i agree with making offers because the that makes the pirates believe they’ll be able to negotiate (not kill the hostages)… if you just say “we aren’t paying any amount of money” what would stop them from killing them?

What are you even freaking talking about!?? They shouldn't have done that? Really?? 🤡That's what kept them alive you wombat. They have insurance for this, they have well trained and experienced specialists that offered this money, and that offer kept them alive because the booda bodas nooba dooba's saw 1.5M and saw that they were making progress and hung on to get more money. If they didn't make that offer, Jessica and Paul would be dead, and other people would have been taken hostage and killed until someone offered them some real money.

Seal Team 6 is the guys who killed Osama Bin Laden, the members of Seal Team 6 can only be selected to be a member of Seal Team 6 AFTER they have already been an operator on one of the other seal teams for at least 3 years, IF you are selected to undergo the ADDITIONAL training for Seal Team 6, which is far more intense and harsh than BUDS is, EVERY existing member of the team has to approve your joining the team, this is the team that is assigned missions that CAN NOT FAIL, They arrive without being detected, quietly accomplish their mission and then disappear without a trace, weather that mission is a hostage rescue, or killing a high value enemy target, if it has to be done quietly, quickly, and can not fail, these are them men that will be doing it.

My first firefight was in 83 during the Grenada rescue. People run it down, but we got EVERY STUDENT out alive and lost about 19 guys in 72 hours and fought from an airstrip which had ocean on each side and light armor attacking us. I had just turned 18 during jump school. Good way to start. The determination that WE will do anything, no matter what, to protect OUR civilians, you will not know. If those electric bug zappers was the enemy, we would fly into it in the thousands and short it out and the remainder would keep going. For me, it never stopped and in 95, I became a private soldier and only worked for good guys and never asked what the salary was. Its not because I was some super tough guy, it is about love as hard as it is for me to say that word.

To be a Seal you'd have to first become a US Citizen entirely. You have to have really good eyesight, be able to pass physical tests, and obtain a security clearance. You also have to score high enough on the ASVAB at MEPS which is where all new recruits go when enlisting. Then you can attempt to go through the BUD/s process to become a Navy Seal. While at BUD/s you will have to exhibit insane mental and physical toughness. The ability to work as a team and as an individual. Learn how to land nav for miles within a time limit hitting marker check points. I'm sure there are probably other steps there as well. I was Army selection for Special Forces is a bit different.

Naval Special Warfare Development Group (DEVGRU) aka “Seal Team 6” is the #2 top Special Operations team in the United States military.
They specialize in high profile hostage rescue and high value target protection missions.
When someone very important needs protected in a dangerous place or someone important gets kidnapped, Seal Team 6 gets called to handle it.
They don’t usually handle assassination missions but Seal Team 6 got the call to kill Osama bin Laden instead of US Army Delta Force because the Navy Seals just happened to be operating in Afghanistan while Delta was operating in Iraq.
The Jessica Buchanan operation was something DEVGRU was built perfectly for. They have a LONG history of anti-piracy/hostage rescue missions.

If you guys want to check out SEAL Team Six, I would definitely learn about K9 Cairo's story; he was on the Bin Laden raid with SEAL Team Six. His handler, Will Chesney, has done a lot of storytelling about his time with Cairo. He even wrote an amazing book about Ciaro titled "No Ordinary Dog: My Partner from the SEAL Teams to the Bin Laden Raid." Robert O'Neill also does an amazing job of talking about his time in BUD/S and with SEAL Team Six; he's been on many notorious missions such as the Captain Phillips Rescue, rescuing Marcus Luttrell, and even the Bin Laden Raid - he's the SEAL that took out Bin Laden. He does an incredible job at describing that entire night and even the training leading up to it; he even talks about how Cairo and "Cheese" (Will Chesney) were on the Black Hawk with him on their way to UBL's compound.
He wasn't on SEAL Team Six; he was on SEAL Team 3, but Chris Kyle is also a very famous SEAL. He was known as "The Devil of Ramadi," and the movie American Sniper is about him. He was an absolute badass, and he was just incredible. There are so many other well known military men with incredible stories for their selfless acts while overseas that would definitely be very interesting to check out.

DEVGRU (Seal Team 6) only selects from the other Seal Teams, so you already have to be a Seal to join. They also don't recruit from the teams, they select. You have to pass a very tough selection that has a failure rate of apparently 50+% (apparently there was 1 selection where 16 tried and only 2 passed) though there's not a lot of public info on this.

18:09 well you apply to be a SEAL with the Navy, go through and pass SEAL selection, get put in Green team and wait to be selected by a SEAL team, from there I assume they take the best preforming SEALs into SEAL team 6. Not every SEAL is Tier 1. General Discharge has videos on this.

If you ever watch the movie Captain Phillips you'll learn what it really means when the US "Offers" a ransom price. they may have offered it, but they weren't giving it. If the pirates believed the US wouldn't pay they would have no reason to keep the hostage alive. So they make an offer the pirates accept (while also in talks with the Somali government) and then when they get the hostages back, those pirates were either dead, or arrested and brought to America for justice, the Somali government is not even gonna try to dispute it. Captain Richard Phillips was captured and we have one of his captors here in prison, the other 3 tried to execute the captain but were executed themselves simultaneously by Snipers on a ship. Those Snipers were...................SEAL Team 6.

I have doubts that the pirates would have ever been allowed to get that $1.5 million. The SEALS would have struck first. The US cannot let them get paid.

The offer of $1.5 million to release Buchanan was made by the Danish Refugee Council. The DRC is a private humanitarian organization, an umbrella group, that has representatives from around the world.
Nevertheless, the US government backs and supports the most authoritarian regimes on Earth and is intertwined with the world's most notorious terror organizations. There are plenty of videos to react to if you want to develop a basic understanding of how the the USA actually operates. When you're ready to learn, you'll find them.
