Its Hell! The stress, the pain and the disappointment that we are going on. Trust is lacking every way! Thanks Satya for opening up and taking what needs to be!
Vote with your wallet and feet to respond to Australian governments rejection to migrants. Let them know migrants coming to Australia is not something taken for granted. I doubt Australia will still be attractive after these years of migration reforms given the volatility of the policy and flip-flop across the government agencies and relevant bodies.
@@estellebright2579 Canada is also tightening up. The US does not offer clear pathways. Europe is already in crisis and language barrier is there. So what do you think is the other option available to people? They know this and also know that the demand of Australia is going very strong. It is going to increase in future in fact.
@@punjabiaussie11 this is a trend worldwide currently yes. However, you also have to know every major international education market is racing to the bottom. Whoever retains the trust to international students despite adverse environment will win out in the long run, and to me Australia is showing no willingness of being part of that group. Crisis handling is tough and challenging, yet the one doing well will prevail.
Thank you Karl, many of us feel anxious and depressed. It is really unfair to leave us no transition period. It is a big decision to leave our home countries to pursue study opportunities here in Australia. This abrupt change has brought tremendous despair to many families. Hope Australian government would think twice the consequences and reputation before making such policies.
Australian government would have to think years or even decades ahead and truly weight the long term adverse consequences versus short term relief to the housing crisis. Neither Liberal nor Labor is capable of thinking like that. Fingers crossed but I would not hold my breath for that. Still, the petition will be presented to the parliament so let’s see how it goes.
We are truly grateful to Karl and Satya for speaking up on our behalf. It's our hope that the government recognizes the potential harm that unjust policies can bring to the lives of so many.
We are the masters of coursework students who enrolled before 2024. We have been in pain, hopelessness, and psychological struggle since the announcement of the new age cap. We don't understand why the government didn't include us in the new visa like they did for masters by research. We still hope that the government will do something for us; we came here based on the promise to have access to work so we could gain work experience and be eligible for global opportunities. Thank you, Karl, for your support; it is the light at the end of a dark tunnel.
I understand it feels dark but there is pressure for the government to do the obvious right thing here and to make a complete mess of thier management. Hang in there
Hi Karl, After 6 years in Australia, a few degrees, research work etc, I have left Australia. I was lucky that I had an option, many dont. Thanks for your great support.
Thank you so much, Nuwan. Also, much grateful to Karl and AILS for doing what they do so consistently (an art that has gone missing in mainstream media). Hopefully all of us together will force the government to see reason and kindle their conscience.
You are a good man Karl. I remember having a conversation with you just over a year ago. You gave me hope and direction whilst outlining the slim chances. Told me to persevere and it paid off. Got invited for the 491- lodged on 30 June 2023.
I am not 35. But I can understand how painful it would be for students who won't get to work after graduating. Almost all countries around the globe give a post-study stay back opportunity, it's hard to fathom how the govt would make such a contrasting decision. edit: petition signed.
Hi Karl, why the government is showing such a huge discrimination to masters by coursework ? these masters by coursework course graduates like nurses, laboratory scientist, social workers , biotechnologist ...etc are very indeed professionals for a country and avoiding them simply. So only research students are good for their future .why such discrimination? Really lost our trust on this government. 😔. Atleast they could have excluded current students, then it will be so nice. Thank you Karl for supporting and raising voice for us . ❤❤
Thank you Karl for taking up the cause and Satya for voicing out our feelings. I had many countries to choose from, but I chose Australia; I also had much easier course to choose from, but I chose Master of IT (AI) because of how the Australian Government advertised and marketed it, saying that IT was a priority sector and I would be given 5 years of TR visa. Now forget about 5 years, the Immigration Department is not even willing to give a TR visa. If this policy does come throught then I regret falling into this fake scheme; I should not have never come here; I should have used my time and life-saving somewhere else and done something else or continued on my job; this would have been better than getting the feeling of falling for false promise and daylight ripe off. I can't believe that first-world country like Australia is trying to do something like this, it is just unbelievable. If the Immigration Department asks for something which I can change and improve, I would happily do it, but how can I change my age? It is impossible, and picking on this makes me feel so low and old, and frankly, 35 is not very old in this 21st century. I have only one semester left, but now I am just confused as to what to do, should I continue, should I quit, should I fail, so many questions. Till now, I have performed well in my academics, but this semester has been a mess, all thanks this news. Anyway, I have been here for a while, and what I have know is that Australians are good people with big hearts who believe in Australian values of fairness and equality, and I hope this government gives us at least one chance and upholds this values.
having a transition is the least they can do, but they still have alot to answer for the visa fraud of offering something they never indended to keep their promise on
Thanks. I know how you feel. The government has heaped misery on international students with this needless change. So, instead of focusing on getting "quality education", students have been forced to do their income-expense math past six months. No country has done this ever to existing students. Very fickle and ill-conceived policy.
Who decided that Master's by coursework holders do not deserve the 485 visa if they are older than 35? I did not have an option to choose between coursework and research when I applied two years ago. Of course, I would have chosen differently if I had known they would change the rules for current students.
Hi Karl Thank you for the video And Hatts off to Satya We as international students give more than we take !!! We have selected Australia for its history of humanity and transparency! Our studies will not be completed without the international work exposure and if it was not promised and committed at the time of our investment we would have never had selected this country for our studies.. we seek fairness to those who are already in the country and as Satya mentioned you may take these precautions to future students We urge government to implement the grandfathering clause !!!
Thanks a lot. Let us watch this space closely and aid Karl and AILS with the lead they have taken on this. For starters, international students can urge people who believe in this cause to sign the petition to take it past 20,000 signatures.
This is kind of similar to what happened in 2020 - Victoria shut down the PhD PR pathway without notice, leaving doctoral candidates with little hope of receiving a PR. Of course we had other visa options, but what’s the point of spending 3.5-4 (or even more) years getting a PhD when clearing the NAATI test and completing a PY gave us a better chance of getting a permanent visa? I guess the message is clear - education doesn’t matter. What matters is your age, and how much you pay in taxes…
Thank you Karl for your continued support. Thank you satya . I am in a similar situation to yours. I am mentally depressed. It would have been more appropriate for Australia to implement new rules for prospective students rather than those who have already begun their studies.
I would like to thank you Karl for wholehearted support to raise our voice. Whereas I myself got relief with the last week update, my heart goes with thousands of students like Satya who still were left behind. I hope sense will prevail and all existing students, irrespective of their degree, will be waived off from this new rule.
Yes too much change without thinking about the impact on those here and now benifits knowbody. Rules like these need a long phasing in period to treat everyone fairly
Agreed. They want students to study, but if mental health stress and visa stress are on students' minds, they cannot study. Students need good mental health to perform better in their studies.
Karl you and others around the nation who take up this cause are truly putting the country first. Thank you for everything you do and thank you for posting every week. Your program is just as important as any public affairs program we have in the country.
Thanks for that support much appreciated. It all seems an issue that is just so stupid and obvious that needs to be resolved and people needed to be treated like any Australian would expect to be treated.
I have also invested my life savings to come here to pursue my study and I have never imagined that such kind of policy change will happen in such a developed country where transparency and fairness is given top priority. Hoping for best
Australia offers a B or C class education and markets it like A class. An Australian degree is not worth more than toilet paper in India. The only reason students would spend hundreds of thousands in Australia is if they get some assurance to stay here and recoup their investments. I came to Australia 25 years ago when it was not so difficult. I feel sorry for these individuals getting ripped off by the Australian government.
I know master research and PhD students should be given priority to stay for longer duration and have less restrictive age rules in place since universities' business model is obviously highly dependent on the research funding (where PhD students come to generate) and paying students/ scholarships from overseas. Master Research and PhD students generate the cash on both sides. But let's not forget the fact that the mature-aged students are the ones who will balance out the needs of the workforce in the trades sector, of which the Australian government always said is short. Especially those in VET sector with higher qualifications and expectations gap. Younger students apparently are more prone to get exploited due to lesser experience in maneuvering through the complexity of their career path and life. I think the Australian government is just overlooking this fact, and desperate to get a quick fix on just a few numbers.
Thanks Karl for your ongoing support. this is clear age discrimination and unfair to those who chose Australia based on the previous rules. Many had other options but picked Australia for the promised post-graduate visa. It's shocking to see such an unjust policy here. Age is something beyond one's control, so changing the rules based on this factor makes no sense!
Politics is a dirty game even in 🇦🇺. Politicians are making Australians think that all problems will be gone if migration is cut, just in time for upcoming elections, Federal and State (Queensland).
Let them realise without immigrants they cannot keep their system working, they need our money without our money Australia will face more inflation with a lot of Australiana receiving money from Centrelink.
Thank you Karl for sharing solidarity and justice for students who are impacted. The move made by the government literally lacks the substance taking us back to the uncivilised era of Stone Age.
It certainly is!. Its so embarrassing to be an Australian at the moment. I feel professionals like myself should be helping as much as they can, shame they do not
Karl, please continue advocating against the age limit for master's by coursework students. Your program has a more influential voice compared to others. The age limit for these students should be at least 45 years. Imagine two friends, both 36 years old, living together in the same room-one pursuing a master's by coursework and the other a master's by research. Having an age limit of 35 years for one and 50 years for the other creates an unfair and distressing situation for roommates sharing the same space.
Hi Karl. Thank you for your videos. You are amazing. Could you please give us an update on 191 visa processing times? They seem to have a backlog again or simply change the processing times.
Thank you Karl and SATYA for making this video Age cap for current students irrespective of their level of study is truely unfair, Australia government should make a provision for transition arrangements for current students
Thank you Karl. 39 yr old carpentry study here- I hope the Aussie govt changes its mind on the 485 visa so I can help build homes in Queensland post graduation!
Hi Helena yes we are hoping indeed. Your story would be good to share with everyone on the channel and those in the department watching. Please send an email t the office with your phone number if you would like to participate in a zoom inerview
All this finally made me realize that no matter how much glitter there seems to be abroad, own homeland is always the best. Going back with newfound appreciation for my country
Was talking yesterday to one of the staff at my sons kindergarten, who is just finishing his studies in Melbourne to become a kindergarten teacher. He was in Sri Lanka visiting family and his wife and son were going to stay one more week. He told me his wife and sons visa's have been cancelled and now stuck in Sri Lanka. I dont know the reason for the cancellation as i dont think he understood why. The manager has found him a local Imogration lawyer so we have to wait and see what will happen to him and his family.
Excellent Karl! I can't thank you more for whatever you're doing for us (The helpless/trapped/cheated international students!) Well done Satya too, well said! We really invested our life savings in Australia not to be mistreated this way, we have dreams of becoming a strong part of the workforce here after study. It would be impossible to trust this system again for the rest of the world. shame ...
Thanks for fighting with us, Karl. My heart goes out to Masters coursework students. Is there a way we can support them? We should try and speak up for them too.
At least the currently enrolled international students deserve a transition period for the implementation of new immigration policy. Still confident that Government will not breach the trust.
Under the stress and pain ...with hope we came to Australia and immediately our dreams are crashed in a minute...of many choices.. Australia was welcoming and humane but depressed with loan payback... going through pain and stress... hoping for the best...in trust ...
It has become a too high risk and very discourage for international students to pursuit a high degree course in Australia. Regulations have changed so much that today you make up a plan to stay, but then none of it will matter anymore tomorrow. I also get struggle for pay a course that was said to be one of the few that could lead IS for extension 485, but now again, nothing matter. The government is playing and make international student as a money bag. And now I'm pretty sure that I made the worst choice to move and study here.
Masters by coursework does not create new knowledge except a short dissertation. Masters by research creates new knowledge. Having said this, I do feel sorry for those who are facing financial ruin. However, I do believe pursuit of education should be an end on its own and not as a conduit for further ends e.g. migration. Study, work, gain experience and then apply for migration offshore.
I decided to migrate to Australia because I thought their immigration laws are admirable, well-thought-out, and uncomplicated. Every time I consider the prospect that the money I put in completing a thorough EOI may be wasted, I get shivers down my spine because of the recent changes made to certain regulations without prior consultation. Karl, I sincerely appreciate you providing all of these insights and speaking for the voiceless.
It's unexpected from a nation like Australia. Why can't the government provide a grandfathered clause to resolve this distress? Are we burdensome to such an extent? As a single mother who came to Australia on a student visa, I invested my hard-earned money with the expectation of a return on my investment. Otherwise, I would have been financially secure in my home country like most international students here. I trust that the current state of distress will not result in severe repercussions that could tarnish Australia's longstanding reputation in the realm of human rights.
Sir, I appreciate your insight and hard work regarding the issue of the PSW for international students aged above 35. You have practically demonstrated your valuable experience in achieving success for international students. I hope you can address the remaining issues as well. Triple Gem bless you. 👏👏
Thank you for keeping us updated and inspiring us! Just like Satya, I came to Australia studying for a Master's degree based on the information that I'll be eligible for 485 visa for post-study working experience, and with one year of study still ahead of me, the change to age limit hit me really hard because I am in my 40s. I don't think I'll come back to Australia to do business or travel again if I'm deprived of the rights to apply for 485 visa due to the new age limit, simply because it makes no sense to make economic contributions to a country that shows no compassion and keeps lying and cheating people.
Learning and education is age-agnostic. One believed that a "modern" Australian society would never make age a barrier. How wrong were our beliefs! Anyways, I believe most international students who are handed this blunt policy will be influencers and decision makers tomorrow. Australia should, therefore, treat them well. As a I read recently, the entire "blame international students" policy is devoid of statecraft.
I am with the perception that the 485 visa changes have been finalized. I could see a bold note at the end saying "Any applications lodged on or after 1 July 2024 will be assessed under the new requirements". Is there still a glimmer of hope for IS above 35 years of age?
Hi karl, and everyone Implementing such a rule in the midst of ongoing programs is not only disruptive but also unfair to students who have already invested substantial amounts of time, effort, and financial resources. Many of us chose to study in this country based on the previously established guidelines, and a sudden shift in policy undermines the trust and planning that are fundamental to such a significant life decision. While policy changes are sometimes necessary, it is crucial that they are applied prospectively, giving future students the information and choice to plan accordingly. This allows them to make informed decisions about their educational paths without having their dreams abruptly altered. We respectfully urge the government to reconsider this decision and explore ways to implement changes without adversely affecting current students.
Grattan Institute needs to touch grass. Their policy recommendations about student visas are so flawed. Didn't even take into account the particularities of Higher Degree by Research students and lumped us together with undergrads and VET people.
Thanks, Karl. We have been feeling deeply stressed and disheartened since the announcement of this policy. Firstly, this policy is completely unreasonable as it discriminates based on age. Additionally, it has completely disrupted our career and life plans. We chose our education program based on the circumstances at that time, and it feels very unfair that the Australian government can change it without reason, disregarding the impact on people who have already come to Australia and invested their money and effort.
Hospitals in Australia are in the Yellow level state of emergency and Medical degrees are masters by coursework, so while the LHNs are inviting overseas trained doctors to work in Australia, Australia trained doctors will be booted because of age. Before you tell me about the 407 option, let me tell you I spoke to multiple LHNs who told me categorically they would prefer someone with a 485 or another visa that they don’t have to sponsor. So if you want a medical internship and you’re over 35, you may be preferred less than someone with a 189 or another work visa that can be applied from offshore
@@ailsaustralia what’s even more weird is that networks are willing to sponsor a 407 for overseas trained doctors to be advanced trainees and RMOs but not Australia trained medical students for internship. They’re lit saying go anywhere and finish an internship and we’ll then invite you back here and even give you an allowance to move and work here but we won’t sponsor a visa for your internship if you don’t get a 485. I can’t wrap my head around the logic
Hi Karl. Neil said last year that high work experience will be preferred. But nothing reveal any positive sign. What they are doing and what they planning? All system disappointing. 😢
Thanks Karl, you are really our HERO. I totally agree and admire what coming from Satya. You are the voice of international students, are being discriminated by Australia government!!!
Thank you Karl a lot for always fighting for us. Thank you Satya, you said what we want to say. Hope the government reconsider and make a transition for us.
Thanks karl i am now in pain and really concerned about this i’m 39 years old and taking master in coursework hoping to get a valuable experience in australia but i i feel him because we being dupe
Thanks for being our voice and showing empathy! I met amazing mentors , employers and friends in Australia who I can trust but this sudden change of 485 feels like breach of trust. Could you please let me know if there is a group I could join? I'm currently doing a Master's degree by course work. Although I have a full-time job offer after completing my course, I'm uncertain if I can proceed. I had hoped for a 485 visa. Now, I feel completely lost and don't want to burden my prospective employer with visa sponsorship. This situation feels unfair and cruel; I've invested my life savings and was hoping for a return on investment.
So much grateful to Karl and Satya for voicing out the current situation and emotions of International students in Australia. Hopefully this voice would be heard and the Government would remain true to their words of TR visa or provide the student with transition period.
Thanks for your video updates Karl. But honestly, I feel I have wasted my years and time here in Australia. The promises made does not add up. I was in the process of getting a sponsorship based on the old TSMIT, and since new changes are coming in soon, my sponsorship has landed in jeopardy as per the new TSMIT. Employer says they cannot adjust to the new levels given. Glad that I am leaving this country for good soon and look elsewhere.
I feel so depressed. Did masters and moved from Sydney to regional area and struggled to find job in regional. Now finished my PY course and did pte and skill assessment. Applied 190, 491 and 189 and waiting for 1 year in 90 POINTS. Now I applied for student visa and waiting for visa and pregnant and this is so stressful. Paid a lot of money again to apply student visa.
Petition signed, it's still nice to see that your voice/ vote matter as an individual in this country. I am Spanish, been here for 5 years, worked hard as hell as all of us foreigners and as some Australians but not as all of them, I'm sorry but this is what I have seen in these years. We work all the jobs that Aussies don't want to work, I can easily say we feed them, we house them, we take care of them, we teach them... darn, we work everywhere. And still, they can't see they would be doomed if we weren't here working for the country, to thrive and grow, and improve. Instead, the PMs blame us for what THEY can't sort! while we are keeping the country running! I wish we could all strike a week or leave so they could cry again as when everyone left for CO vi d, how desperate they were to get workers... This is ridiculous. My field is hospitality, went from student visa, to covid visa working 60 to 70 hours a week because we had no people to work. I was located in Sydney, relocated to QLD to try 491 nomination, it didn't work but got 482, still waiting for it to be granted or not. I am living now in Sunshine Coast. I can tell you guys QLD is not full, there are no traffic jams to move around from there to go north, we struggle to find workers for the hotel, 80% of our staff is from overseas! Even my boss is fed up with Australians because they don't want to work, they call in sick every 2nd day... And this guy has the balls to say we don't need workers? I loved Australia when I got here because it looked like politicians and economics were dealt differently than in my country, but I had to say the last 2 years, we are getting worse, and I have asked my Australian friends for reference and they agree with me, independently of the party they support. It is a joke... honestly. Stay strong everyone. Sorry about the long ranting but they really made me laugh... it's ridiculous
I've given up stressing about this, it is what is, ultimately we are but foreigners who hope to become part of your country. We should not be entitled to anything, however, I do feel it is unfair that new changes affect people who have already enrolled due to the promises made by the previous policy, I believe the previous policy should be honored for anyone who is enrolled as a student under those conditions, but for future students they certainly should consider other possibilies and if I was in their boat, I would overlook Australia.
I agree. Previous policy should be honored especially for us who already started the course and who have invested all our best and future to be part of this country
Thank you Karl. While I appreciate changes, it is disheartening to take away upfront right abruptly. Can’t imagine how unfairly international students are treated in particular the biggest ever age discrimination. It has come hard on me and my family by revoking the offer Australian government once committed to all international students when they desperately needed and showing the disrespect when government achieved what they needed
The 73150 is the nail in the coffin. Very unfortunate a lot of skilled migrants will go home. Guess regional business owners have to find new ways to service the clients
Hey mate, what do you make of the grattan institute reformed points test ? I’m currently on 85 points as a boat builder. Using their model I wouldn’t even be able to apply. Very troubling.
Thank u satya and karl .. fr making this video.. as satya said its vry true that an international student spends his life savings in australia so they should not be treated like this..
We can not believe what the basis of selecting above 35 age only for Master (Research) and PhD students only for 485 visa. Since we all have invested significant amounts of money and worked hard towards achieving internationally recognized masters (Coursework). We still hope the government will introduce a grandfather clause for existing students in Australia. We can not believe this sudden implementation while we are promised 7 years post-study visa when we apply.
The government has done this for Masters of research and PhD as this is an area of expertise that is sort in Australia. Also, someone doing a PhD. in medical or environmental research is more likely to get employment in that University, hospital or laboratory with a parth way to PR and citizenship. The number of students doing these Masters and PhD. are in small numbers, so it doesn't really change the governments imogration numbers. Unfortunately, the government will do what it thinks the people will vote for in an election, and it's popular to blame students instead of the investors coming in buying up all the houses. Government shouldn't allow anyone who isn't a PR or citizen to buy property, then their would be enough homes.
I wish I have never come here to pursue my Masters Degree if I had known that I am not eligible for the TGR visa. I have invested everything I have to come here. However, people like you gives us hope to get ourselves treated fairly. Thank you Karl as you have always been a beacon of hope for us. And i also thank Satya for being the voice for thousands of us who are in the same circumstances as yours. I join the community affected by the new age criteria to request the government of Australia to please allow the enrolled students to apply for 485 visa irrespective of course and age.
Limited means the government can still change the rules if they want to. It seems that AU does not want students to stay further in AU. Isn’t we are at this mess because also of those dodgy students? I dont think that housing crisis is related to all of these. That was just an excuse from the government.
And 491 Tsmit is also painful for people who have fines everything to be in regional work in all conditions in their work place . We also deserve the invitations
Hi Karl, i just finished my master degree, if I apply for 485 visa will I come under the old rules? Where i will get 5 years, after 1st July I’ll get 2 years.
I am in 1 st semester and it has come to an end now. Hearing 485 visa age cap has mentally traumatized me since I got here early Feb. If I have know about it earlier I would have changed my education destination and get the refund.
Hi Karl, watch your show every friday. My passport is about to expire in 7 months and my 190 lodged application from May 23 still in recieved status. Should i renew passport? Is it allowed?
I started having panic attacks. I bet everything on Australia-my family, my health, my funds-and it seems like I'm losing everything. I'm thinking of leaving Australia permanently. I'm on a 408 visa. The 408 visa was introduced to help the government fill positions that no one was ready to fill. We helped Australia during the most difficult time during COVID, and now the government wants to dump all 408 and 485 visa holders.i can't get admission , universities are not accepting no more options for a new visa. Once government used us they want to dump us.
Atleast the policy should not be implemented on the existing students bcoz they have already contributed to the economy. No one will have faith in government of Australia in future.
Hi Karl.. I hold a multiple entry visitor visa and is valid till next year. It has a 3 month max stay condition. This year I lodged nsw 190 from offshore. I am planning to go to Melbourne on my current visitor visa to stay with my relatives there and also get my grant for 190 there itself. I have 2 queries- 1. Is there a way to extend my stay on visitor visa without have to go out of Australia every 3 months or can i switch to any other visa for a continues stay 2. How do i inform the department that i am onshore as offshore pr applicants have a first entry date while onshore don't have on their grant letters
Its Hell! The stress, the pain and the disappointment that we are going on. Trust is lacking every way! Thanks Satya for opening up and taking what needs to be!
It is terrible what they are doing and yes our gratitude for Satya for speaking out. Still hoping for a good result to come for all of you affected

Thanks for signing! There decision is too crazy I know
Hi Karl, why the government is showing such a huge discrimination to masters by coursework ? these masters by coursework course graduates like nurses, laboratory scientist, social workers , biotechnologist ...etc are very indeed professionals for a country and avoiding them simply. So only research students are good for their future .why such discrimination? Really lost our trust on this government. 😔.
Atleast they could have excluded current students, then it will be so nice.
Thank you Karl for supporting and raising voice for us . ❤❤
Everyone is still hoping they will come to their senses and realise the damage they are causing cannot continue. Thanks for the support
Thank you Karl for being just, logical and empathic against injustice and discrimination
Who decided that Master's by coursework holders do not deserve the 485 visa if they are older than 35? I did not have an option to choose between coursework and research when I applied two years ago. Of course, I would have chosen differently if I had known they would change the rules for current students.
Yeah I know, whoever made this decision should be sacked. We need normal human beings to run this department
Exactly, it is a ridiculous joke, how do they take decisions back and forward with no sense is just ridiculous
Hi Karl
Thank you for the video
And Hatts off to Satya
We as international students give more than we take !!!
We have selected Australia for its history of humanity and transparency! Our studies will not be completed without the international work exposure and if it was not promised and committed at the time of our investment we would have never had selected this country for our studies.. we seek fairness to those who are already in the country and as Satya mentioned you may take these precautions to future students
We urge government to implement the grandfathering clause !!!
Yes hats off indeed to Satya!
Thanks a lot. Let us watch this space closely and aid Karl and AILS with the lead they have taken on this. For starters, international students can urge people who believe in this cause to sign the petition to take it past 20,000 signatures.
Thank you karl and satya. May i please ask for the link
Yes that is the way it should have happened and still can happen
Thanks Deb. Hopefully, this will also get across the line with Karl's leadership on this and all of our efforts.
I would like to thank you Karl for wholehearted support to raise our voice. Whereas I myself got relief with the last week update, my heart goes with thousands of students like Satya who still were left behind. I hope sense will prevail and all existing students, irrespective of their degree, will be waived off from this new rule.
Since the day when migration strategy was announced, I had sleepless nights and couldn’t concentrate on my studies. I am still having nightmares!!!
me the same , the visa policy changing make me feel the pricy study here is worthless
Yes you are right it should never have happened and we are hoping someone in the department has some decency left to do the right thing
No it does not and you the Minister should take responsibility for inflicting so much pain on so many people.
Thanks karl, and satya this gives a little positivity to all those stressed minds 🙏
Thanks, Valli. Hope in the end it turns out the way it should. No student or any human must go through this.
It's important noone should feel on their own on this issue, we are are all joining forces together
Politics is a dirty game even in 🇦🇺.
Politicians are making Australians think that all problems will be gone if migration is cut, just in time for upcoming elections, Federal and State (Queensland).
It is indeed a preety short minded affair using migration numbers. I don't think it will be sustainable for them to keep it up
Let them realise without immigrants they cannot keep their system working, they need our money without our money Australia will face more inflation with a lot of Australiana receiving money from Centrelink.
Yes indeed that is very distressing and of course should not have been allowed to happen in the first place. It's not over yet!
Hi Karl. Thank you for your videos. You are amazing. Could you please give us an update on 191 visa processing times? They seem to have a backlog again or simply change the processing times.
Thank you Karl and SATYA for making this video
Age cap for current students irrespective of their level of study is truely unfair, Australia government should make a provision for transition arrangements for current students
Yes indeed, there is still hope. Thanks for your support
thanks, devender!
Karl is my fav aussie 👋
Thanks, much appreciated
Indeed truly a human
Amen. Our rock and number 1 supporter
Great Job Carl... in reporting and standing with us.... Satya more power to you bro. I totally understand what you might be feeling.😢
Thanks for both of us for your support!
Thank you, Imran!
Sounds disturbing for them, hope it works out
Excellent Karl!
Yes they sure do deserve that as a minimum and yes too we hope there is basic humanity still there in the government somewhere to be found.
Under the stress and pain ...with hope we came to Australia and immediately our dreams are crashed in a minute...of many choices.. Australia was welcoming and humane but depressed with loan payback... going through pain and stress... hoping for the best...in trust ...
Hope that that stress and pain can be fixed easily by the department that has the power to do so
😢
It has become a too high risk and very discourage for international students to pursuit a high degree course in Australia. Regulations have changed so much that today you make up a plan to stay, but then none of it will matter anymore tomorrow. I also get struggle for pay a course that was said to be one of the few that could lead IS for extension 485, but now again, nothing matter. The government is playing and make international student as a money bag. And now I'm pretty sure that I made the worst choice to move and study here.
what degree did you chose?
Sorry to hear that and yes this government has destroyed the trust in the system. Lets hope they realise that soon and make some reversals
@@ailsaustraliayep will stay with positive hopes
Karl, I sincerely appreciate you providing all of these insights and speaking for the voiceless.
thank u karl and satya for making this video ❤❤ but i do not understand what about the petition made?
Best to have a read
It's unexpected from a nation like Australia. Why can't the government provide a grandfathered clause to resolve this distress? Are we burdensome to such an extent? As a single mother who came to Australia on a student visa, I invested my hard-earned money with the expectation of a return on my investment. Otherwise, I would have been financially secure in my home country like most international students here. I trust that the current state of distress will not result in severe repercussions that could tarnish Australia's longstanding reputation in the realm of human rights.
TSML AUD 70,000 was as if not high enough for some occupations, it has Increased to AUD 73,150. Good Luck everyone.
Soon it will just oo high for most businesses
Sorry to hear but of course we expect common sense to prevail. Stay tuned
I am with the perception that the 485 visa changes have been finalized. I could see a bold note at the end saying "Any applications lodged on or after 1 July 2024 will be assessed under the new requirements". Is there still a glimmer of hope for IS above 35 years of age?
It is easy to place in a transition arrangement so yes there is still hope
Hi karl, and everyone
Implementing such a rule in the midst of ongoing programs is not only disruptive but also unfair to students who have already invested substantial amounts of time, effort, and financial resources.
They should not be allowed to for in reality it is a fraudulant act and must be called out for what it is
I love ur content. Really good and informative. TY u for helping us to rise our voice and displayed all the s*** that have been done by the gov
They declared on the immigration website that applications made on or after 1 July 2024 will be assessed under new requirements in bold letters.
Yes I know the situation is crazy and should not be allowed to let happen. It's not over yet
Hi Karl, Could you provide an update on Visa Subclass 476?
Thanks Karl, you are really our HERO. I totally agree and admire what coming from Satya. You are the voice of international students, are being discriminated by Australia government!!!
Thanks. I hope this is rectified soon.
@@satyanarayaniyer777 Hope for all
Thank you Karl a lot for always fighting for us. Thank you Satya, you said what we want to say. Hope the government reconsider and make a transition for us.
Thanks. In it, together.
Thanks karl i am now in pain and really concerned about this i’m 39 years old and taking master in coursework hoping to get a valuable experience in australia but i i feel him because we being dupe
Satya has spoken extremely eloquently on this concern. Its certainly going to create a lose-lose situation in the long run !
Thank you!
Thank you karl and satya for being the voice of international students. God bless you both more
Thank you!
Lets see what still unfolds and the pressure is on for a transition period
Hi Karl I signed the petition but I am not an Australian resident or citizen so is that fine ?
So much grateful to Karl and Satya for voicing out the current situation and emotions of International students in Australia. Hopefully this voice would be heard and the Government would remain true to their words of TR visa or provide the student with transition period.
Thanks for the kinds words. We expect the government to hold true to thier word, that is for sure.
Thank you.
Thank you Karl to talk about us
Thanks Karl and Satya!
Thank you!
Thats ok, thanks for for trying to support everyone for we are are all in this together
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Australia government knew our age before we came here. They saw our age and promised us a postgraduate visa.
Yes they did and it should be a crime to commit visa promise fraud
They never did. Its Australia.
What a nice saying of him
yes it was
Yeah I also don’t want to stay here, I invested all I had and at last we are slapped left and right.
Yes you are right, we can all respect the need for change but when you make offers to students ti must be honoured.
I agree. Previous policy should be honored especially for us who already started the course and who have invested all our best and future to be part of this country
Thanks as always karl
Thank you Satya for speaking on our behalf.
Thanks Neha. Hope they listen and right all their wrongs of last six months on all sub-sections of hard-working international students.
Yes very thankful he could add his thoughts and voice to the debate
Thank you Karl. While I appreciate changes, it is disheartening to take away upfront right abruptly. Can’t imagine how unfairly international students are treated in particular the biggest ever age discrimination. It has come hard on me and my family by revoking the offer Australian government once committed to all international students when they desperately needed and showing the disrespect when government achieved what they needed
Yes there is no benifit to the country to damage its reputation but it seems the government has been slow to recognise this
Hi Karl, how much petition count can make impact ?
It all makes a difference!
The 73150 is the nail in the coffin. Very unfortunate a lot of skilled migrants will go home. Guess regional business owners have to find new ways to service the clients
I know it is really crazy to have a TSMIT that suits Sydney and expect that is ok for regional areas too
Hey mate, what do you make of the grattan institute reformed points test ?
I’m currently on 85 points as a boat builder. Using their model I wouldn’t even be able to apply. Very troubling.
That test we circulate today is just a suggestion, not set in stone yet. Don’t worry about it too much at this stage.
Thank you Karl and Satya!
Thank you!
Thanks Mary!
Thank u satya and karl .. fr making this video.. as satya said its vry true that an international student spends his life savings in australia so they should not be treated like this..
No one deserves to be treated like this and yes the consequences are servere in many cases which should not be allowed to occur
DHA has mentioned in their stat book there will be an 189 round this year before the end.
Hi Karl.
Nice job as usual
Thank you again
Yes the very least they should give the 485 visa. Its bad enough they get away with lying to people over the length of the 485 visa promised
Thank you!
You need to move on, it's not the end of the world and look for other opportunities.... Don't just focus in Australia....
Easier said than done when the reason someone is forcing you to move on is based on a fraudulant act.
Because you are not affected mapua. Unlike karl and satya who are with us.
Cut copy paste .... im in exact similar situation like Satya.....
Please help someone..... please I'm super stressed and depressed.....
Yes are all trying our best to help here and will continue to do so. YOU ARE NOT ALONE
Thanks Namrata. I understand your predicament. Hopefully, they will correct it.
What is the fault of master by course work? Strange
I agree raees. Whether masters phd vet and bachelors. We all contribute to australian economy.
Limited means the government can still change the rules if they want to. It seems that AU does not want students to stay further in AU. Isn’t we are at this mess because also of those dodgy students? I dont think that housing crisis is related to all of these. That was just an excuse from the government.
Thanks Satya.
Thanks
Thanks Kedar.
Hi Karl, do you think it is possible for unused visa allocations this FY to carry over to next FY to address the backlog?
No it is not usual. It is strange they don't do that but they should
I am in 1 st semester and it has come to an end now. Hearing 485 visa age cap has mentally traumatized me since I got here early Feb. If I have know about it earlier I would have changed my education destination and get the refund.
Yes I can understand but the fight is not over yet
Truly. We wrestle all in this together
Good morning, is there any update for 309 offshore Visa application
Hi Karl, watch your show every friday. My passport is about to expire in 7 months and my 190 lodged application from May 23 still in recieved status. Should i renew passport? Is it allowed?
Good information Karl. Will IT occupations have any chance of Invitation in next 189 invitation round?
Personally, I dont think so. However we have seen many strange things happen so who knows. Good luck
Will there be 189 invitation round within this FY?
We don't expect so, lets see
Hi Karl, thanks for the update, does 35 years of age or under include those who are under 36 e.g. 35 years upto 11 months at the time of application?
Looks like if you have not turned 36 that should be ok but hope a transition arrangement will solve any worry about the decision ahead of you
Atleast the policy should not be implemented on the existing students bcoz they have already contributed to the economy.
I have 2 queries-
1. Is there a way to extend my stay on visitor visa without have to go out of Australia every 3 months or can i switch to any other visa for a continues stay
2. How do i inform the department that i am onshore as offshore pr applicants have a first entry date while onshore don't have on their grant letters
Please book a time to discuss complex issues
Greetings Carl! Is it true that there will be another 189 round before the end of this FY?
Doubtful but who knows
