@@ziacobbs705 Exactly! And nowhere the animals live a horrible life! I can’t tell you how many dead birds I’ve pulled out of those chicken houses. That was actually my job first thing every morning. Disease and over crowding. I just know that I’m extremely proud that I took the step to process my own animals. Thanks for watching and for your encouraging comment!
Keep doing what you do. We all know where and how any meat we eat is processed. I’ve learned that you can’t please everyone cause everyone’s thinking process is different. When you live or haven’t been exposed to the real homestead : everything is gross to that individual. Simple minded folks especially when you live in a small town as well as the bugger cites who don’t or haven’t been exposed to the low down dirt of farming and how you get your food when purchased from retail or restaurant.
Save the seeds from the hybrid plant and try to grow them again. They might not come up “true to type” and many will not germinate, but those that do can grow into a plant that is specifically acclimated to your homestead and if you keep saving the seed, you might end up with your own DIY heirloom seeds 😊
@@samauthor342 You know what, I’m going to do just that. I saved some seeds from a hybrid okra this year and I’m going to go ahead and plant them next year. I actually tested 12 of the seeds and 8 of them germinated. Thanks for the motivational/helpful comment! 🙏🏽
@ no worries 😌. This is how farmers bred their own seeds from naturally occurring hybrids for thousands of years (for example a squash flower being pollinated by a bee carrying pumpkin pollen and then producing an amazingly tasty hybrid the following season from the farmer’s saved seeds that the farmer wants to save).
Im a homesteader too and i realized people wanna see the pretty garden and they like the idea of animals on a farm but dont want to think about the animals as food. They dont want to stick around for the dirty work or the less desirable jobs on the homestead. Its ok, this life isn't for everyone.
dear mr salty you have always been open about your homesteading goals. I see how you react your animals with care and respect. Iam not someone to watch you process the chickens even though I know I eat all sorts o meat and seafood. I trust you to do things in a kind and humane way. I still play your video though to help with the algorithm. Iam sure most who follow you see your honesty in what you present. I hope you and lice had a nice Xmas and look forward to following you. Ps I think you do a cooking show as well.😀😀🐈⬛

Hey Dawg - youre doin right - keep it up - don't forget to prep for old age when things get tough and a lot harder ( the body will run down ) - thnik !
This is how our ancestors farmed, wasn’t only fruit and vegetables grown. Meat such as pigs, chickens & cows were processed for meat. Depending on how many animals the farming family could afford and raise. Some used cows for dairy output and not meat. Why do folks think there is so much controversy for gun ownership in this country? Because folks don’t just hunt for sport but to do it for to feed their families (including fishing for food). How do folks think that chicken gets to the supermarkets or on their tables at the restaurants?! 😅😂 I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable killing any animal, but I am also realistic too about our food supplies are processed and distributed to the grocery stores & restaurants. If folks doesn’t like the concept of processing meat, they shouldn’t watch videos that deals with this subject matter. 🙄🤷🏾♀️
