    Hi sqlbelle, big thumbs up from me, this is the 1st video that I have on you demonstrating Tableau and I am very impressed learnt alot and always woundered how you can get a sparkline into what looks like a table but is in fact a dashboard made up of the various tables but looks all in one, will be coming back for more content on Tableau. Personally been using Tableau for 8 months now. Regards Andrew

    • @sqlbelle
      @sqlbelle  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you for sharing Andrew! Glad to hear you found the video helpful :) .. There are also ways to make the sparklines in the same worksheet, but those tend to get a lot more complicated with more workarounds/calculated fields. I personally tend to just use the dashboard way because I find them more maintainable.

    • @sqlbelle
      @sqlbelle  2 роки тому +1

      @@silent-ghost Always interested in suggestions, please feel free to let me know some additional details. Overall though it could get tricky. On top of my head I am thinking you will need to create (yet) another calculated field. The out-of-the-box subtotals can't be dynamically/conditionally formatted, at least not that I am aware of. What I've had to do in the past is create another measure, or even possibly go back to the data source and have it calculated there with a different tag. This allows for easier conditional formatting within Tableau.

    Hi Belle thanks for the good tips and techniques, I am myself a tableau developer working for a big firm, One thing which I observed in most of the other tutorial channels is that they only start and end with beginner level information, which is not sufficient to excel with real time scenarios, You are doing doing a right thing by teaching us some advance concepts which is really helpful for me as an experience folk (eg: Trellis chart), My request is Please can you touch upon 1). Performance tuning and optimization 2). Data scaffolding 3). advance tricks and techniques 4). Advanced charts ( eg : sanky, sunburst) 5). SSO integration and data security based on user. I am really amazed to see your approach with crisp and clear explanation. I wonder how much preparation you go through before making an actual video Keep up the good work !!!

    Great Video!! When I try Strategy #2: Conditional Formatting - Text, my number value is percentage and when I try to assign color to the triangle shape it defaults to a gradient color vs just one specific color.

    • @sqlbelle
      @sqlbelle  3 роки тому

      Ah - what this means is there is a range of numbers in that pill you placed. You can add a step to the color legend so that you're controlling the number of colors that are being shown. Hope this helps!

    This is a great resource! Is there a way to include the total of the KPI with an up or down arrow? I get it to work without total/ grand totals, but hoping totals/grand totals can be included

    • @sqlbelle
      @sqlbelle  Рік тому +1

      Thank you - I don't think we can do it "out of the box" but we can technically create another calculated field with the totals, and derive the up/down arrow from there.

    Hi Sqlbelle.. the video was very helpful as I was struggling with coloring selected columns in the table. However I do have a question.. in the dashboard if we are bringing together tables from different sheets and hiding the headers from all except first table if the user sorts the sub-category then the sales will be sorted however the rest will remain the same right?

    • @sqlbelle
      @sqlbelle  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks Saumya - yes, by default that's how it's going to behave. There are ways to "synch" the different sheets, perhaps by using parameter actions, but currently it isn't straightforward.

    I changed the aggregation of the discount field to average and created a discount threshold parameter. There is something wrong with my parameter it is not showing percentage properly to compare with the discount field. Can you please provide the screenshot of your parameter creation dialog box to check what is wrong with mine.

      If what you're seeing is zeroes, you can look at the formatting option and select percentage.
