Back when I was throwing; the bad habit I developed was looking down to find the center of the ring to plant my right foot. That ruined many a throw. There was a state champion thrower that had a strange way of kicking his right leg out of the back of the circle kind of like punting a football. I tried to imitate it but couldn't get it to work and never saw another thrower ever do that the way he did.
