- Hey everyone! Watch me shop for, design, and build my budget custom Ikea Closet using the Aurdal closet system. I chose the Aurdal system because it seemed like the best one designed for the size and type of closet I have (reach-in) that still provided a high end look. In this video I detail what components I bought, the prep work for install (removing old hardware, sanding, spackling, painting, etc.), and a time lapse of the two-day install. Thanks for watching this DIY makeover and comment ideas for future products you’d like me to test out! SUBSCRIBE for more :)

Great job 👏
Thank you!!
😻😻😻
What are your thoughts on Ikea furniture/builds? 🤔
not bad, takes forever to build though
Love them
Pretty cool! Do you know the max weight the rods can hold?
Ikea's website says 79lbs and I would say that sounds accurate based off my experience!
Are the drawers soft close? LOVE the result!
Thank you! They are not soft close unfortunately but I still love them. There’s not an obnoxious banging shut sound which is nice.
Did the suspension rail come with nails to install them to the wall?
Hi Toya, no I don’t think it did unfortunately😕. I had to find some old screws and drywall anchors in the garage to use!
Did you drill right into the drywall to connect the rails to the wall? Did it come with screws?
Hi! Yes I did drill into the drywall for the rods. I had to get my own drywall anchors (bcuz the holes didn't line up with the studs on my walls) and long screws for them too and if I remember correctly the rods only came with screws to connect them to the middle section, not the walls themselves.
How long would you say it took to install the closet (not including the paint/sparkle)
Hi! It took me maybe 2-3 hours for just the Ikea parts. The longest parts to install were the suspension rail at the beginning (making sure it was level and secure) and the clothing rods at the end (not shown) because I struggled to find studs and had to use drywall anchors.
Great video! What application website did you use at the beginning ?
Thank you! The link to the planner I used is in the description section of the video :) it’s directly on IKEA’s website!
I have a question do the rods extend more? Im planing to order this one but my closet is wider than yours. Helppp pls ty
Good question! Yes they do extend, I found that their online designer/planner tool was super helpful for this part because you can enter the dimensions of your specific space and it will show you if it fits or not! Super cool, link in description :)
@@curlypay i went in today but they didnt have the rods so my husband said order online tmwr that they have them 🥲 ty i will try that
@silvialopez5541 best of luck! I def had to make two trips to the store because they’re always out of stuff 😭
Are the hanging rails adjustable to fit different closet measurements?
Hi! Yes the rods can be extended out or in to fit different sized spaces. When I was designing it online I chose to have the rods on the sides for a more “custom” look since I knew I could adjust them. :)
♥️📖🎶✝️♥️☝️♥️
If I don’t use 2 of the 4 rods would this fit a 3.75ft wide closet?
Hi! Hmm good question, I’m not sure off the top of my head, but the Ikea closet planner is perfect for helping “test fit” things into a custom space. The link to their planner is in the description of this video, and once you go to the site, you can enter 3.75ft as your space and virtually drag and drop pieces into the space to see how it would look/fit! Hope that helps
How wide did you put apart the drawers when you were installing them?
Hi I’m not sure because it was a while ago but I did use the website planner quite a bit to help design it and space it the way I wanted. So that helped a lot.
Where did you do the design part?
I designed it all on IKEA’s website! It was super easy. The link to the planner I used is in the description box of the video if you want to check it out 😊
What height did you hang the rail at?
Both the top rails were done at approx. 82" from the floor, the left bottom rail 35" from the floor, and the bottom right 42" from the floor!
What color paint did you use?
Hi Melissa I used Pittsburgh Grand Distinction Paint & Primer in One Interior Paint in Semi-Gloss White/Pastel Base! 😊
@@curlypay thanks everything looks good! How are you liking the whole system?
What was the hole between each drawer you did ?
Hi! There are 6 exposed holes between each of the metal tracks that hold up the drawers. It’s customizable though so can do it however you like. :)
Total cost?
Hi! It only cost about $250-$275ish with tax for all the Ikea parts. I actually didn’t have to buy paint, brushes, spackle, tools, or wall screws because I already had them lying around in the garage or else it would’ve been a little more!
Cost?
total was $250-$275ish for the Ikea parts I had to buy. The paint, paint materials, screws, spackling, and impact driver I already had :)
Hi what is your size of closet?
Hi! The door opening is 6ft wide by 79” tall. And the inner space is 6 ft 6” wide by 8ft tall and 2ft deep.
How much did it cost from ikea?
Hi! my cost was around $250-$275 :) from ikea. not including paint or tools.
@@curlypay thank you so much!
They are difficult at times to put them together instructions are not great for some people
Definitely 😭
