Thank you, Mark, for providing us with 8 years of Friendship Shaving. How the time has flown by. You have created a rich body of work and a wealth of information about shaving. Interesting to hear your thoughts on blade lifespan. I wonder just how good the quality control is on such an inexpensive piece of sharp metal as it rolls off the production line. I doubt if blades from the same brand are all identical. There must be some variation between batches. In which case you might be able to get 32 shaves from one blade (in rare cases) and only 3 or 4 shaves from another. As in all things I suppose there are many factors to consider i.e. the razor itself, the slickness of the soap and the thickness of the beard growth. Probably all have some influence on blade life.
I have started putting my thoughts on blades on the Community page and on Instagram. Hopefully I'll build up a fairly decent library of blade information. I have had my ninth shave with this one now and I probably could go to ten. Which must make each shave with these blades exceptionally cheap! I think you are correct on the different factors that affect blade life. It would be interesting to know the thickness of blades and see whether extra thickness gives better or more shaves. Food for thought. Take care, my friend.
@@FriendshipShaving Thanks for your reply to my comment. I follow you on Instagram and subscribe to your UA-cam so I keep up to date with your content. On the subject of blades there is a TV programme called "How It's Made" which covered Razor Blades. The blades episode is also on UA-cam. I didn't know the full process of manufacturing razor blades. You might have already watched it. There is more to making razor blades than I thought. The factory they visited were making "Chroma" blades which I haven't tried.
A fantastic Lone Star State shave, Mark. It really does seem that Steve is pumping out some fantastic aluminium razors. Wishing you and your mum a lovely weekend. Please pass on my regards.
Thank you, Lee. I have been thinking about you and your family. I hope your good wife's operation went well and she is recuperating. Very best wishes, my friend.
@FriendshipShaving thank you so very much, Mark. The operation went well and convalescence has begun. It will take a long time, and I am not going to be less tired or stressed in a hurry.
@ I cannot recall all of the blades I have used in it but I know ones like Filoso, Feather, Bolzano, and Treet Platinum. I found very similar shaves with those - smooth and no irritation.
Hi Mark- Great shave; thank you! Congratulations to you Mark on eight years of producing wonderful content for us each week; it is greatly appreciated! Congrats to all for the excellent give-away, as well. Have a restful weekend, Mark, and sending best regards, as always, my friend!
Hi Mike. I think you, and some of the other gentlemen here, have been with me for a looong time. I just appreciate it very much. In fact I'm going to have to make a video about it. Cheers buddy. Be well.
Hi Pete. I think it has been quite successful. Have you thought od emailing Steve at Alpha. He may have an odd one lying about or have plans to produce more if the demand is there. Good luck.
Congratulations John on your win. Amazing generosity from Chris. Bary from A Texan Shaves is a really great channel. Very authentic and genuine content.
Congrats John!! 👏 🥳🏆 Nice shave Mark! I really that razor's color scheme and the star on the bottom, and it's at a good price point. Great brush handle as well 😎👍 I hope you and your mom have a good weekend! Steve
Oh, thank you Pete. I really appreciate it. I have popped in a brighter light bulb just for the video; it's very bright to my eye but comes out just nice on video. The wallpaper also doesn't show as well on video. Perhaps the camera on my cheap tablet is not the best but I'm happy for the time being! Cheers.
Congratulations to John, the Razor is a true treasure! This Razor you’re using to day is quite handsome Mark, very nice. I can believe your friend got 39 shaves with the blade, and I’ve done that with a Personna blade, keeping it in my Gillette Slim Razor for 6 weeks, shaving daily with it. There was a few times when I skipped a day, and shave after a two day growth. In the end, I was able to get a decent shave with the blade up until the end. However, after about 8 shave, it wasn’t quite as good as it was new, and at about 20 shave it was tugging, but tolerable. At 6 weeks, the blade still shaved my very course stubble, but it was just too uncomfortable. It was an interesting experiment, but I won’t be doing it again. Shaving is a therapeutic pampering-time for me, and the moment I feel a blade start to tug, it goes straight into the blade disposal tin. Best wishes my friend.
It was a handsome blade George to match my good self 😂 I'm love hearing about peoples experiments with blades. Back in the day, as you know, razor blades were very different to todays coated blades and generally there were a lot more people, who were literally dirt poor and needed to get as much from a blade as possible. I count myself very fortunate that like you I can just toss a blade as soon as it gets slight uncomfortable. Take care my friend.
Hi Mark. Thank you so much for another terrific giveaway. I am so excited and delighted to have been picked as the winner in this one. I really appreciate it and all the great content and information in your channel.
Hi Mark, I wanted to let you know, from the 5th of July, a day after my birthday my FB got deleted, since I was in your friendship group, I think my page got hacked, so I'm here speaking to you. I will watch your clip later on mate ❤ Take care Scott 😁
Man, i miss that boat wallpaper! 😞😔 It was gold to me.
Yeah, I'm not so keen on the pink now that it's up - but it's too late now! 😐
