Bro I just saw Michael Vick in the American Flag Football game here in San Jose yesterday. Best QB I've ever seen EVER! He was casually flicking 65 yard + passes without even cocking back. Perfect passes, passing them open with a tight spiral. One pass he missed and it hit the back wall sounded like a damn gunshot! No joke if you've never seen Vick live you've truly missed out on the greatest ever

not really the NFL adapted to it with the One Gap(3-4 and 4-3 hybrid- faster linebackers and linemen); like what they did against Cam and Kap. Green Bay defense the ZONE BLITZ 3-4 allows for Scrambling QB's to demolish them...but defenses like the one gap 3-4(5-2) defense were able to stump scrambling Qb's and confuse them.

Greatest athlete I’ve ever seen play the quarterback position; the things Michael Vick did were some of the most electrifying plays in NFL history. If only he dedicated his time off-the-field to learning the playbook and studying defensive looks/tendencies like he did later in his career at Philadelphia. Vick had such an underrated arm, he could zip the pigskin when he wanted to. I don’t know why, but when I think of Vick it’s always in that iconic 7 Atlanta Falcons Jersey.
What a great football player. One of my favorites of all-time and I’m a Giants fan too. 😂

The thing about Michael Vick, if we're trying to explain to kids how different he was, is that this wasn't a league filled with mobile or dual threat QB's, or RPO's integrated from the college game. The idea of a QB running for a first down on 3rd and 5+ would've left most players and coaches crippled emotionally. You couldn't rationalize designing such a play at this point.
This was a player who athletically was better, more gifted then perhaps anyone on the field. We talk about players who are just blazing fast QB's like RGIII was, or incredibly mobile like Russell Wilson is. But Vick was the first time people can probably remember, sans Cunningham comparisons, a QB was *faster* then the defense. And this was at a point in which we weren't really paying attention to if the Peyton Mannings of the world could run a 40 faster then their offensive lineman. Vick was the type of special at his peak that you described as magic in a bottle that you desperately wanted stoppered. He could outrun your defensive lineman and 'backers, and could outthrow your CB's and safeties deep. He barely scratched his potential by all accounts talent wise, which is why these highlights are so special. He wasn't playing over his head, he belonged certainly, but in a category the league wasn't truly ready to add yet. The fact that today, as KTO says, we have highlights of him is a disservice in the sense that it doesn't actually explain truly why at one point he was the most feared QB in the league on sundays.

That game at Green Bay was the stuff of legend and it's such a shame that the Falcons couldn't win a Super Bowl during this time. I'll never forget watching Vick on a Monday night when he was with the falcons. He scored a TD and it was challenged with the other team saying his knee was down. On the replay it looked like Vicks knee was not down because he appeared to literally hover over the turf for a couple of yards. The guy was apparently superhuman

It’s tough to see a guy as talented as Vick, by his own admission, underutilize the gifts he had. Most rushing QBs couldn’t even dream of having half the arm that Vick did, plus a rushing ability that makes most RBs jealous. Imagine if he had applied himself fully. Atlanta could have had a lot of rings if prime Vick reached his full potential

It might not have been what he done but with all that early success, ability, and people in absolute awe of you, it becomes that much harder to keep a level head, especially if you don't have a strong friend circle around you.

yep, Vick's play and impact on the NFL speaks for itself. He kinda reminds us a little of Bo Jackson. No other player has a similar mystique to Bo like Vick did. Forget his case, if Big Ben has a chance of getting in the Vick better be in the same conversation. The main person who won't give Big Ben a nod for the HOF is that one chick ran up on. As for Vick, PETA, man PETA...shut up already. I don't support what Vick did but he served his time, paid the fines and everything and then put in the work on the field.

Well... It's similar with Bo Jackson except for other reasons... i honestly don't like the heavy emphasis on stats instead of impact (which is hard to meassure & compare hence stats). But that's the Hall of Fame, i doubt people would pass on either of them just for any HOF if they had to create a team to play some ball.

@@Teschim Bo Jackson played 38 games, Vick played in 143 (started 129). It's not similar to Bo. Vick averaged for his career/game:
      Passing: 174 yds 1.03 tds
      Rushing: 86 yds .27 tds
Total Passing: 22,464 yds 133 tds
Total Rushing: 11,024 yds 36 tds
      Total Combined 33,488 yds 169 td over 129 complete games. That's 1.31 TD/GM, 259 yds/GM
      Eli Manning has 1.51 TD/GM and 243 yds/GM.
Vick WOULD have made HOF IF he somehow could have kept the pace up but a running qb generally can't. As it is, short career (~8.5 seasons) and the dog fighting, I think no way!

    • @Teschim
      @Teschim 5 років тому

@@mohnjarx7801 so you argue that Bo wouldn have made it into the HOF if it werent for his injury or if he prioritized the NFL? The point im trying to make is that stats do not necessarily reflect once ability to win games at any given time. A player with a short lived time in the league wont make it into the HOF despite how great his feats might be. To put it simple, if you had to pick a RB for your team and you've got to choose between Bo or any HOF RB (all in their prime), who'd you choose?
