Thank you Karl and everyone in the team for your continued hard work and support! I'd like to share my sentiments to everyone as somebody who was a former international student here in Melbourne. Almost 8 years ago I moved to Australia from New York City in the hope of pursuing a better quality of life in Melbourne. I've spent all of my 30's working on this foundation via multiple visas starting from the Working Holiday, Student Visa, 485 , and now TSS 482. Although I am eligible for the ENS 186 coming up in November this year, there is still a big risk that my employer may not decide to nominate me once more. I've also submitted my EOI for the Skilled Visa 189 back in November 2023 with 90 points under Systems Analyst role. As you have pointed out in this video the 189 remains questionable and my chances with this are uncertain. Not a day goes by without the stress from my circumstance, and I can totally empathise with everyone who have been impacted by these poorly considered changes. Best of luck to all.

With backlog touching atleast 36-37k by this 30 June 24 and planning levels set as 33k do you really think there should be any invitation rounds for 190 in the new FY ? The bottleneck seems not to be getting resolved. People are getting invited but those who have already lodged are not getting the visas. One more thing I could see is the introduction of new medical test (eGFR) for those who lodged applications and got hap id generated post 1st July 23 has this test already included as part of the medical tests. But for those who lodged applications and generated hap id prior 1st July 23 didn’t had this test as part of medical tests and with their (those lodged prior May 23) medicals expired will be asked to get medicals done again. This isn’t really fair.
What this will cause is the beginning of discrimination, both for Australians and internationals. And the message that the government wants to give to all Australians, whether they are permanent residents or not, is that a person over 35 years old is useless.
There are things I get, if evil, like not taking occupations that are not to be invited off the list, so we can keep wasting money in assessments. However, I cannot comprehend why are they reducing PR visas in favor of temporary, when temporary visas force people to rent and preclude us from investing in building houses.
Liberal pulled the stunt of reducing PR visa quota back in 2018 already, while allowing uncapped temporary visa holders flowing into this country. It's just a token action fooling Australian citizens while hurting all aspiring prospect PR visa applicants. I would not be surprised if liberal does this again but make it far worse, like capping PR visa to some measly 9000 per year or something, while undoing all the hard work done by Labor.
First time landing here. This is gold content about the immigration system in Australia. So informative and funny, despite the tragedy of being a migrant playing this unfair game. Anyway, thanks for your work and good luck to us all
Straight ahead Discriminatory factor. What about people closing their construction companies and living Lavish lifestyle. Government want to distract people, rather than making a law stronger for bogus companies. They blaming students but not fake construction companies.
Thanks a ton, Karl for your meaningful and valuable insights. Kudos to your commitment in helping out all PR aspirants. Loads of love and blessings from India.
I have a friend her sister chose to study and live in Australia for better opportunities and be closer to her sister and her family here. But despite having a desirable degree for a job in demand and having good support with her family here theyve told her not enough. So even if people want to stay they can't anymore.
I am worried too because I will be turning 35 this year on the same date 1st of July and my 4th semester will finish in October. I didn't know whether the Australian government would give post-study work visas or not after the 1st of July. It's a depressive phase for those who are doing their post-graduation and willing to get their 485 visas.
@ailsaustralia Now that the 485 is not going to affect the PHD, or Masters in research students then how is it going to be for the current students over 35 years who are doing Masters by coursework? why is such an unfair act only targeting to a very limited minority group of people who are current students of Masters? how this is going to help with the housing crisis as the current students are already living in this country? petitions are done, emails are sent but no response are given. why are they taking time?
AU migration has become a shit show thanks to Labor. It is getting worse day by day without any transparency. What they only care about is the next election. As an engineer with self-respect and 10+ years of work experience, I won’t sit another English test just for the unpredictable and slim odds of invitation. There are so many other migration pathways or countries to consider.
@@BenFolkard-sy2wj You guys do not understand what you listen and read. I did not say LNP was better. As Karl mentioned, there was at least a consistency with the invitation rounds in the past. An invitation round every two or three months. System was selecting the candidates with high points from among wide range of occupations. By that logic, I could have known whether I get invitation or not. Now everything subjective, in the hands of government with zero transparency. Labor has somehow become the “saviour” of nation and would allegedly solve the housing crisis by cutting migration, as if that problem has emerged in the last couple of years. Good job Albo! If you wanna solve the housing crisis, stop selling houses to Chinese and other oligarchs in your country. Do not put the blame on migrants and migration!
Canada, Australia, new zealand are same, they were controlled by 5 times tuition fees mafias, they were operating globally and controll immigrations. Heres the logic : 1. You want to work as agriculture workers ? iLLegal, potentially abused. But, selling marijuana is legal. 2. You want to work as healthcare workers to earn money and help people ? illegal / no credentials / requirements not complete. But, selling alcohol to make peoples got hepatitis is perfectly Legal. 3. You want to work as construction workers ? illegal, no visa this and no requirements that. But homosexualism, prostitutions and casinos gambling are legal with their regulations. Remember, they have stolen your time and money. Make sure your families and friends do not suffer the same fate.
The numbers they are discussing are definetly off. Most people dont understand the difference between onshore and offshore application difference. Cutting migration numbers will result in raise on aat applications i wonder how they will manage that. Because a lot of visa refusals are not based on reasonable grounds.
Dear Karl, big fan and thanks for providing all the information. By when you do you think visa grants for 190 will start in full flow? Now it seems bit slow with almost no grants..
Hello Karl, I'm reaching out to inquire about the implications of recent changes for international students pursuing studies in construction sectors such as carpentry. As a carpentry student, I've begun to feel concerned about the potential impact on my endeavors. Investing time and resources into a two-year course, covering expenses for tuition, accommodation, and taxes, only to find that there may not be an opportunity for a post-graduate visa, feels disheartening. I decided to pursue this course due to the limitations I faced in obtaining a sponsored visa, despite having over six years of experience in cabinet making.
Hello Karl, Thank you again for the straight speak and the petition. I am trying to sign this but I get an error: "Confirmation email error". Also, can you advise what route the petition takes? No living being is ever capable of heaping more injustice on another of its own kind than a human being is. This sums up our 485 situation. Thanks, Satya
With enough signature, this petition will be present to the parliament to be heard, and the parliament will present a response to whoever launched the petition. At the very least, the voice will be heard.
I'm curious about the legal grounds for challenging the age cap on the 485 visa. If we want to challenge the age cap through a class action, could principles of basic common law theory, such as laws being set prior and Sections 108 and 128 of the Constitution constitute a legal ground of doing so?
Based on your experience, do you think there will be another round of 189 invitations before July, considering only 8,300 invitations have been issued out of 30,375.
Highly unlikely. Remember the quota is not the same as how many invitations they will issue, but how many 189 visas they are able to grant in that financial year.
@@justyrahiljohnson4438what I can tell you based on my personal experience and other peoples story is, it’s always best to start the process of migration, such as practicing English and preparing for skills assessment. You will never know when the invitation will hit you. I understand there are pending policy changes but some of those are not changed, such as English levels, work experience, skills assessment. Focus on those aspects that government favours, instead of things like PY and NAATI.

Sir, i wanted to ask you a doubt. As per the latest EOI update, around 4000+ applicants are there only from an electrical engineering occupation. In that 2096 applicants with 70 points for subclass 190. In the current financial year, as everyone knows that there are no significant number of invitations received. Also, there are a ton of applicants who have points above 80... My question is, what is the point of applicants below 80 points ?, are the investment of these applicants not recognized, or are the australian government considering them as only a backup plan ? Kindly reply!! Source: eoi database, skillselect

But Chinese student visa approval rate is still 95%, However Indian applicants struggling, their Approval letter is only 80% and in VET course less than 35% That’s discrimination
As a fellow international student, I think Indians are still more favored than the others. Indians can still have a full duration of 485 while my nationality does not have that privilege. Also, the biggest percentage of students are from India and China, while student from my country is only 15% of total Indian student. Yet we are all affected by it.

Karl, to be honest, this measure taken from the Government has a bipartisan support and also supported by most Australian voters. The immigration intake would be further slashed if LNP wins the next election. I don't think Australian Universities elites could shake much bottom here. General Public/Australian voters are very much against the immigration surge as the media is busy portraying a boogeyman phenomenon regarding housing crisis and immigration.
Not even sure which issue you are referring to but the housing crisis will never be solved if you allow investers to by houses just to place them onto AIRBNB or similar. if 400,000 houses were freed up this way there would be no crisis and students would be welcome to come and spend their money here

Why they singled out Indians and Chinese nationals? Some British are saying that Indians didn't want the British in India but gladly followed them to Australia. It's confusing that so many nationals can coexist with British in Australia and in the UK but can not tolerate British in their own country.
These changes are seriously driving me crazy..... just not ready for any surprises any more Karl..
Yeah I can fully appreciate that. Hope fully no bad news from here on
2022 was the golden year in the history of 189 visa! There has never been a year of visa rain like 2022 and sadly never again will be...
YOu are probably right as the new version will be launced maybe at the end of the year with a new points test and a new name
What this will cause is the beginning of discrimination, both for Australians and internationals. And the message that the government wants to give to all Australians, whether they are permanent residents or not, is that a person over 35 years old is useless.
It's a terrible example of how not to run an immigration department
You are one of those in this country, who still consider immigrants a human🙏🏻
Not you Indians.
Thank you for your support.
❤ Karl analysis always top notch !! First goto news for immigration news 📰
Thanks Kamal, much appreciated!
There are things I get, if evil, like not taking occupations that are not to be invited off the list, so we can keep wasting money in assessments. However, I cannot comprehend why are they reducing PR visas in favor of temporary, when temporary visas force people to rent and preclude us from investing in building houses.
Actually no one except Peter Dutton is thinking of reducing the PR quota
Liberal pulled the stunt of reducing PR visa quota back in 2018 already, while allowing uncapped temporary visa holders flowing into this country. It's just a token action fooling Australian citizens while hurting all aspiring prospect PR visa applicants. I would not be surprised if liberal does this again but make it far worse, like capping PR visa to some measly 9000 per year or something, while undoing all the hard work done by Labor.
First time landing here. This is gold content about the immigration system in Australia. So informative and funny, despite the tragedy of being a migrant playing this unfair game. Anyway, thanks for your work and good luck to us all
thank you for doing this, Karl. will share the link to my friends and family.
Thank you for your support!
Straight ahead Discriminatory factor. What about people closing their construction companies and living Lavish lifestyle. Government want to distract people, rather than making a law stronger for bogus companies. They blaming students but not fake construction companies.
Yes something should be done about how the construction companies escape accountability
Thanks a ton, Karl for your meaningful and valuable insights. Kudos to your commitment in helping out all PR aspirants. Loads of love and blessings from India.
Thanks heaps for the support!
Join the effort by emailing your local MP, senators and uni vice chancellor.
Still could be that being 35 will be alright but lets hope they give a transition period so everyone can relax
Thanks for the positive feedback from the greens. Let’s continue pushing!!!!!
You bet!
Sir, salute for your effort and hard work on 485 visa age issue.
So nice of you Manoj, thanks
AU migration has become a shit show thanks to Labor. It is getting worse day by day without any transparency. What they only care about is the next election. As an engineer with self-respect and 10+ years of work experience, I won’t sit another English test just for the unpredictable and slim odds of invitation. There are so many other migration pathways or countries to consider.
Understand how you feel and we cant blame you
Ikr! This gov is the one invited offshore ppl with 65 points, saying we need more ppl from offshore😢
As someone who went through COVID etc. I can assure you it all started with liberal when Scott Morrison and Peter Dutton were in charge.
Canada, Australia, new zealand are same, they were controlled by 5 times tuition fees mafias, they were operating globally and controll immigrations. Heres the logic :
Dear sir i have 190 visa in South Australia and not able to get a job.
The numbers they are discussing are definetly off.
Most people dont understand the difference between onshore and offshore application difference.
Cutting migration numbers will result in raise on aat applications i wonder how they will manage that. Because a lot of visa refusals are not based on reasonable grounds.
Yes for those onshore who get refused most will go to the AAT
It is an age discrimination by the Australian government for the international students.
Dear Karl, big fan and thanks for providing all the information. By when you do you think visa grants for 190 will start in full flow? Now it seems bit slow with almost no grants..
Thanks for your support, much appreciated. 190's should fire up again when the states open up again after July
Karl, you're a beacon of hope, thank you 🙏
Thank you, much appreciated
Hello Karl,
I'm reaching out to inquire about the implications of recent changes for international students pursuing studies in construction sectors such as carpentry.
Hopefully the opportunity will still be there for everyone
Hello Karl,
Thank you again for the straight speak and the petition. I am trying to sign this but I get an error: "Confirmation email error".
Also, can you advise what route the petition takes?
No living being is ever capable of heaping more injustice on another of its own kind than a human being is. This sums up our 485 situation.
Thanks,
Satya
It is working now, please try again. Thanks for your support
Its difficult, lets hope that won't be necessary
Based on your experience, do you think there will be another round of 189 invitations before July, considering only 8,300 invitations have been issued out of 30,375.
Thats the whole problem, nobody knows the answer to that
Highly unlikely. Remember the quota is not the same as how many invitations they will issue, but how many 189 visas they are able to grant in that financial year.
A quick question, I was planning on starting with the PR 189 visa process, what do you suggest I do, wait or start immediately? Please respond
@@estellebright2579 Heyy thank you so much for replying. Your words are a relief. Thanks again 😊
Now that the announcements are made, i hope DHA processes the applicants under 190,491 and 189. Since lodging in 2023, the turnaround time has changed more than 6 times!
Hope they will be soon!
I learned from my friend (Australian citizen) that his parents holding valid visitor visa were only granted one-week stay in Sydney in April 2024, compared to their multiple 3-month stays in 2023. Why did this happen?
Not sure of the circumstances so cannot comment
Thank you Sir..for helping International Student..you are big help for us.❤
The amount of stress and anxiety my husband and I going through because of the age cap. We have never been this depressed in our years together. Just upsetting. 😢
Understand completely. Don't give up just yet, lots of people are trying
Did you and your husband send emails to the local MP?
Change your visa to construction workers visa to solve cheap housing problem in australia. If they refuse, thays mean they have planned to scam your money since beginning.
I did masters in civil engineering from Swinburne invested 7 years in this country I have invested so much what I gain just a dead end. I should have opted canada or other country than Aus. At least I had stability.

Thank you so so much Karl for speaking for us.
My pleasure! Wish we could do more
Thank you Karl for speaking for us.
Weclome!

Other countries did not abuse and deny students the opportunity to study
The petition EN6198 is closed with 21298 signatures. When will this be presented?
Not sure but soon we hope. However we will bring it to the attention of the Minister
@ailsaustralia Thank you very much for your kind response! Do we need to get a decision/response on the petition before 1st of July? Is that right??
@ailsaustralia the status please??
Hi all link is working now ❤. Pls have a try.
Thank you so much!
Hi AILS Team,
If there are no new 189 invitations and 190quotas are limited why did they just increase the wait times for 190 visa processing by 25%? Will there be an update video on processing times?
Appreciate tour efforts!
Yes we will, next week
Thank you so much for bring the age gap issue on the 485 visa. We all hope that the Government can consider what you and us have made.
We are counting on it that they will
Thank you Sir, Appreciated about your voice
You are most welcome
Hello Karl
What happens to the offshore applications, who have waited for more than 1 year fulfilled the all requirements and just Waiting for the grants and our age is not reversing and still have to wait for 3 more years to the get the 191 after fulfilling all the requirements for 491. We don’t see any future 😢😢😢?
Dinesh when you have lodged the 491 your age does not matter anymore. There is no minimum age for the 191 visa, so relax, hang in there and your time will come
Thank you Karl ❤
When are state and territory allocations are expected? Year2024-25
👍👍Thank you for raising your voice

Hi Mr.karl
It’s worse few months actually
Me being a recruiter for chefs .
7 nominations got refused with no reason at all.
Reason they mentioned for few of the restaurant own that they don’t need chefs 😂
It’s so funny restaurants can’t open without chefs .
Restaurants owners are struggling bad and shutting their restaurants and it’s genuine requirement and they are willing to pay the right amount.
Are chefs going to be capped out too?
Thank you
I know a terrible example of the department being told to follow a general priciple of refusing that really makes their own decision making process look stupid
Can we expect RDA after July? Can we expect rain invitation of 491?
But Chinese student visa approval rate is still 95%, However Indian applicants struggling, their Approval letter is only 80% and in VET course less than 35%
That’s discrimination
As a fellow international student, I think Indians are still more favored than the others. Indians can still have a full duration of 485 while my nationality does not have that privilege. Also, the biggest percentage of students are from India and China, while student from my country is only 15% of total Indian student. Yet we are all affected by it.
Yes it is celar the government has indian nationals in their sights and so mauch for being mates!
Hello, Karl. Thank you for the weekly update as usual. It has become my ritual. Just one question. Do you think there will be another targeted 189 invitation round before July? Thanks a million.
Thats the problem, nobody knows but somehow I doubt it
@@ailsaustralia okay let me put in other words. Do you think there will be a round before the new points system, Karl? I am so worried about this new change. Thank you for your help
@@Josephgmark7360 again, no one knows. Not only Karl doesn't know, if you go and ask other migration agent/lawyer, they don't know either. We all want to be surprised like Dec 8, 2022 but that doesn't seem likely.

As someone currently on the 485, I feel for those who will be affected by this law. However, while trying to sign the petition, it wanted me to declare that I was a citizen or resident? Is my signature even going to count?
Temporary resident is considered as resident too :)
Thank you for advocating!
Anybody body living in Australia is considered a resident so yes please sign and get your freinds too!
Then why issuing student visas again?
Hi Karl, do you have any idea when the details of point reform will be released? I thought it would be released on the 14th of May but it seems not.
I think they wont announce it till July or later and then put it out there for public comment, so it will be a while yet before anything changes
Thank you so much for this information. I want to ask what visa categories can I apply to come to write the AMC exam part 1 in Australia because there is no exam center in Nigeria. I would also love to travel with my husband and daughter.
Literally Australian immigration system has exhausted my patience. Waiting for visa grant since 15 months and Suddenly DHA demands 400$ for overseas assessment for qualifications.
How long will it take Sir?
Not sure which visa you mean but I can understand how you feel
Hi Karl
As Australia's New Point system coming soon in July.
So the people who are going to submit their EOI before JULY are also going to effect with this new point system now ?
No chance the new point system will being by July since there has been no consultation process so far
My bet is points system change will affect all lodged EOI equally, regardless of when the EOI was lodged. As for when the change will take into effect? Only time will tell.
@estellebright2579 yes you are right. No one knows when the new point system will change.
To many people taking advantage of the system ai will take most of jobs any way something that work 24 seven no sick days no holiday pay no hanging overs replace the whole floor of the company who would you invest in? Only time
Maybe we shall see
What a sad day for the 'Bachelors' ... YaY for the Masters and PHD students.
Arab nations employed many workers from South Asia and other parts as contractual but never give them PR or passport, they earned, send money to Homeland and left after finished their contract.... this is not a bad idea for both parties
It works for them
Why they singled out Indians and Chinese nationals? Some British are saying that Indians didn't want the British in India but gladly followed them to Australia. It's confusing that so many nationals can coexist with British in Australia and in the UK but can not tolerate British in their own country. I can't wrap my head around these people including the frequent changes in immigration policy. So many of my friends are just dragging day in, day out, in Australia with nothing tangible just high hope.
SOunds confusing that's for sure

Karl, could you please make a new video about claiming points before deemed skill assessment ? We know that it is prohibited for NSW, but how about other states? Did you have any visa refusal for that? Thanks
We have not had any issues with other states or the 189 visa. As far as we know only NSW has that issue
I applied tourist visa for taking osce exam they refused 2 times , they told they are not satisfied even though approval given by ahpra , osce exam can only be taken australia but they are not allowing

Hey @Karl Thanks for keeping us in loop of the new updates from the government. What is your take on when will the Grants start again as we have the quota announcement now. As there is still a huge backlog. Thanks in advance
They have probably reached their lanning levels for grants already so are waiting for the new FY to begin to begin granting again, hang in there
It is usual for this time of year nothing happens. They wil fire up again in July
What about australian citizen partner who waiting overseas ? Who already have their place in australia but still waiting for visa from last 2 years but government always ignore them 😢
