Stan Norfleet caught up with the recently retired Vick to discuss his football accolades at Virginia Tech and in the NFL. Vick opens up about the legal problems that nearly ended his career and how he's using his story to encourage kids to stay on the right path.

Dogfighting is the disgrace thing ever. And Vick is probably the person who lie without feeling bad and do middle finger behind everyone's back. I'm a complete opposite person to Vick's character and I'm the most decent human being. I would do something great with that among of money. And what did Vick does with those money is complete nonsense and no respect to anything but himself. I believe human can change form trash to great person. If you gonna defend such disgrace person then I have a bad feeling how things will go from now on.
Mike was a great football player!! Made some mistakes, payed for them, and matured and grew from the experiences. This is a good dude doing great after football.

Public redemption. I was not a Mike Vick fan, and I love dogs, BUT when his means of making a living was taken from him , it just seems out of proportion to his misdeeds, all to cater to the public and keep the league in public favor….it was Dave Chappelle-esque.

Michael Vick will always be my favorite NFL player. Not only bc of the amount of talent he has on the field but also because he has kept pushing on since everything happened. Regardless he will always be held high in my opinion bc of all of the things he has overcome.

So yes, if you eat meat, buy meat, wear animal products, you do have a level of responsibility for their abuse. All of us do. The question is what are YOU doing to minimize your contribution to their abuse. And if the answer is nothing, what right do you have to judge Vick? Also, so you should get a pass for your actions since you didn't get caught, but you can judge Vick because he got busted for his action? Wow...the question should be reversed, who are YOU to judge someone else. The issue is not whether or not what Vick did or participated in was vile and despicable. The issue is whether he or anybody deserves forgiveness and 2nd chance. Vick paid a steep price for his actions. I guarantee you, he was punished WAY more than others who have done the same things and worse because the system wanted to make an example of him. I don't care about football or anything about him being an athlete. I care about a HUMAN BEING doing something wrong, served his time, paid a MASSIVE personal price, and wants a 2nd chance to make amends. I guarantee you Vick is currently doing WAY MORE to prevent future dogs from being abused than YOU are currently doing. Everybody does things during the course of their life (to other HUMANS) that they want to be forgiven for. You can't change the past, but you can control what you do moving forward. He can't bring back the dogs killed under his operation, but he can (and is) making a difference to prevent dogs moving forwards from suffering the same fate. And you can't say he's just doing it to save his career because his football career is over. If you're too close minded to forgive I really hope you don't get caught (remember, you said you have done things, just didn't get caught) doing something YOU want to be forgiven for.

I absolutely can assure you ... everyone has some skeletons in their closet..and at least I am willing to admit I have my share.... But I can very much guarantee it is not a crime against humanity..or wildlife..or domestic animals.... The man paid his debt to society. Almost 2yrs in prison. He also paid every penny of his debt which most men won’t do. Was a spokesman for the humane society to get kids not to follow what he did to animals. Would we want our worst mistake to define us the rest of our life? At some point we have to forgive and forget. Have we met mike? Have you had a conversation with him? All I know is this guy came to my city for football camps for kids free of charge. Everything he has done after his horrific mistake has said he has changed. Just saying
I’m a Dog Lover and could NEVER and will NEVER own a fighting dog but that is me and I hold nothing against others who feel differently and in fact my Grandfather participated in dog fighting activities. I admire Mr. Vick because he broke the law and did NOT allow the law to break him. He paid his dues and hopefully doing well in life and IF I was wealthy I’d help the man if he was in need and I’m an 80-year old white man who’s been around the block.
