Dont let people talk crap about your combine. All machines break down all machines have issues. That is an awesome combine many farmers use them all the time all over the world
On the unload auger. In the tank. Put the slides all the way down on the right side. That will lighten the pull on the auger. Up on the left will give full unload. CASE can turn off cross augers in the hopper.
I enjoy your channel. I’m a contractor, but dad was farmer. So I have a lot experience [onfarm because I help my brother and neighbors and cousins. My brother chopping corn for cow feed now. I’m the pile build to pack it. I been living on the same farm for 63 years
Dust building up inside the rotor feeder impellers... some falls off when you stop the threshing, then it puts the rotor feeder out of balance... mine 9T does it... give it a good clean out with the air line
Interesting update on the combine's vibration issue. It sounds like a tough situation, but it’s reassuring to know that the warranty will provide a replacement if needed. Anyone with similar experiences, feel free to share your thoughts!
Rotor or chopper. Uphill drains more power from the machine making it less noticeable. Just my opinion from my personal experience. Could be gear box that drives the rotors. Could be the fan. Vibration usually occurs with the faster moving parts. Be safe! Thomas, Mississippi!!
Chris, sounds like "end play" the drum has bearings on both ends with fastenets. If there is too much play in the bearings against the rotor sorry i called it drum. Anyway, down hill it could be causing more end play on the rear bearing causing the vibration. Up hill seats the rotor on the bearing reducing the vibration. Also, if they are greaseable, the bearings could be a little dry. Some manufactures use proper amounts of grease as part of end play specifications.
Keep up the great work I love watching you all. I drive thru your area all the time I live in Buhl I go see my daughter and grand kids they live in Menan. I take the back highway at Pocatello I hate driving the freeway from Pocatello to Idaho Falls I think they are crazy and always trying to run you over.
Well, I’m glad you’re enjoying the channel. The freeway has definitely gotten more busy. They are trying to add a third lane from Idaho Falls to Pocatello to try and make it less busy.
I think it need full service sometime this happen in the season and everybody face such tiny type of obstacles hope that now it will run effectively when you change its mobile oil
My guess is you lost a balance weight off one of the rotors. A bearing reveals itself relatively quickly. I run a CLAAS but looking at an Ideal since my dealer is not going to support CLAAS after next year.
I don’t even wanna know the process of rebalancing a rotor that sounds like it would be very difficult. I can say you probably would not be disappointed with an ideal 9.
I work for CLAAS as a tech best machines by far on market, but I do love new Holland and that new cr11 looks like it'll give the 8900 a run for it's money..
Mike Mitchell in Canada might give some insight. His family ran 13 of them when they first came out. He’s on you tube also. He’s really good at offering plus and minus on machines he runs.
I dunno alot about combines. But I know from UA-cam videos when fents first came out they had some problems with the gear boxes in the back of the machine
The worst thing Agco did was get rid of the MF 9500 series combines in favor of these fendts. A lot of people dont want these combines, our farm included. I know more guys that have had nightmares with these machines than good ones. Especially Mike Mitchell and his family, but they did have first/second year machines. I know you like this machine, but i would've stayed with a newer New Holland CR 8.90 or 9.90.
Mike, Mitch is not really a great example he has problems with everything. I think he just blew up a motor and burned down two of his John Deere within the last year so every machine you buy is going to have some problems it’s just how good is the service And with these services pretty good. if you have problems that are gonna make you be down for more than a day they will bring out a brand new combine for you to continue to run. It’s part of their policy. So far they’ve never had to do that because they’ve never had that bad of problems. The worst problem we had we were only down for I think three hours.
I’d say that combine has a serious design problem when you shear pins in dry grain, no longer a “Beast” when the unload auger shuts down harvest My dad used to refer to that as having “ A Big mouth and a small A~~” Stay Safe !
The sheer bolts breaking are our fault, because we are learning how to run a new machine. Once we figured out what we were doing wrong we never sheered another one.
The guy in the cab talking in the first couple minutes, in the winter time if he could travel around the country giving a presentation on how to act like a wonderful customer that would be awesome. Nothing makes a mechanic want to help a customer out more than an attitude like you guys. The up and down hill change of the vibration is a little confusing. If the vibration seems to be related to the rotor because he said you can feel it change as rotor speed changes the first place I would look is the variable drive belt. Then go from there. Rotor loss a balancer weight, bearing... I had an T8 get the unload auger shut off with a full auger. We had to take the chain off that fed the horizontal augers. Then we could clean out the auger put the chain on and get back to work. Kind of a freak deal
@RockyMountainFarmer I hope you find the problem. I had a combined whole maybe 10 years ago and early in the day it had a slight vibration couldn't find nothing by that evening you swore the cab was going to shake right off. Hold the variable belt off and visibly you could not see anything wrong but put a new one on and that thing ran smooth. I hope it's something that simple for you. You can watch the belts and see if you get a vibration anywhere. If any idler has a rhythmic bounce to it or if any belt is really shaky. It wasn't uncommon on some of the other combines to get a flat spot on a main power belt and it would transfer that vibration to the rotor drive.
Make sure you have a fire extinguisher real handy they like to burn. I too would say a rotor went out of balance and it could very likely make the bearing fail.
I would assume that there is a spacer (maybe more than one) on the forward end of the rotor shaft. That spacer would be between the front rotor bearing and the rotor itself and is mounted on the shaft. Gravity puts pressure on it because the rotor is not mounted level, and as the rotor rotates in order to trash out the grain from the straw, it tries to move forward, putting pressure on the spacer and front rotor bearing. Also there may not be a spacer on the forward end of the rotor shaft, and there needs to be one there. The rotor is too close to the front of the rotor housing. Look at the inside of the front part of the rotor housing if you can, for evidence of metal scraping. It could be that you will have to remove the rotor in order to discover the issue that is causing the vibration. You also stated that the vibration noise is louder when going down hill and almost non existent when going up hill. That is because the rotor is moving back and forth inside of the rotor housing, Because your combine is under warrantee, I would let the manufacture fix the problem. All I can say is I know that a farmer bought 5 b rand new ones and had nothing but trouble with them. He traded them off and now running Case IH combines!!
I’m surprised no one suggested you check the adjustable restriction slides in your grain tank regarding the shear pin issue. It sounds to me like the slides are too wide open and are allowing too much grain into your unload auger causing it to overload and break your shear bolt.
So you can only close them when unloading and since we are new to this, breaking the sheer bolts was our fault not the combine. We just forgot to close them down when the cart started getting full.
Watching from the UK. Had no idea how much big 'tough' farm equipment needs maintaining or breaks. Seems like every video multiple things break or malfunction. That's something years of Farming Simulator doesn't teach you

They farm 16,000 hectares and more after Ashtyn bought the North farm. Its a LOT to do per year per combine, and a header also, lots of wear and tear, If you count that all together, its like 2250 something hectares per year per combine. My fendt dealer has 4 x9. They traded them in on 2 9t and 2 10t. The guys that traded them in said they never want to see deere junk again. All colors break down.
Unbalanced rotors? Missing hardware any where on them? Even dirt build up can throw them off too. If you get time should remove some belts to disconnect other moving parts like the chopper, elevator, shaker etc... maybe could narrow it down to what is running and what isnt.
I was going to comment re vibration but James Solson pretty much covered the bases. I worked 30 years for Massey Ferguson so could not add any additional info all ready commented . Would appreciated give a follow up after issue resolved.
Operator error. If you shut the auger off when it’s clear full, then turn it back on it shears there are some gates you can close if you know you’re not gonna be able to empty it all out but we keep forgetting to close them before we shut it off and then we sheer it. So it’s our fault, but we’re learning.
If you shear the unloader bolts again, take the chain off that drives the cross auger before engaging again. Should be able to use an extra deep 24mm on an impact to slack it enough to pop it off. Engage to clean the unloader out, put the chain back on & you should be back in business. I also assume you know that shield over the unloader chain can flip open? Would make getting to the shear bolt storage easier I think.
first off i know jack diddly about farming and especially the equipment but i think its funny how everyone was like ahh man you got a fendt the break all the time. your like nahh, and yet here we re again with a broken fendt. whats funny is i know john deere construction equipment and that crap breaks all the time non stop yet some how jon deeres are better then fendts. lol good luck getting her fixed guys im just giving you a hard time i love the channel.
I sure hope Fendt is paying to dump grain on the ground. And engineers need to be a shop mechanic before allowed to design equipment, because they sure don't listen
Amen to that should be a requirement to work at least one year as a mechanic before you can be an engineer! Hence why the shear bolts are behind the tire...didn't catch that in AutoCAD and they have never set foot on the machine
Sometimes that’s why you need good service departments and mechanics that know what they’re doing. Once we figured out the issues and what we were doing wrong we never had any more issues.
I like how a case or deere has a problem and its oh well they all break down. Example- engine come apart. A drive wheel fall off or the rotor drive gearbox come apart again. Meanwhile the fendt has an issue that doesn't even stop you and its the worst combine ever built. As someone who actually owns a couple of these im good with the fendt and ill put the service up against anyone else anyday.
WOW, for what you paid for that combine and all the "issues" you have had, you got taken. You have had excellent service from your equipment supplier, but you should have never seen them several times in the first 8 days.
Brand new and you're having one problem after another. In my state, we would call that a sh!t box. I hope it becomes reliable sooner rather than later. 👍🏻
I love how connected you are to the land

maybe something on the rotor is missing and creating the router to lose balance.

I say it's a rotor or feederhouse bearing if your feeling it in the cab floor!
We will have to look into that
Wear plates on front of either rotor coming loose you can only visually see them by removing front two concaves.
We will have to check that out
Header pin punctured the rotor or a crack in the weld seam of the rotor taking on dirt.. had it happen on a case flagship.
That’s definitely a possibility

Probably a rotor out of balance and then it probably affected the bearing John Deere s790 s780 are famous for that too.
Thanks we will look into that
Could you speed up or down the rotor to tell if it's the rotor or chopper vibrating?
I think he did.
there is bearing on the back end of the rotor that are bad that is what the end play is they go out and will cause a fire in the butt of the combine
We will make sure to check it out

Yes the video is actually coming out tomorrow about that!

you need a bigger grain cart on tracks
It might help but we never had to keep the combine waiting all harvest
When you’re done call them up and tell them to pick it up
We picked up the grain
Did you put a pry bar between the frame or concave and the rotor and try to see if there is play in the bearings ? It's probably the front bearing.

Yeah, instead of bringing out the other machine, they brought out the part to fix the machine. Warranty works great.

We have a fire extinguisher on the ladder
@@RockyMountainFarmer Perfect! Hope You find the cause of the vibration!

I think going to that green spot + unloading triggered it to happen. Should be ok on rest of the field. Would hate to do nothing and wait on filters
I’m surprised no one suggested you check the adjustable restriction slides in your grain tank regarding the shear pin issue. It sounds to me like the slides are too wide open and are allowing too much grain into your unload auger causing it to overload and break your shear bolt.

first off i know jack diddly about farming and especially the equipment but i think its funny how everyone was like ahh man you got a fendt the break all the time. your like nahh, and yet here we re again with a broken fendt. whats funny is i know john deere construction equipment and that crap breaks all the time non stop yet some how jon deeres are better then fendts. lol good luck getting her fixed guys im just giving you a hard time i love the channel.
I’m glad you love the channel yeah we had a couple setbacks but they were quick fixes. We still harvested 120 acres that day.
Day 8
I sure hope Fendt is paying to dump grain on the ground.
And engineers need to be a shop mechanic before allowed to design equipment, because they sure don't listen
The engineer definitely needs to listen at least.
Amen to that should be a requirement to work at least one year as a mechanic before you can be an engineer! Hence why the shear bolts are behind the tire...didn't catch that in AutoCAD and they have never set foot on the machine
Brand new equipment is so complex these days they it always has teething issues and is always annoying as heck.
Sometimes that’s why you need good service departments and mechanics that know what they’re doing. Once we figured out the issues and what we were doing wrong we never had any more issues.
John Deere are easy to get to how ya like it now
We love it John Deere are too expensive
I wonder if you have a injector could be acting up
Then it'd vibrate with the separator off. No it's not motor related.
I’m not sure
a injector can cause a vibration
@@stirv6462 it sure can still be a injector when u put a load on the engine it would be the same thing
Because it would be to easy
Trade the combine but keep the flag
Nah the combine is great. Every brand eventually has issues. These were a few minor issues that were quickly fixed.
@@RockyMountainFarmer good luck
other makes are just the same
Yeah, they all have problems. The problems we have had are pretty small.
Feel and sound is 50% of what you know how your equipment is running.
Exactly
WOW, for what you paid for that combine and all the "issues" you have had, you got taken. You have had excellent service from your equipment supplier, but you should have never seen them several times in the first 8 days.
It will never end. Fendt is pure shit. I'm a fendt owner and I say that with confidence.
Claas best out there
The issues are minor and quickly fixed the dealer was out a lot because they are a good dealer. Every brand has problems it’s all about support.
Why couldn’t you just put a bucket and catch the grain
You would need 30 buckets. we will just scoop it up
Get a thermal camera.
We did use one that the mechanic had
@RockyMountainFarmer get an ATN ThOR 4 rifle scope for 2K and then you can use it for double duty and shoot varmets at night. 22-250 👍
@@RockyMountainFarmer did you know Paul Bragg, my wife's uncle?
Brand new and you're having one problem after another. In my state, we would call that a sh!t box. I hope it becomes reliable sooner rather than later.
👍🏻
You always have the most problems when it’s new after a year or two you’ve worked all the problems out then you don’t have any problems
@@RockyMountainFarmer Mike Mitchel had massive problems , I hope it all works out for you must be very annoying .
American flag on a German combine, not sure it has the same effect
Fendt is owned by agco which is an American company. They aren’t even built in Germany anymore.
