First you want to check each wheel on the car.
Excessive curb rash? Not an easy fix
Ensure the nuts aren’t stripped / rusted
Check the tyres! Are they cracked / bulging? Feel around the back of the tyre to be sure
How much wear is left? Is the wear even? Could suggest an alignment needed.
Shake the wheel hard. Shouldn’t move much. If it does, could be a problem with the wheel bearings or suspension.
Take a look at the brake disks and caliper if possible.
Don't want too much rust or grooves. Should be silver and smooth.
If you can get sight of the pad, have a look to see how thick / worn it is
