As a psyker main who uses a smite build most of the time, it was so painful to hear. If you use the crowd control ability as your main damage dealer, of course you'll think it blows ! Judging a fish by its ability to climb trees and all that. Not to mention how painfully slow that would make the game for yourself and everyone else.
For the longest time i thought wildfire gave 4 stacks of soulblaze to all affected enemies, the second i learned it doesnt its 4 stacks SPLIT between enemies in range i stopped taking it and realized how trash it is, i just assume ppl who take it havent figured it out yet.
And if those enemies have the same number of stacks, they don't spread and the node literally does nothing. And it competes with psykinetic's aura. Absolute joke if a talent.
Its not a bad perk on paper, but their execution of how its implemented has been ass ass. Like thats a good 75% of this game. Great on paper, bad executions.

Great video, and this is my subjective opinion of course, but your videos go from S tier to godlike when you aren't overly mean to the people that you talk to/about. I had a lot of issues with Mister Es videos and it's absolutely necessary to set the record straight, but he also doesn't seem like a bad person (unlike aisan robot) he has a pretty good presentation method so with constructive criticisim he could make enjoyable videos WITH good information. This would be great because a lot of new players turn to him.

Mr. E's channel was recommended by YT, listened to that video for 8-10 minutes, then turned it off cause it just sounded like complete crap of what "feels good" versus "what IS good". As a Vet main, his take on most everything on the tree was OOOOKKKKKK but otherwise just a take of someone who cant think outside the box. It's kinda funny that shitting on Marksman's Focus is a meme since it came out, when its a great keystone for run-gunning with autoguns, yet folks think you need to standstill and horde stacks. Seen the same take on Focus Target, gotta hold it to build stacks meaning you dont use it all that often - these takes I just dont understand, and then those people will say Weapon Specialist is GOAT. Generally not sure if these people dont understand how to play vet or they never thought past what they heard from someone else smh

2:29 Amen to that! Assail is the go to pox horde clear option. Safe to use in an emergency, no charge up time, fast to build Peril. Affects Warp Rider, One With the Warp, Mettle, Warp Expenditure, Perfect Timing and Malefic Momentum. Very powerful Blitz for Psykers getting ready to mulch up a Pox Horde for Psykers that are using a Single Target staff like Surge or Voidstrike. Brain Burst pairs beautifully with Purgatus as Kinetic Flayer is essentially guaranteed to proc the second cooldown is over due to how a single full charged secondary attack counts as an absurd amount of "hits". It's also great with Empowered Psionics at eliminating out of range Elites/Specialists. Smite is great at saving the day in bad situations but needs to be reworked. It can easily stop groups of Crushers though.
I only recently got into Darktide, and not even 60hrs later I find that there is an active warzone in game's community. Love it, reminds me of all the other games I've played

To be fair, assail is a life-saver in auric damnations. As in, when you have hordes of elites and specials, it's just too good to pass up. And with threat generation reduction passives it has great uptime.
It really is not to good to pass up. As you get better at managing hordes with other tools you'll find the to good to give up thing to be psykentics aura.
3:15 To be fair though, Smite as it is is currently broken. It's far too easy to use it as a crutch for bad gameplay decisions. It should be a fire-forget stun attack with a limited amount of charges that regenerate 1 over a minute or something longer, so it has high strategic value but limited spam.
As a new player I enjoy his videos which emphasize survivability and supporting your team(reminds me of your tier list of blitzes/abilties where you split it into casual/sweat). I think there is potentially a difference between your view of hyper sweat optimization and optimization for a newer player. E is also trying to portray his content as meta. That’s the issue. It’s fine if he makes fun builds or theme builds. That’s valid. Doomslayer vet is fun. Martydome zealot is considered fun to some people. But don’t say it’s meta and then not take some of the best nodes in the tree. It’s false info and it’s going to make the surge of new players that are trying to get the most out their builds worse off. Don’t talk about something you have little knowledge/experience in.

52:15 I can vouch for it. I used it initally because it sounded really good on paper but I just could never go up to high peril without extreme sentry-like behaviour of nothing. As Tanner shows. It's so hard to upkeep shriek with it, it genuinely hurts to use (Also it's boring as hell being at high peril is so fun) (Good on paper for a lvl 50 Psyker brewing builds in the basement and ending up making arsenic instead)
A couple of days ago I tried gun psyker with laspistol for the first time ever to try it out and I was on 25 stacks of Disrupt Destiny for most of the time (I'm like level ~40 on psyker btw)
I would never really play psyker like that ( I love the ogryn and branx too much) but goddamn learned more about psyker here than I ever have in my time playing this game.
You had me rolling all video long. Good information plus dumb jokes like "Okay I paused." At 37:46 though regarding Warp Unbound, being able to just sit at 100% peril with all that Scrier's goodness going and just machine gunning out staff attacks is pretty effective. Never with gun psyker, but when you want to play trauma staff like you were talking about it can be a pretty nice little point. +2 sec Scrier's duration for not having to quell when it ends + max warp rider damage + whatever other bonuses you like to take for being at 100% peril. It's not the best point ever but it makes Staff + Scryer a lot more effective.
Honestly, Tanner is my absolute go to for Darktide, and i was afraid he was done with the game and some of his older stuff was out of date possibly. I watched the video this refers to, and thought, “i watched Tanner and Jeficus talk about many abilities (sorry, game lingo is interchangeable) and this is flying in the face of that…. And i know Gun psyker is good, i’ve seen 2 Auric Storm Survivors carry us and basically solo Daemon bounds, that they aggroed on purpose….” So, on my 3rd week of Darktide, on a rough day of failing 3/5 missions, which i am partially at fault for as i am not good at Zealot yet, i’m thrilled to see such a long video from Tanner. I also unsubscribed from the person this video is probably in response to. I also play on Xbox, i have other expenses and can’t afford a good gaming pc, so i have no idea what my “true level mod” for Veteran is, possibly 45? Zealot, i just hit 25.

Says that pysker doesn't have much stamina even though they are the best class to spam push attacks, tank more than anyone unless it's a slab shield, and you are the most dangerous person imaginable, crazy man with a knife. If you can't melee then don't play psyker, literally don't play the class untill you can melee cause if you can't then you'll absolutely will suffer if you need to melee to defend yourself.
I've been playing with empryic resolve. It's new so I gave it a chance, and the spamming surge staff felt nice. But that toughness nerf and difficulty keeping the crit chance above the 60% threshold was kind of wonky. Is tanner the closest thing the darktide community has to peer review?

I want to add to the discussion about Wildfire because I feel like you undersold the bad thing for once Tanner hahaha😅. Imagine you're targeting an enemy with 20 stacks of Soulblaze. However, only four of those stacks can spread effectively. These four viable stacks are divided among all targets within range, meaning it’s more likely for each of the four enemies to receive just one stack of Soulblaze rather than having one enemy accumulate all four stacks. Additionally, if there are more than four enemies-which is often the case in missions-there's a significant chance that some enemies may not receive any Soulblaze at all. This raises the question: what’s the benefit of using Wildfire? I would argue that Wildfire is potentially one of the worst, if not the absolute worst, nodes in the Psyker's tree.

As a Vet main, his take on most everything on the tree was OOOOKKKKKK but otherwise just a take of someone who cant think outside the box. It's kinda funny that shitting on Marksman's Focus is a meme since it came out, when its a great keystone for run-gunning with autoguns, yet folks think you need to standstill and horde stacks. Seen the same take on Focus Target, gotta hold it to build stacks meaning you dont use it all that often - these takes I just dont understand, and then those people will say Weapon Specialist is GOAT. Generally not sure if these people dont understand how to play vet or they never thought past what they heard from someone else smh

Brain Burst pairs beautifully with Purgatus as Kinetic Flayer is essentially guaranteed to proc the second cooldown is over due to how a single full charged secondary attack counts as an absurd amount of "hits". It's also great with Empowered Psionics at eliminating out of range Elites/Specialists.
Smite is great at saving the day in bad situations but needs to be reworked. It can easily stop groups of Crushers though.
I only recently got into Darktide, and not even 60hrs later I find that there is an active warzone in game's community. Love it, reminds me of all the other games I've played

To be fair, assail is a life-saver in auric damnations. As in, when you have hordes of elites and specials, it's just too good to pass up. And with threat generation reduction passives it has great uptime.
It really is not to good to pass up. As you get better at managing hordes with other tools you'll find the to good to give up thing to be psykentics aura.
3:15 To be fair though, Smite as it is is currently broken. It's far too easy to use it as a crutch for bad gameplay decisions. It should be a fire-forget stun attack with a limited amount of charges that regenerate 1 over a minute or something longer, so it has high strategic value but limited spam.

As a new player I enjoy his videos which emphasize survivability and supporting your team(reminds me of your tier list of blitzes/abilties where you split it into casual/sweat). I think there is potentially a difference between your view of hyper sweat optimization and optimization for a newer player. E is also trying to portray his content as meta. That’s the issue. It’s fine if he makes fun builds or theme builds. That’s valid. Doomslayer vet is fun. Martydome zealot is considered fun to some people. But don’t say it’s meta and then not take some of the best nodes in the tree. It’s false info and it’s going to make the surge of new players that are trying to get the most out their builds worse off. Don’t talk about something you have little knowledge/experience in.

Tanner you said that warp unbound is bad but have you ever tried warp unbound on scryers gaze with voidstrike which has warp flurry and surge to spam like 10 explosions in 10 seconds? You nuke an whole army away (get several elite kills so cd reduction). I would like you See try that. Even if it’s bad for a reason that I don’t know it’s still fun.

52:15 I can vouch for it. I used it initally because it sounded really good on paper but I just could never go up to high peril without extreme sentry-like behaviour of nothing. As Tanner shows. It's so hard to upkeep shriek with it, it genuinely hurts to use (Also it's boring as hell being at high peril is so fun)

A couple of days ago I tried gun psyker with laspistol for the first time ever to try it out and I was on 25 stacks of Disrupt Destiny for most of the time (I'm like level ~40 on psyker btw)

I would never really play psyker like that ( I love the ogryn and branx too much) but goddamn learned more about psyker here than I ever have in my time playing this game.
You had me rolling all video long. Good information plus dumb jokes like "Okay I paused." At 37:46 though regarding Warp Unbound, being able to just sit at 100% peril with all that Scrier's goodness going and just machine gunning out staff attacks is pretty effective. Never with gun psyker, but when you want to play trauma staff like you were talking about it can be a pretty nice little point. +2 sec Scrier's duration for not having to quell when it ends + max warp rider damage + whatever other bonuses you like to take for being at 100% peril. It's not the best point ever but it makes Staff + Scryer a lot more effective.

Honestly, Tanner is my absolute go to for Darktide, and i was afraid he was done with the game and some of his older stuff was out of date possibly.
I watched the video this refers to, and thought, “i watched Tanner and Jeficus talk about many abilities (sorry, game lingo is interchangeable) and this is flying in the face of that…. And i know Gun psyker is good, i’ve seen 2 Auric Storm Survivors carry us and basically solo Daemon bounds, that they aggroed on purpose….”
So, on my 3rd week of Darktide, on a rough day of failing 3/5 missions, which i am partially at fault for as i am not good at Zealot yet, i’m thrilled to see such a long video from Tanner.

Says that pysker doesn't have much stamina even though they are the best class to spam push attacks, tank more than anyone unless it's a slab shield, and you are the most dangerous person imaginable, crazy man with a knife.
If you can't melee then don't play psyker, literally don't play the class untill you can melee cause if you can't then you'll absolutely will suffer if you need to melee to defend yourself.
I've been playing with empryic resolve. It's new so I gave it a chance, and the spamming surge staff felt nice. But that toughness nerf and difficulty keeping the crit chance above the 60% threshold was kind of wonky.

I want to add to the discussion about Wildfire because I feel like you undersold the bad thing for once Tanner hahaha😅.
Imagine you're targeting an enemy with 20 stacks of Soulblaze. However, only four of those stacks can spread effectively. These four viable stacks are divided among all targets within range, meaning it’s more likely for each of the four enemies to receive just one stack of Soulblaze rather than having one enemy accumulate all four stacks.
Additionally, if there are more than four enemies-which is often the case in missions-there's a significant chance that some enemies may not receive any Soulblaze at all. This raises the question: what’s the benefit of using Wildfire?
I would argue that Wildfire is potentially one of the worst, if not the absolute worst, nodes in the Psyker's tree.
