    As a Nairobi school graduate , I suggest it’s about time Teachers and parents thought hard about what role and authority can be assigned to students. A minor (anyone below the age of 18) should not have any authority over a fellow minor. Students go to school to learn and not to boss their fellow students around. The so called ‘prefects’ should have no authority to punish their fellow students.

      @ cane is not the only way to discipline kids. This is a different generation. School should set school rules and set strict measures to make sure every student is aware of the co sequence. Monolisation, assort or any kind of bullying should not be tolerated any student that involves them in such activities should be sent home for good. Also parents and government. It takes a village to raise a child.

    From the Facebook comments on the original post, it seems things are bad here in Kenya. Too many cases of bad things happening to kids in school. If your child is a prefect in any primary or high school, you better talk with him/her and ensure he understands there's life after high school, and that he is not a small gods to be worshipped. One parent said if that was his child who was injured, he would visit the hardware before going to the school. Another one said because the courts will obviously do nothing, there are several goons who are just waiting to be hired. Another said a similar thing happened to his child, and when he was called to the school, the headteacher had to literally run for his life. That's all.

A school teacher or headmaster should never be allowed to head a school that allows minors to punish other minors. Prefect or not! Serious action needs to be taken on the students doing this. That's where the problem comes from. How the hell do students elect their prefects?????? In a boarding school??? The competent ones should be elected by teachers and principals. NOT BY STUDENTS. CHARGES SHOULD BE PRESSED AGAINST STUDENTS WHO BATTERED THE BOY. YOUR CHILD COULD BE NEXT OR MIGHT BE GOING THROUGH THE SAME TORTURE AT SCHOOL, IN THAT SAME SCHOOL!!

    Those boys responsible to the boys condition should be arrested ,there is no other way around it .it should be a lesson to bullies and for schools that cover up for dirty games .we parents are afraid of our sons and daughters schools or rather boarding schools don't feel like a safe zone anymore esp this being a second case this year after the gatanga incident

    The same people yapping about teachers are the ones that condemn them when they try to instil discpline in the bad mannered kids. If your kid is sent home or punished for that U start throwing stones all over. Actually the perpetrators should face the law.Kae mwendaga atia?

    I think Mr. Mangohah should deal with this principal and the entire prefect body and serve as an example to many. Our children are suffering in schools yet some teachers are doing nothing. On school nurses , I feel they are not doing their work . Some are very rude while others go to an extent of beating our children telling them that they are pretending. I ask the culprits to be held responsible.

    • @lizw1493
      @lizw1493 5 років тому +1

      Why do you want someone to do something about your own child when you yourself can't? Kenyans and crying serikali tusaidie. Take care of your own children. I am a teacher by profession and most parents are so foolish, they expect the school will be mother and father to their children. Shame.

      I never understand why Kenyans EVEN send their kids to boarding schools. It's rarely done in the USA
      Why would you TRUST others to raise your kids? It's colonial BULLSHIT. Why would you want a kid to be unsupervised by you in the most formative years of their life supervised by there fellow kids and you pay for it?
      Are all Kenyans lazy parents?
