I will say only thing JSU version is that lower brass preferably the Tubas because listening to the song it’s most similar but SU version is catered to the upper brass and the Tubas take it up...
Carl Cunningham yeah JSU was the best i thought. Arrangement was dope and those Tuba's are the real deal. I would say they have the best tuba's in the swac. Love that rich full sound.

SU - that in your face aggressiveness is what made me say "SHAT" that's the SU I remember, but I feel the arrangement could've been way better. 4. I like PV.... not from a musical/analytical perspective, but just generally keeping the hype of the original song. Drums, chants, etc. With this song in particular, you can keep all the extra embellished countermelodies, staggered breaks, and moving parts, lol. A lot like with SU and IDGAF... nothing fancy, just raw hype.

SU JSU PV Txsu Hands down Southern won they were the cleanest, powerful, balance, straight heat and by far the best trumpets. JSU was really good but I didn't feel the power from them because of lack of trumpets if the boom head some trumpets I don't know who I would have picked. PV was just loud and all over the place. Texas Southern had the possibility to be good but it sound like they was missing something in the song.

I've been a proud band head since I picked up a horn in the early 90s. I love where technology has taken us to where we can witness and enjoy this type of stuff even if we're not able to physically be there. I appreciate it all. I was at the swac championship game and saw kellakev on the field. I started to dap ya up brother to let you know you're truly appreciated. U put HBCU bands in a positive light consistently and that's awesome.

Southern was easily first and TxSo was last, although they are coming hard. I think I would give JSU a narrow second place, mainly because they were cleaner than PV and their overall arrangement continued to ascend.
Southerns hornline has ridiculously tight articulation for college level. Not normally a fan of this style but gotta give credit to a hornline where it’s due

Thanks for putting me on to the Norfolk State version. While Kev specifically said that he focused on bands playing outside, NSU's version of this song is the best I've heard so far. Clean. Tuba driven. And not overplayed by the horn section. I would love to see Tennessee State's Pep Band take a stab at this song during basketball season.
