Should test midrangers from different companies to see which one survives it
Zach should totally do this, he should take midrangers and combine them all in one video.
He can especially last few yrs but atm he's kinda busy building his EV. Maybe he'll be back at testing more phones once he finished building his EV
Like Galaxy S21 FE
I totally support your idea.
no
3:10 What is Magisk doing there??
I don't see it
probably related to carrier unlock or something, but good observation
OnePlus has basically cracked the code for how to disappoint one of the best developing community.
Because Oneplus already Settle.
Imo they settled after the OnePlus 6/6t.
-oneplus 6 user.
just how zack cracked that oneplus he tested
@@Patient_Lion_BS exactly. OP 6 was my last OnePlus.
@@Patient_Lion_BS Wrong, after the 7 Pro/7T Pro.

I laughed way too hard at "Elon's Twitter" 🤣
Would it be possible to add durability tests against dust and water? We all know some manufacturer won't get IP ratings, but i think it's important to know how much can the phone survive in "messy" environment
He does dust testing on foldable phones. Doing the same test on the normal phones seems little to no effect on those (unless the the structure of the phone is so bad dust can easily enter)
@@HanxoHaxashi I think it would be pretty nice to see how resistant the phone is to submersion in water, sand, and semi solid things likes grease and stuff for people who do a lot of outdoor work
Zack is all aesthetics and nothing else. He does the same video he has always done, and that does not tell us anything about the phone.
Example: If he took any of it seriously he'd compare how much force the screen takes to scratch - there were lots of improvements in front glass tech - while, yes all of them scratch at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7, some might require 35g of pressure and some other might require 70.
@@rishabhrawat7856 I agree. he should replace his bullshit flame test with that instead. and also add in a waist high drop test on solid concrete.
@@Ezio470 you're in youtube, there's so many channels that do that
7:19 Edward Scissorhands lol 😂
It would be hilarious to see how the frosting screws up a display (or like a timelapse kinda thing, to see how the display slowly becomes illegible).
I'm viewing this on a frosted/matte screen, it's much better than a normal screen because it doesn't reflects light.
Not one illegible, but also unusable as it now sands you fingers.
3:28 Not gonna lie they got me.
Hitman before: *Eliminated targets, followed given orders*
Hitman now: *Takes care of his wife, builds an EV from scratch and destroys phones*
Lmao😂
you need to eliminate stress cant let it build
Xiaomi 12 vanilla version is actually smaller at 6.28", it'll also be interesting to see if the smaller stature compromises the device's structural integrity compared to the larger ones.
Or will it actually be tougher?
The smaller one would be denser so it would survive better too
"Dad, when will the world end?"
"It'll end when a phone scratches at level 7 and deeper grooves at level 8"
AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Excellent comment!!!🤣😭😭🤣
Love Xiaomi phones but with the changes AT&T have been making i cant use them anymore and the other carriers suck around where i live, had to switch from my poco F2 pro to a oneplus 9 pro, i much preferred Miui over Oxygen os , much more customizable with a less boring aesthetic than oxygen os
MIUI Is trash,It work so bad, terrible software,Oxygen Is much more better
@@vladimirorottoinculen7156 One plus is trash
@@destroyinghaters nah
@@vladimirorottoinculen7156 one plus fell off like 3 years ago

at some point you should invest in a fancy tester that can repeat the flexing with the exact same strain on the phone for even better cross-phone comparisons.
Exactly my thoughts!
Up
They aren't realistic though. These are realistic tests with a humans natural force. Those machines can never replicate the exact pressure and placement of a human.
It also kinda kills the fun in watching it happen. I'd much rather watch a phone get crushed by hands than a machine.
@@RealityClubX your first point is complete nonsense, but yes, it would ruin the fun a bit...
I think a realistic brut strength approach is what the mob wants. Gloves, it what he needs to invest in. Will just remove that, tiny little sliver, like a little Lego, from my thumb 👍🤔
That popping sound was probably charging port breaking, you should test if the phone's charging works after a bend test.
I would love to see that paste used on a screen as well as a back panel. As it is I use matte screen protectors and I think it would be neat to see if a screen could become matte just by using the paste.
Smartphone screens are covered in oleophobic material, probably made out of Teflon, this is what gives you that smooth scrolling experience when the phone is brand new. To be able to etch glass, this layer would have to be removed first, using some pure alcohol like isopropyl alcohol for example, or something else that can dissolve Teflon.
Would it work as thermal paste as well?
@@Zendarkos there are exactly 0 solvents that can dissolve teflon at ambient temperature.
May I request a Durability test of the Realme GT 2 pro.... It has 2 versions (a polycarbonate back on the green and white colors and a frosted glass back on the Black and blue colors)
It would be informative to compare them both
It would love to see how it tested on other UA-camrs even though there are that already made the test
Checking out if the "paper" green or white could survive in Zack's hands, might be fun to watch actually!
This is honestly the nicest design I've seen in recent years. I really wish Xiaomi would come to the US.
You won't get privacy as much as iPhone and SAMSUNG. Perhaps, Xiaomi may get banned just like Huawei.
Its UI sucks. Nowhere near OneUI and iOS
They come installed with even more bloatware than Samsung has on their phones, but it terms of hardware, they're phenomenal for the price. My dad has a Redmi Note 10 Pro (costs £219) and the pictures taken on it are almost flagship quality. The battery is outstanding as well.
@@subhojit2003 one ui is literally the best ui on any smartphone, comparable with only iOS, this Chinese trash ui is way too bad
Xiaomi have a habit of increasing there prices abroad and for lower spec , here they are cheaper and higher spec so more value . I have the 11t pro and that 120w charger makes a difference
7:54 My back!!
The OnePlus 10 pro really is a disappointment isn't it?
As usual bugs with os.. Nothing new..
@@roninr8199 I've never owned a OnePlus and I was waiting for the 10 pro, I think I'll just keep waiting
Durability and software wise yeah kinda
Two things it does really well though: charging speed (not 150W like the newest OnePlus devices but still fast) and battery life (beats the S22 Ultra). Other than the improved cameras I'd say it's a disappointment otherwise.
Oneplus has been a disappointment ever since they sold out at around the 7-8ish era
Parabéns pelo sucesso do canal.
Manda esse xiaomi pra mim 😅
I love how Zack forgets to remove the screen protectors before starting his tests 😀
I always wonder if that's on purpose, or he just doesn't check 🤔
He doesn't forget. He does it to show the hardness of the screen protector. Plastics have a huge range of hardness. Some plastics get fairly close to as hard as mineral glass.
I think that it is to give praise to companies who pre-install them.
6:02 seems like a dumb feature to hide the clock in the notifications bar if the clock is also on the screen
I think the flame test is important in case someone drops it in a fire place. Or has it hovering near a BBQ. It's good to know that open flame takes time to hurt it rather than immediately combust.
The only combustible part of the phone is the battery. He is pointing a lighter at a point on the screen. An open fireplace/bbq is much hotter and heat spread out and dropping a phone in it will almost always result in a broken phone.
@æ that will obviously happen, but it’s not really a problem. And every phone does this, unless they’re not waterproof at all and don’t even have their screens glued on.
no, flame test is useless, and that's ok
Or a plumber resting his blow lamp on it.
no shit, the whole test is pretty bullshit.
scratch test ? all phones scratch at 6-7 unless sapphire
flame test? plain stupid
scratching the sides? obviously will scratch no matter the material...
4:11
best sounds ever 😂
I have been using mine Redmi Note 7 for 3 years now. I never had any issues and I plan to keep it until it dies.
This phone failed the bend test, and mine is a bit curved, but still I never had any issues with this. I have dropped this phone a few dozen times.
I am currently running Ubuntu Touch on it, and I couldn't be happier with a phone that cost me new ~200€, without any stupid phone carrier contracts.
Dude, you have low standards.
nice
maybe try some books on it for awhile to unbend it
@@mohamedmostafa-qj5mx 😂
but miui still shit until.this day so many little bugs, im not complain because they're cheaper than others

Seeing an iPhone being frosted would make a really neat video. Not sure many would be brave enough to try it for themselves though.
my cousin be like when he says "let me try your new phone"
Would love to see the etching paste put to the test. You should do it at the top of your hummer windscreen. Give yourself a built in sun visor :)
Always a good knowledge a about durability of a previous and a flagship level phone by you sir...keep it up...
the Mi 12 series is one of the best looking phones to come out this year. it is simple, elegant and classy.
But everything else about the phone apart from the display is not the best value for money for $999.
no MicroSD slot and 3.5 jack is a huge NO NO from me.
@@VisionaryTech but in India it just around $685.
@@Freestylah this is a lost war. Smartphone companies just dumped SD slot and 3.5 jack, just to push their Bluetooth headphones and bigger storage models.
Zack, durability test the One Plus 10 pro (the international version as I think the version you tested was the chinese version)
Would love to see the quad speaker setup they claim in the next teardown video..😄
it actually has, and I was even able to notice it as I look closely to the speaker grilles.
Two twitters and two woofers. But it didn't make any difference, I have done try it.
@@AminNazari666 One thing I also noticed is that it isn't that loud compared to my Xiaomi 11T here. However, I like the quality. Very balanced on both sides and the bass punches very well. It's just it isn't that loud which is a bit underwhelming.

I've been watching these durability test videos for so damn long and it still hurts every time ☹️
The metal on metal scratching hurts my brain.
Exactly , I don't get the propose of this test. Metal is metal and there is no need to scratch it
@@Daniel-iy1ed how would you know it's metal without scratching it first
@Duka Duka
One scratch on one side should be enough. Plus we have magnets 😁

You should definitely try the frosting toothpaste thing. I wanna turn my phone's glass back into frosted one... 😅
Got my JRE knife this week!! It cuts well. Thanks!
Not many phones are willing to bend over backwards for you... One plus says I got you bro 😂
No matter how famous Jerry is, he stays true to his original youtube content "durability test of phones"
New "Art class with Zach" with Glass etching. I'm here for it
I’d enjoy seeing what affect frosting glass yourself has on a smartphone
Definitely get the frosted glass kit. It would be awesome to see how well that works.if you don't mind destroying something you could try to do it super fine on the screen. I've heard of textured glass screen protectors that reduce glare. I don't know if I would use it on a phone but I can think of several other things I could use it for.
I don't pay attention to a single thing you say until you say *scratches at a level 6 with deeper grooves at a level 7...*

I want to get the Xaomi 12 pro , can you give me the go ahead?
@@michealscott6156 well what are u looking in a phone , i wanted something fairly priced with good cameras and hardware and i got that with 12 pro.
From my personal use its a smooth phone but Battery isnt an all day battery but that insane fast charging makes it up for it if u are able to use it.
I do not game on my phone but at heavier tasks it might overheat a bit so if u wanna game on it for long time it might overheat so keep that in mind.
The Cameras are excellent atleast for normal daily use.
Again the phone is smooth good daily driver but keep in mind the forementioned issues. Ask me anything else if u are interested still or have Questions about it
You should add a new bend test involving your massive biceps
Yes please try that Toothpaste Trick really excited to see it 😃
Zack, why isn't there a Mi11 ultra teardown coming? :(
the other important thing to consider is how many Android OS upgrades will it get? 1, 2, 3?
the Xiaomi should be string... the guy in charge of that division: Yan Kesheng graduated from Hefei University of Technology with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Machinery Manufacturing and Repair in July 1992.
I would love to see you do retro durability and tear downs. Like say the original razor.
Even better the nokia bricks.

I think it would be cool to see how the etching stuff works. You could try to make a glassy back phone matte
06:20 I would love to see this, as well as trying it on some other things like plastic, metal or even polycarbonate. Great video idea, could be a tutorial too.
OnePlus Fold looks awesome
How about water resistance test with pressure stimulating deep water. Salt water too.
Have u tried making a cool shattered skin for phones or make one where the shattered pieces have fallen off showing the circuits behind now that would be intresting to see instead of a plain color or clear
I use Xiaomi so nice 2018 and I will use the Xiaomi 13 when it launches.
Currently I use a Mi11.
In my opinion Xiaomi is hard under appreciated 👍
This is the only Xiaomi flagship that looks good from bezel perspective.
"bEzELs"... People that care about bezels are the reason that cellphones can't be used one handed without accidental touches. They care about how it looks more than being able to actually use the phone.
@@littlejackalo5326 I missed the part where that's my problem
@@littlejackalo5326 BTW you can hide notch and get more bezels
The alu scratching with the boxcutter always gives me goosebumps and shiver. Like scratching an old school schoolboard with your nails.
I'd like to see more midrange phones too.
Why don't you do the durability and teardown of ASUS Zenfone 8
This is the 30th time I'm requesting for this video from last 2 months
why is this 5k?
Make a video on the durability of the new iPad Air 5 2022. There have been a lot of complaints on its build quality.
This XAIOMI phone indeed survived!
I love how Xiaomi can give you an IR blaster but not a goddamn headphone jack, i will take the headphone jack over the IR blaster anyday
I'm impressed the Mi 11 did better at the bending test than the 12 Pro
Please buy some glass etching cream used to etch glass. Keep up the home work.
Idk why but zack’s durability test’s are so well done and when you hear his voice it feels so calm!
Can we get higher precision scratch tests? for example mohs hardness scale of 6.2, 6.5, 6.7? It would be interesting to see becayse all these phones indeed scratch at level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7, but they all use different types of glass that claim to scratch less than others
at this point its just a meme he does it for the views not to really test the screen
The xiaomi 12 users say it has quad speakers, while the 12s only has dual speakers - would be interesting to find out more during the teardown (if there's gonna be any) - and how easy/difficult it would be to repair the device
08:09 - My guess is, if the popping sound is repeating (sounding pretty much the same each time), it could be the sticky stuff holding the battery? Each bend disconnects the surfaces of the components, and then when the bend is relaxed, the gluey part re sticks, so to speak... 🤔🤔🤔
"Come hang out with me on Elons Twitter" hahahaha 😎🇬🇧
I find it hard to watch these "durability" tests. Some of those phones are quite costly.
He can afford them, don't worry.
@@翠星石-t6o That's not the point
I currently have a Xiaomi Note 9 Pro with all the bells and whistles I want (bar-one): dual sim & SD card slots, IR blaster, FM radio, large battery, 3.5mm jack and USB C. My last phone was the LG V20 (V10 prior to that) - all still working well. Tough as nails too!
So my next phone will need to have all of the above.
But cost less than $400Aud.
Chances are that it will be another Xiaomi as no one else comes close spec or cost wise.
So I'd like to see you test a few more of lower cost phones like this.
Hey what's up Jerry I've been waiting for this video nevertheless great video
I hope you and your family doing well
A wish to get s22 ultra 😁
Use the glass etching stuff on the phone screen
The weakness that occurs in a device is caused by the thin frame because the screen is curved, so this affects the durability of the device
Wtf are u on about! curved glass has much better structural strenght
Love the new clear Knife, received it last week and now I always carry it with me its cool and very sturdy.
4:42 I peal a potato like this
But
Jerry peal a cell phone like this
So many years of development of gorilla glass (3,4,5,6, victus etc) and still scratches at level 6 and 7.
As I am about to move to a different brand (from Samsung), this is the first phone that caught my eye. I love how subtle and non-flambouyant the camera piece is. If my local service provider would have this available I might actually get it.
Check on the miui before changing from one ui
I would suggest you stick to samsung. Mi is notoriously bad with its ui.
@@sriduttlanka6475 I would love to honestly but the S series from where I am ships with exynos only. And I friggin hate exynos to the core.

Can you test the north American OnePlus 10 pro with a new bend test? Thanks!
I'm on OnePlus 9 pro ... really wanted that 10 pro though...i would cry like a baby if i had to test my phone like that
I got my Xiaomi 12 Pro last month and the only issue I have is that it reboots when I go to Google Drive updates first thing in the morning. Other than that and its subpar battery capacity, it's a great phone. It also helps that Xiaomi gave me a free 43" Android smart TV with my preorder.
I just bought this phone. If the durability of my previous xiaomi phone, the mi note 10 pro, is anything to go off of, I will not be disappointed. That thing took many a fall onto concrete with nothing but the included gummy case. Not even a scratch up until the last drop before I got this one which resulted in the _back_ glass cracking to hell but still staying intact and leaving the phone otherwise undamaged. Still works just fine.
I actually tripped my breaker by plugging that charger into the same power strip as my PC, TV, and a mini fridge and a bunch of fans lmao. It was just enough to push it over.
Edit: At least in my personal experience with this phone so far, the durability in every day life is decent, no cracks or shattering even being dropped onto concrete on accident once.
Jerry, I cannot agree with you, Huawei P30pro has already knows this battery percentage feature about 3 years ago.
