I have never heard the flat 3rd curl theory. I have seen it in practice when working out solos but never realized the relationship. Thanks... this is very useful information.
Im just starting to dabble with some lead licks, and found this extremely helpful. Also really appreciate the way you refer to scale degrees in relation to the root, instead of simply referencing frets, or notes. Cheers!
It's really great that you added the theory part to the end! It really really cemented this piece of knowledge more, because it doesn't feel arbitrary anymore! Thanks!
Amazing little intricacy that will impact my playing dramatically! Thx Justin! I can see the passion exuding out of you! Your an amazing person! Sharing your wealth of knowledge with the world! Think about that! The whole wide world!
I just found your channel and you basically have everything here. I am going to spend a lot of time on your channel going through videos with guitar in my hands. Thank you very much! I love your videos.
Many thanks for the super thanks and supporting the channel. It means a lot. Cheers 😊 | Richard_close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide & Approved Teacher www.justinguitar.com
Thanks again for another great lesson, Justin. They're all greatly appreciated. I personally love to hear the theory behind what you teach and it looks like many others do too!!
Simply another great lesson. Quality of video, sound and, of course, explanation is outstanding compared to average youtube tutorials. The latter is the reason why I am a subscriber since the first hour although English is not my native tongue. Keep on! Rainer
+AJ Gray It's so common that we don't hear it as out of tune. Maybe two centuries ago this would have been regarded as a 'mistake'. I'm not sure though.
omg that's awesome! you got it man! i love the blues! i love to hear it and totally to play it but you... you're the man!!! mostly this videos where they talking to much are boring and you sit with your guitar on the screen and just think... shut up and play i wanna learn to play the song :D but you!! i like to listen because you can explain very well!!! go on that way justin you have a lot of fans and i'm proud to be one! and if i ever come to UK i want to jam with you!!! :) Cheers man i hope to see you soon Kev
I would probably point out that the flat third is also the 7th of the IV chord (in this case C is the 7th of D7 - DF#AC) so then when you go back to the root chord, you can resolve a little using the curl, (nearly) back to the major third. Nice tutorial man, I'm a jazz saxophonist really so that's how we'd handle it, nice thinking about the blues too as they're the basis for jazz :)
Great lesson thanks, been putting in curls for a long time now but that's the first time someone has explained the major/minor third thing. BTW I've seen plenty of funny "Guitar faces" but your one at 7:50 onwards is hilarious. Looks like you're having trouble on the toilet :D
Hey Justin and JustinGuitar viewers, I have a question. What course you recommend for a guitarist who has been playing for a year? Can play E and A and C barre chord shapes, knows blues, pentatonic, major scale, ACDC and Metallica solos and likes blues and rock. I don't mind if it's not Justin's. I know Justin has an intermediate course but I think I might need another one to follow. Greetings from Australia P.S Great Channel and Videos you have been running mate.
+Anjali Dapurkar if you are interested in theory - check the stuff from the guy named Michael New - it is not guitar specific but really breaks down the theory for beginners very well (Sorry Justin, I hope you're ok with this :)
+Anjali Dapurkar - I've been playing for 2 years and can assure you there is enough on Justin's website to take you further than you are. His intermediate course will add rhythm patters, the rest of the CAGE chord system as well as triad shapes. In addition, there are at least 100 licks from various blues artists, a basic Jazz intro course, finger style course, at least 200 songs...and on...and on...and on. If you've only been playing a year--and have gone through all of that--I can assure you, you didn't get it all. I watched over 1200 lesson, by a very popular UA-cam teacher. It was great. But, started with Justin's beginner course, lesson 1. I learned something new with almost every lesson. You'll quickly realize, the more you know, the more you don't. Good luck.

I didn't expect to enjoy the Blues course as much as I am. Thank you Justin you opened me up to playing so many different styles!
I've been doing this for years but never understood it until now.....thanks a lot!
It's really great that you added the theory part to the end! It really really cemented this piece of knowledge more, because it doesn't feel arbitrary anymore! Thanks!
Great lesson. These little details make a big difference. Thank you.

Thanks for that little bit of theory Justin, a few more pieces of the puzzle just fell into place. Good work!
Oh that's very cool. That such a simple little thing can sound so 'Bluesy'. Love it and thanks.
great teacher, thanks Justin

This is one of my favourite things about the blues. It also works well with the minor 7, even though I have no idea why.
Maybe because, like with the minor third, you are bending up towards a note in the major scale (if you are playing a major chord there).
Yeeeeees !! Last week I was searching for a lesson specifically about this.
I couldnt found it, until now. : )
Thanks again for another great lesson, Justin. They're all greatly appreciated. I personally love to hear the theory behind what you teach and it looks like many others do too!!

that last bit reminded me a bit of delta blues. Could we get some lessons on Delta Blues Justin?
Thanks Justin , is there any other lesson about this ? I think getting the right accent needs more training ,what should I do rather than this ?
I like the musicgasm face when you curl Justin. haha
gr8 as per usual
It may theoretically wrong but it sounds so right!

hi Justin can u please do a video on whole tone and augmented scales and arpeggios? thanks for all the lessons
That was great

awesome lesson! Wouldn't be technically considered a 'sharp' third since we're raising the pitch of the third UP (sharp) not down (flat)
👍 As always.
Lovely axe he's using. Anyone know the brand?
There's a well known adage-- "keep them wanting more..." Consider that target achieved.
Less is more... Thanks Justin

can't make 1/4 bent, it goes to C# sometimes and I can't be aware. should it be a very very small bend? in video iti looks like not too small
Get some new studio digs Justin? Looks nice.
Sabba Labba Ding Dong
nice lesson, but i have never heard a Frenchman roll an "r"
He probably meant Spanish.
+walkabout or "fränkisch" from Franken/Germany
Me neither - confusing it with Spanish, maybe? Great lesson.
the French don't roll there R's
grammatical error. seems 1'm not much of a Linguist either
That is true....
