    Even on UA-cam the sound quality is brilliant! Great job chaps!

      There shouldn't ever be much in UA-cam's audio quality, so long as you play the video as HD the audio is pretty much unaffected. I think both here and in the flesh this sounds killer!

    Awesome sound, why doesn't Roland, Moog and co implant this option in their full sized synths, always the same stuff, year after year but in a new package every time.

      because they are conservative and have/give less fun

      marco scooter It comes from a different philosophy: starting with a simple waveform and adding harmonics, rather than starting with a rich waveform and subtracting harmonics. But wavefolding is starting to creep in: Arturia's had it for a while as the "metaliser" control on the triangle wave, and now the Korg Minilogue has something similar.

      macro scooter - They both have a heritage of subtractive natures across most of their ranges. Moog have some extra things in the Moog Modular line both old and new but they're not companies I think of when it comes to "new" things. In terms of changing the standard synth architecture and making it available on mass.

      Lo Heitz - interesting take on it, I don't think standard subtractive stuff is boring as some things offers way to control that and interact creatively. I do think the addition of something like a wavefolder before the filter stage on a standard synth adds a lot of potential and to agree more fun. But those companies know what sell and keep doing it.

      voltlife - good call! Arturia have added the metalizer to the triangle and you can animate it too. I'd forgotten about the Korg Minilogue's shaping, that offers some ways to FM and Ring Mod too doesn't it?

    Great video, the Kinky looks awesome. Does it fold cv too or is it audio only?

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  7 років тому

      CV too I believe.

    Any thoughts on how this compares to the new TipTop wavefolder?

    • @zwerty007
      @zwerty007 7 років тому +2

      Dan Dorje there's two of them seperately usable (or usable for folding the top/bottom sections of the signal independently) in this one, and it doesn't have the weird suboctave section.

      Chartre Khan I thought that TipTop's suboctave was weird at first too, but then I patched up something similar with a uFold, A160 and mixer, and wow it can create some wild sounds! The TipTop also has a bias/symmetry control, but you could do something similar with any wavefolder by mixing a DC offset into the input signal. I want to hear more of the "chopping" aspect of the Befaco, but I'm already really impressed by how rich it sounds.

      Hey Dan, after playing with both and getting demos of both (TipTop video coming soon) they sound quite different. Different feature set too. The sub octaves sounded really nice on the TipTop.

      Chartre Khan - yeah spot on there's two of these, or dual stages and switching (than can go to audio rate) on the Befaco. The TipTop sub octave section sounded great (video coming soon).

      voltlife - certainly right about the richness of Kinky. The switching very much appeals to me as well. The octaves on TipTop were great though.

    I did see this. How would you compare it to the Sonic XV?

    • @DivKid
      @DivKid  7 років тому +1

      Sonic XV is an amazing filter with a waveshaper/folder built into the input stage and resonance stages. But this is a dual Wavefolder that acts like a VCA or two stage split folder. Different things really.

      I figured..I recently got a Random Source Wave Multipliers and it's one of the most useful and multi-tiered modules I've come across,
      Great compliment to the XV and SM.

      I've had a play on the Wave Multiplier and few other RS modules and they've fantastic!

    ....what news about those hexa modules?
