    If my display reads only 8's and is (not) changing, does that mean my electric has been shut off remotely by a computer, I have 2 circuits, only the wall outlets dont work (including the refrigerator), but the ceiling fixtures work, do you have any idea of what is going on, look forward to your reply.

    Does anyone know where to find this same information but for an Xcel Smart meter?

    the current usage... is that current usage at the moment, or total so far for the day?

  • @nwinter2752
    @nwinter2752 4 роки тому

    The 1.103 I don’t believe is your current usage. It is what is called demand and it is very complicated. You can shut the main breaker off and it should still read 1.103, which means that it is not the current wattage being used.

      @@nwinter2752 you are incorrect. this meter shown is displaying exactly what mumblespeak guy said- (net real-time consumption ,or net power back to the grid, if any)
      So if you switch off the house, and you don't have solar, it will display zero consumption. if you have solar it then will display the full output of the solar system going back to grid, as a negative value.

    Oh! This whole meter thing is just too complicated for me to get. Way over my head. Well, I have my work cut out for me. I am going to figure it out if it kills me because $425.00 for a monthly PGE bill when it is not Christmas is just ridiculous!!

      This is ridiculous. I'm so sick of pg&e stealing our money to cover their loses they are being sued for sure to their fires.

      How to Read a Smart Meter
      If you go outside to look at your smart meter, you may notice different figures flashing on its screen. Bear in mind there could be some variation in what you see depending on your utility provider. If you see a message like "CLS," that's good news - it means a switch in the meter is closed and electricity is successfully flowing into your home. If the display instead reads "OPN" it means that there is no power to your home, which you may have already figured out if you tried switching on the lights or using an appliance.
      After the "CLS" or "OPN" indication flashes on the screen, next should come a number which will tell you the total kilowatt-hours (kWh) you've used for the current billing period. This is a handy figure to have - but smart meters are also capable of revealing much more granular information about your electricity usage. Your utility or supplier may be able to provide you with more detailed data, which can help you save energy.

    What if the dots on the bottom don’t move and they stay on the left

    • @rickywhite4701
      @rickywhite4701 Рік тому

      Well it Says if the two dots are moving to the right means it's working. If you have electricity and those two dots aren't moving I guess you're getting free electricity so keep your mouth shut.
      Just kidding hope you got your problem fixedv

      If you are referring to the 2 dash lines then- the dash lines are equivalent to the spinning dial in the old mechanical meters. If the dash lines are moving from left to right slowly you are consuming less electricity than if the dash lines were moving fast. And I was informed that if the lines are moving from right to left then you have solar panels that are generating electricity. If the dash lines on your meter are not moving then you are not consuming any power (unusual) or perhaps the meter has an issue.

    You don't have a PGE smart meter. You have PG&E smart meter. PGE is Portland General Electric. PG&E is Pacific Gas and Electric.

    Uggh! This guy talks fast and mumbles at the same time which is an interesting combination. It's hard to decipher his strange comments - if I understand what he's saying - and has seemingly low knowledge of the basics of this meter. I'll pass...
