC3514 I have 3 120mm and 3 140mm arctic 12P ARGB in my case and never had a problem with whine. So idk. But my problem is more when fans go higher and I hear the air moving. So I have good experience with them and personally don't think noctua would be worth the extra money. Especially, because testing from gamers nexus show that the arctic liquid freezer 3 is cooler at the same noise level than a noctua NH-D15
@@cybernd6426 - As long as the processors aren't throttling, you gain nothing by making them a few degrees cooler (especially if you lose in terms of noise).
I have a Noctua cooler in one of my old systems and (although it took me a long time to decide, because it was much more expensive than the alternatives), now I consider it one of my best purchases ever. Ten years later it's still working fine and it's absolutely silent.
I bought the (Arctic) fans / cooler in my current case after reading reviews, but what most reviews don't tell you is what the noise sounds like (they just measure volume). I ended up changing my fan speed profile manually to try to stay below 30% and then rise quickly to 50%, to avoid the "whiny" part around 40%, but I still notice it.
ASRock is tough to beat for value. I've been using the HDVs and Riptides in my builds with very good results.
Personally, I'd get a motherboard with the X670E chipset (more ports, better future upgradeability) and I'd probably get a cheaper graphics card, to be replaced in 6 to 12 months. Nearly every card in the current generation seems overpriced for the actual performance improvement over the previous generation. The 4070 Super should be a sub-$500 card.
Also, a system based on the 5700X3D CPU would be pretty good value for money right now, though less upgradeable in the future.
Thanks so much this type of video. It helps so much when building a PC I am going to go with the first build you mentioned at around $1600.
I assume this is also good for competitive high FPS 1440 P gaming?
Thanks again !
Hope you continue this series!
Only thing I'd like to add is about the case.
Often cases come with shit fans that will perform decently and be noisy, you can get a 5 pack Arctic F12 pwm for 25€ (5€ each) and I can tell you from personal experience they're quiet enough to never bother you untill you reach 60/70% of the speed (then they'll be audible, but not annoying) and the airflow will be better too.
Never underestimate how much good airflow can change your components temps, and always keep in mind not only GPU and CPU need cooling, but also VRMs on your motherboard and all its integrated chips, storage and RAM too.
Pretty excellent guide, nothing insanely pricy but also not a budget build, I'd say the best value for high end PC.
4:14 this, and same. Always function over form for me. I don’t care if it’s darker than Darth Vader’s sh*t as long as it performs like Darth Vader.
I'll throw a recommendation out for Silicon Power. Never had an issue with their RAM or SSD's. That said G.Skill gets my money based on warranty replacing a DDR3 kit 8 years later no questions asked when one stick started failing. Great Customer Service gets my $$$.
I have no need for RGB, or clear windows, but after looking at the upcoming Fractal cases…I am thinking, Why shouldn’t PC’s be reasonably sized to fit on a desk, look aesthetically pleasing and perform well/ reliably?…They should, at these prices. Guess I will wait to see some reviews.
I was able to cool my 7800x3d with a ID-Cooling XE-224 XTS, which is a $27 air cooler and peak temps only reach 60-70 for me under stress
Pretty much exactly what I just bought (and still to assemble!). 7800X3D; Deepcool AK400 ZERO DARK cooler (nearly went for the AK620 before finding this one, which should be ample for the 7800X3D -- also was a bit concerned about massive coolers flexing the motherboard!); 4070 Ti Super (Palit JetStream: which came out top for quietness in Techtesters round-up and very high OC capability (though I probably won't indulge)); MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk mobo; TEAMGROUP T-Create Expert 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory; TEAMGROUP MP34 4 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 3.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive (went for Gen 3 for the DRAM cache; and plenty fast enough for gaming); Corsair RM850e (2023) 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply; Fractal Design Meshify 2 Compact TG Dark Tint ATX Mid Tower Case.
No RGB! And I also went slightly darker than you with black RAM (I think your white sticks might stick out a bit); however I now find that the black ones seem to have sold out. Mostly looking forward to Cyberpunk!
i personally think 7800x3d doesn't make a significant difference in gaming performance compared to 7700(65W). my current rig is a 7500F with 1.5 years old 4070ti, my next build is planned to be a 7700 with 4070tis or wait for gen 5000
What testing software do you use and what settings show the CPU, RAM D3D12 and other items?
is there a video that i can follow along so i can build it?
I'm waiting for that 9600x to drop :O I'm tempted to get 9700x... 6 cores is so 2012 >:3
the prices on these might drop but I also rarely compile large code bases etc
Thank you.
The 650 Watt PSU for the least expensive build makes me feel nervous.
Funny how i got the exact specs (naming of the parts except for my motherboard's "b650m gaming wifi" and my cpu cooler being watercooled) that is in this video, just the brands are all different
Montech Air 903 Base looks nice in White.
I am waiting for end of 2024 for newer stuff review
I probably go ryzen 9 7900x3d cuz I want multitasking with many differents games (I mean gacha games at once) on the background and one main game on your main monitor!
also for the nvme I go with acer gm7000 or fx900 pro, prices vary a lot and mostly they are 130-135. btw right now Solidigm P44 Pro is like 135$ that's my choice.
also you can go 7900xt instead of 4070 ti super! but choose whatever you want between the two.
For anyone buying this build, I purchased that team group memory kit a few months ago. It’s not compatible with AMD. The motherboard vendor should have a compatibility list on their website of all memory that works.
Interesting. I checked the Amazon listing and it specifically states "Intel XMP 3.0 & AMD Expo Compatible".
@@danielowentech you’re 100% correct, but it wouldn’t post with expo enabled. And when I checked gigabytes website it wasn’t listed as being compatible. It was very annoying honestly. But I bought a different kit for about $10 more and it has worked flawlessly
The thumbnail misspells "compromises"
Well…he is a math teacher 😅
Lol! Now I'm debating if I should leave it
@@danielowentech I'd leave it personally lol
Built a PC for my daughter this past weekend using the same case in white but man that Micro ATX choice of motherboard is gonna look stupid in there.
Should've bought new Lian Li DAN A3-mATX or ASUS AP201 for the same price :P
I really think AMD needs to drop pricing on the 7900 xt and especially the xtx. I do have the xtx, it is a great card but if a 4080s is less than $100 more, it's a no brainer. The 4070 ti super vs 7900 xt is a closer competition, but I think most people are willing to pay the difference to get DLSS and better RT. AMD needs to improve fsr if they want to compete without having to slash prices, not everyone care about RT that much, but upscaling is in every game now.
Good builds 👍💯
This cpu cooler is not enough. I would took at least 240 water cooler from artctic or even 360 if case allows for it. And also I would change those fans for something better with good fan hub. Preinstalled fans are mostly bad. Aside from that everything looks good

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, ASUS B650-E TUF Gaming, G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit, Computer Build Bundle at MICROCENTER for 479.92 as of today/s price
I spend more than I needed to on my mb but not much more. I wanted futureproofing for 9000 and 10000 series ryzen and so far my b650e taichi lite is looking real good for 9000 series
Ryzen 7500F $130 from Aliexpress and a 7900GRE from Newegg for $540
The vid's picture says comprises, not compromises. It's also not spelled comprimises.
I've been rocking a 2080 since realse, is it time to upgrade or shall I wait for 50 series?
I just build 7700 + MSI B650m GAMING PLUS WIFI + D5 6400mhz and this Mobo let me OC and UV 7700 at stock PBO 65W + Curve Optimize -65 an all cores +200mhz Now 7700 in CB r23 in MT gives me 19270pts all cores boost to 5025mhz at 62c and in ST 1960pts at 5500mhz which practically give me 7700x 140W at 65W aka 90W at full load! But when I used PBO 140W CPU boost to 5250mhz-5300mhz all cores at 92c-93c and CB r23 gave me 19920pts!
So I can recommend MSI Mobos like this one or Mortar WiFi which gives you Type C 20gbps! But ZERO RAM issues! I put 6400mhz and they are flying!
Yea but motherboard probably won't matter to a 7800x3d it only pulls 88watt max not like the 7950x you used for comparison
Daniel you sly dog, no rgb?? Lol just teasing, I am the same way, I love simplicity.
Hey guys, my PC Specs are:
I5 12400f
MSI pro b660 wifi ddr4
Delta force 3600 cl16 32gb ram
3tb storage
Thermal take smart bm2 750w
Igame Rtx 3060ti dual fan
Which I bought secondhand from shop here in Malaysia for about 530 ish USD. All the parts still under warranty 1 to 2 years.
Now I'm thinking to upgrade my GPU to Rtx 3070ti igame Vulcan OC for about 138 USD after I trade in my Rtx 3060ti from the same computer shop. The RTX 3070ti they give warranty till 2027.
I know most of you guys will come at my neck for going to 8 gigs vram but I'm playing at 1080p with 240hz. Plus it's hard to find the Rx 6800 or 6800xt even 3080 10gb will cost more in Malaysia. After considering the price after I trade my old GPU and the warranty, am I taking an L or W?
L, better upgrade to 14900k, 30 series GPU outdated
Hardware Unboxed are excellent benchmarkers for everything except Motherboards, one thing is place a 4-core CPU with a 4090 to research his overall real performance and another way different and absurd it to test a 16-core CPU with a 100$ Board.
Should we buy all more expensive than we need because budget boards throttle 600$ CPUS? that just confuses rookie builders, that information is useless.
When you started trying to save money, you went crazy off the rails and didn’t even mention the 7900 gre, which stomps the gtx 7700
GIGABYTE B650 EAGLE AX is $144 with a $5 coupon off on NEWEGG and the board has WIFI. Yes the board is ATX not MICRO.
I pawned off my 7900 gre to my little brother and went with a 4070 ti Super. I feel a little dirty, ngl.
They are basically the same card lol
Were you having issues with it or just wanted the extra performance of the 4070 Ti Super?
The misspelling in your thumbnail is driving me insane, even though its just the thumbnail haha
Want to update but holding off for now its excruciating 😔damned if you do or dont just want play over summer as my 3080 kicked the bucket and im now on my 1080 😭
can you please do one with EU prices?
Add ~20% tax to these prices you'll have EU pricing.
Im new to pc gaming, but wow, pc gaming is too much expensive
Someone had forgotten about the 7900xt/xtx
At that price point you dont wanna lose out on DLSS and Raytracing. AMD can’t compete at the high end.
@@BeGodly Especially DLSS, FSR looks like crap in comparison.
If you live near a microcenter, it can be done for 1000.
thumbnail is wrong, it says comprises
Just finished building this exact PC build (case and all) before the video uploaded. But went with 360 aio at 70$ instead. Great video overall.
I want a box (don't have to be black) whitout windows, but they don't make those anymore =(
"They" do. Nearly all case manufacturers have a few "windowless" models.
why no 7900 gre over the 4070 super
Better ray tracing and better upscaling for $50 more, well worth it. AMD owners only argument is “VRAM” when 12GB is more than enough for 1440p
@@WhoIsLost - VRAM amount is more about the size and number of textures and models being loaded than the screen resolution (higher screen resolution mainly requires more memory _bandwidth,_ not size). Doesn't matter if you're playing at 1920x1080 or 4k, if you want to load the highest-resolution textures and models, it's going to take up basically the same amount of VRAM.
12 GB is still OK for most current games (except a couple of very high end ones), but it's going to lead to stuttering in the near future, because it won't be able to keep all the highest-res textures in VRAM, regardless of what screen you have.
@@WhoIsLost Better raytracing dosnt make it good ray tracing. The 4070 ti super is still horrible at RT and basically unusable.
@@Dempig still better than an AMD card
@@WhoIsLost Unless you got a 4090 this entire gen was a waste.
Raising awareness again on the PSU's. 1000W PSU's are not hugely more expensive over 850W, and in return they provide more wattage for future big upgrades. Having more wattage headroom also means lower noise levels and potentially improved efficiency (often peaks at 40-50% of the maximal load). So if your budget allows it, consider a 1000W PSU instead of a 850W one.
Oh i did not know it also imroves efficiency! I have a 7800X3d with 6800 nothing else that uses alot of power. Should I be okay?
just stop it.
Do you have proof on that?
Wrong, that's entirely pointless.
At that point the CPU or GPU may be louder than PSU. 50% use for a gold psu is more than enough (aiming lower is diminishing returns), 7800x3d + 4080 system require not more than 400w most of the time. And the power consumption of not ridiculouosly priced tier (4090) hasn't increased in recent years, even dropped (4080 is more efficient than 3080 for example)
Bro is letting the 7800x3d get cooled by the peerless assassin… rip cpu or cpu performance due to undervolt
Why is 7900 xtx not a good choice? I was suggested a pc with almost exact same config except the GPU. HELP
Generally speaking at that tier, the 7900 xtx is a beast and outclass Nvidia with the same price IF we are talking about pure performance and Vram size. However, if you are gonna spend 1500-2000$ on a gaming rig, you might as well wanna try Ray Tracing. If the notion of using ray tracing ever hit your mind, ignore AMD as similarly priced Nvidia cards deliver sublime RT performance.
bc I would always buy a 4080 Super for 950-1000$ at that point. (XTX is on average like 5% faster than 4080S in raster, so virtually no noticeable difference at all. but its WAY slower in heavy RT/PT, like WAY WAY slower) 16gb VRAM is enough espeically if you play at 4k resolution, you will use upscaling in the intensive (so pretty much all new and upcoming) games anyway and DLSS does this a lot better than FSR. You also have better Frame Generation (you have literal Tensor cores, so actual hardware in your GPU, that do stuff like DLSS upscaling and FG) and you have Ray Reconstruction, which is great when you use heavy RT/PT. And this is exactly where my next point is - if i pay 900$, 1000$ or more for a GPU, I want ALL the freaking bells and whistles. I personally couldnt be happy when I pay 900$ for a XTX, I play in 4k, I want the best visual experience and it cant do, it cant do any high RT and let alone PT, well it can, but really bad, and I would have to use FSR Performance to be even close to playable and FSR Performance just looks bad, DLSS Performance at 4k usually looks GOOD.
also power draw is a lot better. 4080 Super usually draws 250 watts, sometimes up to 280 watts, the XTX draws usually 350 watts. and then there is resell value - you will always find better paying buyers if you plan to sell your Nvidia GPU bc you want to upgrade to the next gen for example. Its extremely difficult to find a buyer for your old AMD card, bc most ppl just wont ever buy AMD. Nvidia has like 88% market share at the moment iirc.
in the low end, AMD is the king but as soon as you go into the 500$, or especially 600$ and up range I wouldnt buy an AMD GPU. I would gladly pay 100-200$ more for the Nvidia counterpart. their features are worth even more than that. usually you have a GPU for a few years, so paying 100$ more once is nothing, when you decide between a 900$ and a 1000$ GPU. Gaming CPU? yes, Ryzen x3D CPU, no question! but high end GPU? nope, Nvidia is just the better choice imo.
and just to add - I personally wouldnt buy either card, because 50 series will be out end of this year. at least 5080 and 5090. I will def buy a 5090 from Nvidia and a CPU from AMD (x3D) bc there AMD has the crown, at least at the moment.
@@DELTA9XTC unfortunately despite the fact 90 class cards this generation (and probably the next one as well) are miles ahead of anything below that they are not a good buy in most cases. due to their size and power consumption they are very unreliable. a friend of mine owned a top of the line msi supreme x 4090 which died after just a month of use despite him being very careful with the cables and placing a robust support for the card. and a lot of repair guys on youtube are telling us that 4090 can't last for long due to their enormous power. so no futureproofing with 90 class cards unfortunately
7900 XTX is usually only $70 cheaper than 4080 Super. Only $30 at today’s prices. So considering electricity costs, it’s not even cheaper
It’s insane you took that long to just offer up AMD GPUs as a way to drop the price of the build. This is literally option #1. Drop that overpriced 4070 Ti Super for a 7900 GRE (which trades blows in raster) and you immediately save over $250. That’s it. That’s the build.
7600x and a 7900 GRE is all you need. You will kill 1440p with ease.
Me like a crusher.
The stabilty issues are a thing of the past. Simple bios updates cure them. The CPU wasn't unstable. The motherboard manufacturers were overclocking them too high. Please stop dissing Intel when there was nothing wrong with their product. My 14900k will kill any Ryzen fast. Game over.
Meanwhile prices in india after taxes 😭 -> 7600 + 4070 ti super build costed me around 1800$
we all know why.... lol.. Tell MODI to stop the transport of tech to RUSSIA.
Wouldn't the Intel Core i5-12600K be a better cpu then the Ryzen 7600? It's 173 on amazon.
13600k better, it's better than 12900k, imagine that
*than...
So you're telling us there's a chance
7:40 yes but Cyberjunk 1977 is a very boring & poorly optimized game to center a PC build around.
when ima gone see best workstation? tired of those AMD CPUs
Cant crush games even with my 7800x3d and 3090 when games are so unoptimized these days. Stutter fest everywhere.
Is it really a gaming PC if it doesn’t have RGB though? 😂
Honestly, 7600 + 7900xt is such good value
I would never buy an AMD GPU
The ultimate pc build is to buy a console ❤ 😎
A PC with a 4070Ti Super runs circles around the consoles.
00:35 keep in mind jayz made a video talking about how problematic X3D is with indie games
I'm guessing you're referring to his "Why I switched back from AMD to Intel" video? That's over 6 months old, so the information is outdated. Plus, he used a 7950x3d which uses 2 CCD-s (2*8 cores), one of which has the extra 3d cache glued ontop, and that did have some issues allocating threads correctly. It should be the same also with 7900x3d (2*6 cores). However, the 7800x3d uses 1 CCD (1*8 cores) so no such problems exist for it.
And, J2cents is mainly known as a water-cooling guy from ages ago, and not as much a CPU/GPU guy (although yes, he has partaken in some extreme OC with ln2 and such).
@@renerant so 7950 and 7900 are still having these issues
@@KN-592 I really don't know. Windows scheduling has (supposedly) become better for both AMD (their 3d cache CPUs) and Intel (p-cores and e-cores), but I can not say for certain. If the supposed problem exists, then the solution is easy - just a few clicks to make the weirdly behaving game executable run on the preferred cores.
Seems to be moot point anyway, as the 7900x3d is pointless (it has only 6 vs 8 cores with the 3d cache) and if you get the 7950x3d you're unlikely to use it to game with such titles which would exhibit that anomalous behavior...
@@renerant thx 🧠 💣
sorry that will not crush games in 4k all maxed out
7800X3D is a waste of money for a 4070 Ti Super, save yourself $200 and get a 7600 instead for the same FPS in 1440p and 4K. Or put the difference towards a 4080 and get even better performance.
I show the 7600 as my first recommended cut to reduce cost.
@@danielowentech this is the internet, people comment before watching the entie 24 minute video 🤣
"save yourself $200 and get a 7600 instead for the same FPS in 1440p and 4K"
In what world does that get the same fps, especially in 1440p? HUB did a video on this and its only close to being accurate at 4K. And if you decide to play a fps game then kiss goodbye to that altogether.
@@chy.0190 HUB did the video using a 4090, and they cherry picked 2 very badly optimized games that exhibit terrible CPU bottlenecks, plus CS2 which then only gets you 350 FPS instead of 450.
HUB also did a Video a while back of a 7800X3D + 4070 vs 7600 + 4070 Ti, and the latter system beat the first in pretty much every game that isn't e-sports, and Daniel clearly stated in the beginning he is designing the build mainly for single player titles
Lol this guy
Your headline is "best gaming PC Build". If you are building the "best" gaming PC, it must be built for 4k. Anything less is not the "best". Also, "getting the job done", and saving money are not appropriate considerations when building the "best" PC.
