The car was a crime scene and removed from the scene, it was put on a plane and sent to the Ford Motor Co for refurbishment the same day. That's tampering with evidence, doesn't matter if it was today or 50 years ago, tampering with evidence is wrong. Bonnie and Clyde's car is still on display with the hundreds of bullet holes still in it!

    • @califdad4
      @califdad4 7 років тому +6

no , read up on it, it was driven to the hospital and the plexiglass roof and fabric cover were put on it, then it was flown to the White House Garage, where the FBI took pictures and searched for evidence, late in Dec 1963, it was flown to Hess and Eisenhardt In Ohio, to be rebuilt. They were not doing a shrine, they needed a new Limo for the President fast and this was the fastest way to do it

LBJ also ordered the car to be cleaned up on the spot which destroyed tons of evidence, why? Why was it sent to Mich. to be rebuilt so soon? Why hasn't someone traced the real trek this car took immediately after the killing of our President? I believe that's something that has been grossly overlooked.

FBI had jurisdiction over the Presidential Limo, not local, County or State Police. They couldn't keep it in storage, the Gov didn't even own this car, it was leased from Ford. They looked into building another car and it would take several years, and this car could be redone in less than half the time. We just had a President murdered and they wanted the new President in a armoured car, and this was a quickest way to do it. This car was used till 1978 ,Carters years, it just was not used anymore for the President

I was 7, attending school in Massachusetts, JFK's and my own home state. it was just a terrible feeling for everyone. the movie 'Parkland' has a scene where I think the Naval officer who was his MD, riding out of Dallas in a crowded car, puts his hand to his forehead, and begins sobbing. THAT moment captures how we all felt. it's an outstanding film which tries not to take sides in conspiracy theories. when they wheel him into the ER, there's one scene which goes a bit far, where a surgeon keeps pumping his chest redundantly. almost has a sort of crisis of confidence, for a second, which is erroneous, according to history. I don't mean Warren Omission history. it was an independent film, I think. one unintentionally funny scene takes place in FBI hdqutrs. everyone there is chain smoking cigarettes in the office. now that, is real history.

IT'S INTERESTING THAT THE LIMO WAS FLOWN OUT OF DALLAS ON THE NIGHT OF 11/22/63, AFTER IT HAD BEEN SCRUBBED DOWN ON ORDERS BY LBJ. THEY TOOK IT TO THE ROUGE PLANT, WHERE WITNESSES NOTICED THE TELL-TALE FRONT-ENTRY BULLET HOLE TO THE WINDSHIELD, WHICH WAS REPLACED (SO YOU HAVE TWO EXAMPLES OF DESTRUCTION OF EVIDENCE TO A CRIME SCENE, THAT BEING THE LIMO). AND THEN FORD ADDED THE HARD TOP AND LBJ AND NIXON BOTH USED THE SAME VEHICLE. SO YEAH, IT'S NOT ONLY IN THE FORD MUSEUM, BUT IT'S ALSO ONLY ABOUT A FIVE MILE DRIVE TO WHERE IT WAS MADE (AND REMADE) SO IT WOULD NOT BE THAT DIFFICULT TO RESTORE IT.AND WHEN THEY DO, I HOPE THEY DON'T FORGET TO PUT A FRONT-ENTRY BULLET HOLE IN THE WINDSHIELD, PROVING THERE WAS A SHOOTER IN FRONT OF THE CAR AND NOT JUST TO THE REAR.

There is none so blind as one who will not see. Some people believe what they need to support their views on life, others read and try to look at all that is available and come to some conclusion based on facts. Some don't give a damn.

The Secret Service washed the blood stains and cleaned the Presidential Limo outside of Parkland Hospital, instead of preserving it for a crime scene investigation. The car was later that day flown back to Washington DC.
There the car was further cleaned with bullet fragments found.
There was much discussion of a “clean bullet hole” through the windshield. One Secret Service witness stated that the hole went clear through, wide enough to push a pencil through. There was also mention of chrome damage around the upper side of the windshield, plus the fact that the rearview mirror had been twisted during the shooting.
George Whitaker Sr., was a senior manager at the Ford Motor Company back in 1993, and gave an interview telling that upon reporting for work on the Monday after the JFK Assassination ,that he was to report to the glass lab immediately. The door to the lab was locked, which was very unusual, so Whitaker had to be let in by one of the two lab assistants.
To Whitaker’s surprise, the windshield to the JFK assassination limo was in the lab, with instructions to use it as a template to build a new windshield. Whitaker examined the windshield carefully, and saw a clean hole in the lower left area. Upon studying the hole further, he could determine the glass had been penetrated by the outside inward. This was made evident by the glass chipping away on the inside, much like a small BB hole would blast away glass on the backside.
His subordinates upon making a new windshield, shattered the JFK windshield, as had been ordered
The Presidential Limo was completely up dated, new engine installed for the extra weight because armor plating. Over an inch thick side windows that didn’t roll down, and a permanent top of the car.
The original thought was to get a new limousine, till officials were told that it would take years. LBJ had to use FBI Director Hoover’s armored car in the interim. President Johnson wasn’t pleased with the thought of using his predecessor's assassination limo, and shocked that it came back to him with the same midnight blue color. “Paint it black,” LBJ demanded.
The assassination limo continued into service with President Carter being the last to ride in it. It was retired out of service in 1978.
Now it sits in the Henry Ford Museum. Why Ford? Because the US Government never owned the Limo, they just leased it.
UP DATE The limo cost less than $8,000 new. It was extended a little more than 30 inches, the roof was raised to accommodate Top Hats, and rear seats could be raised ten inches for the President to be better seen. These were just a few of the modifications, including a “parade speed transmission.” This work was subbed out for $190,000. After the assassination, heavier armor, non roll down bullet proof side windows, et al, total improvements: nearly $500,000.

At the time, I believe it was because of the cost. Now, there are always 2 presidential limousines produced, you can see both in any footage of a modern motorcade. The president always rides in the second car in line. Back then, there was just the one Lincoln made for the secret service. After the investigation, it was sent to the original fabricator in Ohio, to be stripped, armored, and the roof permanently attached. Even the upholstery was completely re done. I can’t recall how long it took, but it was under a year. People sometimes mistakenly say Nixon used this limousine for his inauguration, but that’s not correct. A new Lincoln limousine was made for him, but the Kennedy car stayed in the fleet. You can tell the difference by looking at the sheet metal differences in the 1961 Lincoln, and Nixon’s late 1960’s model. Nixon’s limousine was in the Guinness World Book at the time, as being the most expensive custom car of the time.

I thought cars back in the 1960 s were disposable. I guess except for this one, as the government kept recycling it. My grandparents told me that once a car was 5 years old, it was trash, and people would abandon them on the streets.

How ridiculous. Cars from the 50s 60s weren't trash in 5 years, and abandoned on the road!! unless the owners treated them horrendously, or possibly in the rust belt, didn't maintain them. My 58 cadillac is 64 years old, and my 68 Mustang is 54, both still on the road.

There was no reason to rebuild the car --- except to erase evidence of events on Nov 22nd 1963. While at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn MI, looking at the Presidential Limousine after rebuilding the car inside and out, please take a walk over and investigate the 'CHAIR' that President Abraham Lincoln sat in when assassinated at Ford Theater in Washington DC. The chair has not been recovered. * Large stain at the top of the Abraham Lincoln rocking chair inside The Henry Ford Museum. Many people thought the stain was blood, but it was later determined to be a type of grease/oil used by men on their hair. posted Apr 14, 2021.
