I've known this band for just over 6 months and I'm amazed by their sound. My favorite song of theirs is IDK.
I want to suggest that you react to "Deus le volt/spread your fire - Angra"
Angra is a Brazilian power metal band and I'm sure you'll like it!

Yes! Twelve Foot Ninja was my favorite discovery in 2012. They’re so fun-and so talented! You should check out more from them. Kin’s vocals are quite reminiscent of Mike Patton. And there’s some Mr. Bungle influence in their music, it seems. You know they’re good if Tatiana agreed to guest on the song before she even heard it. That’s one hell of a seal of approval!

Hahaha I love that you reacted to this crazy music video, quick turnaround too. There is a lot going on for sure, both visually and musically. I think the message is that our dreams don't make sense and that searching for meaning in them only leads to insanity.
Thanks for another great reaction, John!🔥🔥

That face when you were wondering what he was going to put down there... Cracked me up!!! Tatiana being featured was the reason I got to TFN and this was the first (and only at the moment) that I've heard from them and I really liked the song and the video and I really liked how both voices sounded together! Great reaction and analysis as usual John!

TFN are an Aussie band. Jinjer played some gigs with them when they toured Australia and the members of TFN turned up for Jinjer's Melbourne gig that was recorded for their live album - hence this collaboration. Apparently the random phrases that Tati says in the "Ask Tatiana" machine are Aussie slang for being "a sandwich short of a picnic" ie. not very bright! =)
Tatiana has stated in the past that she is not keen on doing collaborations, so the two bands must get along pretty well.

True, but she has collaborated extensively in the past with her producer, Max Morton. Check out his stuff here on UA-cam sometime. He has a great voice too, although his musical style is much more straightforward than Jinjer's.

Jinjer sights Twelve Foot Ninja as one of their influences, they also get along well and tati said yes to the collab before hearing the song. I wouldn't be surprised if Kin (TFN singer) fts on a jinjer song or tati does another with TFN again 🤘

Cool wee song too. Kin & Tatiana's voices compliment each other a treat imho (Kin deserves some praise for his arrangement of vocal harmonies, textures etc), that chorus is *hella* catchy, & the orchestration towards the end is quite beautiful. I love it when their FNM/Bungle influences show like this. Great stuff. :)

    I listen TFN since 2013.
I consider them, one of the more underated bands in metal scene maybe because their humoristic goofy music videos. Anyone that apreciates and analyses music, my suggestion, is to, listen first the track, without the music video, and yes, and only then, see it.
Metaphorically, i consider TFN, that goofy kid in school, that never showns in classes or study a lot but at the time of exams, somehow he is able to get an A or A+. They are that kids that have an high IQ but they dont find nothing defying enough to stick to a limited subject interest because they can dominate several things with no big effort.
That is what i consider TFN, a extremelly talented band, that knows hugelly about music in general but, maybe because of that, cannot fit in one genre only, and possibly, and only possibly, Jinjer and Tatiana felt a connection with them. Both bands are a little bit in their own leagues. Jinjer are a extremely complex and talented band, with many technically nuances that can confuse even experienced listeners, but at the end of the day, you can say they are a pure metal band. TFN is not a pure metal band. They mix electronic elements, bossanova vibes, 80's vibes but...they still gravitate in the metal world. Personally i found amusing that recently, you only reacting to "difficult" bands to analise at is full but that "attraction" (no matter if your decision was because of Tatiana on this track), defines you as a tallented music guy. What i can say more? Analise the track "One Hand Killing" please, to really enter TFN "rabitt hole".

Thanks for taking the time to do this one man! Really enjoyed it. Been listening to the new TFN album and find it to be an excellent album. Lots of 80's sounds in the mix. Although they are known for their wild and weird videos, I think sometimes the video can overshadow the greatness of the music. But either way, very talented band. Would like to see you do a few more from them. Again, thanks for sharing your time and thoughts on this awesome song. Keep rockin 🤘

The last line by Tatiana is kinda creepy but also funny, but if I didn't know the meaning of Russian lines I wouldn't really get what they meant.
Basically she says (in idioms) that he's insane in first 3 lines, and then says that he's also dumb in the 4th. Each successive line is more aggressive/mean than the previous and it's kinda creepy how she doesn't break the character saying all that stuff.
Literally the idioms translate to totally different things of course but as I have asked around they essentially have the same meaning as the Australian counterpart in the subtitles.
Still not clear if they really meant that he had his mind blown by the revelation that the crazy dreams meant exactly what they appeared to mean =/
Is Tatiana his intrusive thoughts there? Then they are in an unknown language, again crazy.

    • @metalgearshady7875
      @metalgearshady7875 2 роки тому +8

Just for the completeness, she says
"You don't have everyone at home/You've got someone missing in your house" (an idiom meaning smthing like "you're nuts", I guess it's not too aggressive yet),
"You're not friends with your head" (easy - "you're inadequate, unreasonable", kinda rougher IMO, as if she would lecture him for doing something weird)
"Your roof is gone/slid away" ("you're insane" even more aggressively, I guess that one would be for more aggressive situations, like blaming someone already)
"You've got only one cerebral convolution/gyrus and it's all straight" (basically "you're dumb").

I think you would dig more Twelve Foot Ninja... I personally really like stuff like this song or Collateral, which are a bit more straight forward, at least tonally... But a lot of their stuff is pretty genre slippy... The guitarist and principal song writer is a huge fan of Mr Bungle, and I'd say a lot of their stuff kind of has a California era Mr Bungle vibe to it.

I know you've been doing a lot of Jinjer lately, so I understand if you want to move on to someone else. But at the risk of exhausting you with yet another Jinjer request, I will ask have you considered reviewing another one of their albums? "King of Everything" is still considered today by fans to be their best album. It is their second album, and it came right at the end of a tragic accident that saw their former drummer permanently paralyzed from the waist down. They were still unsigned, they had still not found much in the way of commercial success despite the wonder of their genre breaking debut album, and they had reached a point where they were seriously considering calling it quits when they went into the studio to record this album. The album would produce their two most important songs, "Sit, Stay, Rollover" which got them signed, and "Pisces" which marked the beginning of their commerical success. The entire album is a wall to wall banger. But like I said, I totally get it if you would prefer to move on to something else instead

Video is a metaphor for the ultimate demise of the band. And the member that ended.up being thr catalyst for it. Pretty sure the man was tired, needed more from life. Or less of something. Just my thoughts. The whole album tells most of the story i think.
