    I’m a Packer fan but I love Jimmy Mac. Good guy and a fierce competitor. I heard he was suffering from dementia BUT they discovered that he had a compressed spine and after Neurosurgeons were able to fix it, his mind cleared up immensely. I really hope he’s doing much better today.

    I was born in Chicago and lived in Naperville, a suburb at the time of the Bear's Super Bowl win. I was bartending that day. What an amazing work day that was! I forgot that Jim McMahon went up to The Vikings.

    Jim McMahon. 25-0 as a starter for the Bears, 1984-1987. Still an NFL record for consecutive winning starts. And done in a time where you could hit the QB. Beat that, Brady.

      @@GODLETMEWINAMEN Steve Fuller started the game vs. the Dolphins due to an injury to McMahon. He had missed a few games that season and actually came into the Dolphins game very late. In football the starter gets the W or L even if he plays one snap.

    Watched this on TV with my Dad when I was a boy. Always amazed that Guliford got so open in a situation like that. And what a throw. Didn't know about the Terrell Buckley comment some have shared here. Fun memory.

    That was my first Vikings game at the old Metrodome. What a game! We were in the upper deck, South, surrounded by Green Bay fans. They were cheering alot all afternoon, until Reveiz came in and kicked the game winner, his 5th FG of the day. When he did that, it was like somebody died up there...except for our family, we were cheering big time for our Vikings!
    Thanks to my late Dad , who took us to VIKES games for years until he passed away in 2010. I hope that him & my late Mom are enjoying this year's winning team. SKOL VIKINGS.👞💥🏈🤗

      Lions fan here. I loved McMahon. After he became injury prone, I desperately wanted the Lions to pick him up as a backup. I wonder what would have happened to Chuck Long’s career had he had a teacher like McMahon.

      15 TD’s his best year passing. Never threw more than 12 TD’s any other season. Manning could do that in 3 games. Take Manning back in time and he’s still get 30 Td’s with that team.

    I met McMahon once at a watering hole near a golf club, where he played in a pro am. Definitely a unique guy.

    I remember Jim McMahon when he played for Roy High School in Utah..Losing to West High School in playoffs as a junior but winning State as a senior..Tough guy & a great competitor.

    I still can't believe we won this game LOL....I watched this from Max & Erma's @ the Park Hotel in Canton, Ohio. I went nuts lol....in fact a lot of the crowd in the game room area (lots of booths and tables, and 4 big screens showing 3 games & QB1) went crazy as well. What a great memory.

      Reminds me of the time I got invited to a Vikings playoff game. I just wanted to go for the experience of seeing NFL Football in a college stadium, never could I have imagined I would see the most iconic missed field goal of the decade 😂 the faces of Vikings fans will stick with me forever too, and the nasty things they said to me in my Charles Woodson jersey 😂

      Jim always wears sunglasses, even indoors. I met him when he backed up Favre with the Packers, and he told me that his eyes are very sensitive to light.

    As a Detroit Lions fan, much respect for Jim, great game memories in the old NFC central, and always entertaining candor.
    If Bobby Layne and Jim McMahon played during the same era they would have hung around and had some memorable parties. You could also invite Brett to the party too.

    Had to look it up to confirm my memory but Eric Guliford played in 17 games over two years for the Vikings and this was his only reception.

    probably the reason he was Favre's backup later. McMahon looked so cool with that dark mask, looked weird later that season when he wore a lighter one.
