How to Connect with Your Audience Through Data Stories
In this lesson, we dive into data storytelling and creating effective visuals.
As data professionals, we often have a lot of data and need to find hidden insights.
But how do we turn those findings into a story our audience can understand?
This video will provide tips on how to create compelling data stories and pick the right visuals.
--
This video is one of the modules in a bigger course on data visualization best practices, which I co-created with Data Governance expert George Firican.

How can I add dynamic up and down arrows for only my row totals not to the other columns in the table?
Hi Sqlbelle! First off, #bigFan Offtopic query about CSV downloading: I have a table in my dashboard, that some of colleagues in the company need to download as CSV. And few higher managers don't want to download CSV in regular way - they want single button to download data in view with applied filters. I tried to create a download button, and assigning dashboard URL ending with ".CSV" (Andy Kriebel's trick, a.w.a. extension from informationLab). Issue is - 10s of measures that I have arranged in individual columns get squashed into 2 columns: measureNames, measureValues. How to solve this? It would be helping hand if you can make a quick video about this❤
Thank you so much for your videos on Tableau , I always search your videos only whenever I need the tableau concept ...Thank you so much
Thank you very much
Thank you very much
Wonderful explanation with all the use cases and how to implement them. I learnt so much from this video. Thank you so much and keep up the great work.
Hi Madam How can we automate task in Tableau + Alteryx Project?? In case of Tableau + Tableau Prep Builder we can create workflow in Tableau Prep Builder then we can publish output ( Superstore.hyper) as well as workflow to Tableau Server. Then We can connect Tableau Desktop to data output( Superstore.hyper) from Alteryx which is already published on Tableau Server. After dashboard development with can publish Tableau Dashboard to Tableau Server. Then we can schedule data refresh and Workflow Refresh on Tableau Server.
Thank you. At least 10 years working on Tableau and I have never seen anyone not even from Tableau marketing guys showing this detailed explanation.
best video for LOD
Useful tips. Thx
Great
These are useful videos, but the background music is a bit loud, and probably not necessary at all.
Great Nicely Explained,Enjoyed the Video. Thanks
This is amazing. Really impressive. Thankyou v much
Very nice thankyou. I really like the viz in tooltip feature.
Query: At 9:00, you have used fixed LOD to show correct salary in joins example. If we use average of salary or min of salary or max salary without LOD that's also gives same result. Is there any specific reason to use LOD here?
it helped me a lot
When I add the calculation to the filter for the charts I want, why do my charts disappear on their own worksheet except for the first worksheet I added the calculation to? They'll show in the dashboard as normal but not in their own respective sheets.
Hello there, i just want to consult on you on how to work on 3 parameter with each of it has 3 list inside of it. Each required individual chart to show. Theres a hierarchy on the selection that would define which charts to show. Example the first parameter is (QTD, Yearly, Monthly), second parameter is (Region A,B), third parameter is (CostumerA,B). thank you appreciate your help
how to format header name when some of the header name are not visible properly in a table and we dont want to change table width
@sqlbelle, How can I limit the indicator to just one column like a column that indicates the total or sum of other columns?
😊😊
What an amazing session ....Simply brilliant lecture!!!

great explanation, but damn, tableau is stupid -- this should be so easy, yet they make it so convoluted
Thank you! This is very helpful 👍🙏
Yes it's very useful. thanks.....
Any of the error when we work with custom SQL queries ?
My search finally ends here to understand LODs! You made it really easy. Kudos!
Which tool you used for recording & annotation.
the music drive people nuts
The background music drive me nuts
THANK YOU SO MUCH. Idk what is the purpose I went to college...
I still didnt get it, do you have another example?
10:43. lol Why do I always forget that what I'm looking for is actually simple to find.
Thank you for creating this. Very well explained and easy to follow.
Well Done, Madam ... You always help with your content and by a way of representation 👍
Thank You so MUCH for this. I'm running on circles for the last 2-3 days trying to understand "What hell was going on with my calculations" and FINALLY I found someone that goes beyond knowing - You really know to teach! I'm so glad to found your video - serious - You have no IDEA how it was helpful. Thank You so much - I had watched 20+ hours of tableau videos regarding other subjects, but always I need to watch like 6-10 videos on each problem to find a mediocre one. I will watch your full Channel after this video - You're a great teacher!!! Thank you and congrats for the content - It's AMAZING.
Amazing video as always! thank you ! However could you add more information about how you created the parameters?
I liked the way it's explained. I've been stuck since 2-3 days with an issue in visualization but you made it appear so easy.
Amazing starting from scratch tutorial! Tysm.
I wish I had seen this video before I started creating dashboards in Tableau. Thank you for providing such wonderful information
I have no idea why this video has only 6k views. This is a masterpiece
This is fantastic!! It helped me with an interview question, thanks! Keep em coming!
Thank you so much! Just learnt that I need to 'pack' everything in lod and then works like magic! I've created visibility control based on value and then also added a parametr to override the calculation. Thanks to this parts of dashboard are hidden by default (calculation returs 0), but users can show it by changing the parameter. Sweet! :)
Those are the best video I've found on Tableau LOD expressions. Thank you so much! Everything is explained in such a clear and thorough way and the examples are most useful. I've watched quite a number of videos so far but only after yours I've got a clear understanding of how LOD really works.
Wonderfully explained.
