If you are ever in Columbus, MS, you have to stay at Shadowlawn Bed and Breakfast! You will never want to stay anywhere else! The owner is a dear friend of mine. It’s not far from Waverly mansion in West Point. Gorgeous!
I love this house when we were looking for a house to buy in Mississippi this house was on the market and I was so interested in it. Even though we didn’t buy this beautiful home we bought a 1892 Queen Anne Victorian in Como Mississippi

For our 25th anniversary I treated us (me) to a brand new king size bedroom suite! I laughed out loud for real when you said that. I saw this house and thought "LOOK, it's Pearl's older sister!"

If I'm ever in Mississippi I'll definitely book a room there. But truth be told I absolutely love that bathroom. The idea of unwinding after a day of sightseeing with a great big glass of wine and a tub full of bubbles makes me wanna climb through my tablet and relax. Jeff's wife approves. 😊😏😏

A couple few years ago, we had a bed and breakfast in my town that catered to 'scrapbook ladies'. I guess there used to be a very active group of these scrap book fans out of the Dallas Texas area who used to book large amounts of beds and or floors of Victorian and other similar themed bed and breakfast places. I used to always daydream about buying an old Victorian and running my own bed and breakfast. Nice to see you are promoting the great places that you find. Very good!
I had grits when I went NC last. I was told, as I’m from the UK, that it was like porridge, but it was super grim 😂 I did wolf down my pancakes though!!!

Our first and only experience at a bed-and-breakfast was horrible the room was so small then there was a little hallway and another room and some other week people stayed in that room and that’s where the control was for the heat we were sweating all night I had to open the kitchen window because she couldn’t open the window in the bedroom because they were stairs at the end of the people kept going up and down from outside it was sad well we had to leave early because I got food poisoning it was not a good experience and we’ve never been to one again that was in Saint Augustine Florida but who knows maybe someday my husband saysHe’ll never go again but that place that you are at is absolutely colitis I love you will never get out there it was supposed to say gorgeous I have heart problems and just had heart surgery and that’s pretty pretty far from here and go but I just love you guys you’re awesome and I’m shocked you don’t drink coffee but thank you thank you so much for all your videos and the beautiful houses that you are working on U2 are really something awesome

No “kickback”- we just enjoy sharing Victorian homes with you. Some are for sale, but we can’t all just up and move to get to enjoy a home. A BNB is a great way to enjoy some historic architecture, great hospitality, and leave the hard work to someone else!

I wish you 2 would come and restore my grandmothers little old house. Lol. It’s such a small house, located in Southern West Virginia. 3 bedrooms, 2 are upstairs, separated only by the stairs. Lol. Actually 1 room. Tiny kitchen, small dining area with visible washer and dryer. 1 bath. Tiny master bedroom on main floor. How she raised 5 kids in that house, I’ll never know. My aunt bought it after my grams passed away and replaced the cabinets with dark cabinets.and made it look even smaller. It was a display kitchen she found on sale. Lol. The dining room could’ve been made into the kitchen because it’s a bit larger. The kitchen would’ve been perfect for a dining area… And a swinging door going into the kitchen (dining room) between the family room, like the Jeffersons or Edith Bunker’s kitchen. I always thought that would be cool. Ha .I really don’t like opening the front door and seeing the kitchen. The stairs could’ve came down into the dining room (current kitchen) and would’ve given the living area a little more space, also could’ve hidden the washer and dryer under the stairs, maybe. I sure do love that house. My aunt doesn’t live in it any longer, but still owns it, and lives on the property. The house is empty. What I wouldn’t give! She’s almost 80 now. I pray someday to be able to own it… But as of right now it’s not possible. The pandemic has really hurt my family, although we are still working. My husband is a recruiter and works straight commission. One month we’re eating chicken, the next month it’s feather. Lol. But an old girl can still dream. Sorry, I got carried away.😂
I drink coffee because my dad used to every morning. When I was little, I wanted to drink coffee with him, so he poured a tiny bit of coffee and a bunch of milk in my cup. To this day, I drink coffee with just under half full of milk. I am 58 yrs. old and that is my breakfast.
I feel for ya with the coffee. I also don't drink it, even at 4:30 in the A.M. I worked at a job where they threatened to fire me if I didn't contribute money to the coffee fund and take a turn at cleaning the coffee station, even when they knew I didn't EVER drink it. And I agree with the asparagus with creamed fig sauce! I understand they want to be creative with their culinary skills, but I've seen some strange stuff at B&Bs for breakfasts. The least they could do is announce what it is when they bring it out instead of quiet mumblings when someone is gauche enough to ask.
Don't feel bad about the no coffee or grits thing. I'm a bit of a coffee & grits snob myself. The truth is that a good cup of coffee can only be made in a percolator, with beans ground just before perking (IMO) and it's a whole lot easier to find badly made grits (instant packets are just ugh!) than it is the mounds of savory, creamy deliciousness that my grandmother made. So, while I love both, I'm right there with you not ordering either when out and about.

No problems not liking coffee. My husband won't drink anything hot! No tea, coffee, apple cider or even hot chocolate ( not even broth when he's sick). I drink very little coffee and mostly iced so I can truly understand not being a coffee drinker. As for grits, I can only surmise that you were fed that everyday as children and ended up with too much of a good thing, kind of like oatmeal for us northerners ;-). I've found that if I do order grits they are either very thin or very thick. I've yet to discover the right consistency at restaurants.

7:30 is called UGLY COW-MILKING HOURS! I'm NOT eating at that time of morning. And then when I do, I want NORMAL food. Eggs (so done they can't even THINK of moving!), bacon (OMG, Bac-c-c-con!) And toast. I can do quiche.... with bacon on the side, and toast. But not coffee 99.99% of the time... I want TEA! With caffeine. Tea that will melt the spoon! And keep that lemon and milk AWAY from my TEA! Traveling one time with my daughter (about 10 then) she asked for grits in Penn. The waitress actually said, "What is a grit?" And offered my child cream of wheat or rice, to which she replied, "Yetch! That's NASTY!"

You guys are not weird…. Our go to morning drinks are a Coke and a Big glass of Ice Tea…from Southern ILLinois! No coffee house for us.

7:30 is called UGLY COW-MILKING HOURS! I'm NOT eating at that time of morning. And then when I do, I want NORMAL food. Eggs (so done they can't even THINK of moving!), bacon (OMG, Bac-c-c-con!) And toast. I can do quiche.... with bacon on the side, and toast. But not coffee 99.99% of the time... I want TEA! With caffeine. Tea that will melt the spoon! And keep that lemon and milk AWAY from my TEA! Traveling one time with my daughter (about 10 then) she asked for grits in Penn. The waitress actually said, "What is a grit?" And offered my child cream of wheat or rice, to which she replied, "Yetch! That's NASTY!"
Oh hands down dead people are my favorite people, the cemeteries would be a highlight for me too! Also grits are disgusting.
